Creekside Cabins Rentals

I realize this was a cabin, so my expectations were low. But the KOA with no restroom we stayed in last year was actually better that this place.
There are no grills here, so you can’t cookout.
The cabin overall is filthy. There was a solid layer of dust on everything and there were huge chunks of dust bunnies in all the wall heaters. If you have allergies, like we do, you will feel it. What capped it off and made this a 1 star for us was when we were cleaning up to leave and doing a ‘dummy check’ we found a shirt and sock beneath the bed… not ours.

Its been a week and I’ve finally calmed down enough to write this. I’ll be putting on Unilocal too. Not a great experience. Booked and paid my reservations for Cabins at Creekside on January 13 for January 23 and 24. Fun getaway for me and a lady friend. I’m thinking its gonna be great because that place is beautiful and there’s a steak house. I even ask the girl on the phone I booked the reservations with «Is the steak house and bar gonna be open?» I was reassured twice. Ok cool, cause town and food otherwise is 25 minutes away. I asked because, you know, its off season and I wasn’t sure and I wanted it all handled so my lady friend would have a good time. Ok. So we get there and Chris, the «manager”(I use this term loosely because he didn’t really «manage» the situation very well) is surprised to even see us. As he explained it the whole place was bought a week ago (It just so happens by the same people that own Christopher Creek Lodge) and closed for renovations. So steak house is closed and won’t be open all weekend and cabin 6 (I requested specifically) is not available/​not ready/​under construction/​whatever. He seemed put out I was even there. He said he could probably «fix up» #1 but there’s no kitchen in it. We can get cold sandwiches a mile down the road. um. no. That was not the plan and he seemed bothered to even offer. His other suggestion was just come back some other time. No big deal we came all that way. um… reservations mean… nevermind. really? dude. c’mon. He gave me plenty of excuses… They just bought the place and the old owners didn’t tell them we were coming. okay. I’m okay so far. But there’s no food and we’re not eating cold cuts and staying in a construction zone no thanks. He explains there are cabins down the way but we have to pay the difference for one with a kitchen so I can do the cooking (which I would happily have done.) Um… no. this wasn’t our fuck up, why should we have to pay more? So after more excuses and stories, he offered a trailbunk… I’m a big dude… no kitchen and full size bunk beds. We need at least a queen and a kitchen since the restaurant’s closed. Says we have to pay the difference for a more expensive cabin. really? Gimme you bosses number. He says: No. flat out, no. what the fuck? I get an email address. Great. I email it. I get an email from another guy um… Jason Harris… and guess what’s no surprise… I get more stories and excuses. what?! no offer for refund. no compensation for the fucking stress instead of a weekend get away. Phoenix is less stressful. There are plenty of other places in other beautiful areas of AZ I’ll be spending my down time and money. And so will all of my friends and biker pals. No big deal. Customer service is obviously not something the new owners are considering renovating but really I think that’s what needs an updated look. Good luck. Anyway Greer, AZ is nice this time of year and the lodge owners up there understand what it means to take care of a customer. I won’t be back.

What a homey little hidden gem this place is. My father used to take us here on weekend vacations when I was a child, and I have been coming back ever since.
Previously, Christopher Creek had much more traffic than it does this day in age, as the addition of the new loop has routed highway traffic away from this hotspot.
I love this place for several reasons. It is rustic, has a full bar and restaurant, and is cozy as all get out.
There are 6 different cabins to select from for your stay. I usually try and reserve the cabins in the back as you are away from the main road and noise of traffic. The cabins are quaint. There is a patio in the front and back which has chairs for sitting. Upon walking in the cabin you are greeted with old furnishings (couch, loveseat, fireplace, table, mini-​fridge, microwave). There are several windows which decorate the walls and provide a view of the scenery outside, which is to die for.
The rest of the bottom floor has a small bedroom with a full or queen sized bed and one full bathroom. There are french doors in the bedroom and a small window in the bathroom. If you are staying in a colder month, be forewarned that their heating devices are a little shotty, and don’t really work at all.
Upstairs is a loft which has one full size bed and usually a twin mattress or two on the floor. Nothing fancy up here. All basic.
The place could definitely use renovations of a major sort, but that is okay. Something about the cabins seem cozy and comfortable; relaxing. One downfall to them is that you used to be able to burn real logs in the fireplace, but now you are only allowed to use the fake burn logs (I think they are called Duraflame). They give you one for free in your room, and extras can be purchased for an additional charge. They also used to have stove settings in the cabins, but apparently have removed this feature as well.
Conveniently located about 10 yards from your cabin is the steakhouse and tavern. They open early for breakfast and have a hearty selection of meals to choose from. I always order my typical corned beef hash and eggs, and have never been disappointed. They have excellent choices for lunch and dinner as well.
Everyone seems to know everyone in this place. It is definitely family owned and operated, which adds a personal touch to their service. They have a full bar with lots of beer to select from. You can even purchase additional 6 packs to go (which is amazing considering the lack of selection at the one convenient store in town). For the most part, the drinks are super cheap and they keep the bar open until they feel like it should close, which means potential late night drinking (until 2 am atleast).
During one stay we were offered to go hang out with the bartender and her friends at a keg party a few miles down the road and in the woods, however we cordially declined the offer. It still felt nice to know that they were that thoughtful and willing to party!
The rates for the cabins are reasonable. You are located in the beautiful pines and forest of Christopher Creek, AZ! Within walking distance you can follow the creek and stop to enjoy the sound of fresh flowing water. This place gets snow too, so be sure to go and check it out.
