WARA Bistro

First time trying Jajangmyun ever (was tempted by current kdrama obsession lol), and it was delicious! It comes with a side of kimchi. That with the extra side of pork cutlet I ordered (to get a little meat in) was AMAZING. The fresh noodles were so tender. Since they just barely opened, they have lots of specials offered. Free local delivery with min $ 30 order. Décor looks hip and clean. I hope ppl try it out, and are not dissuaded by the location (i.e. not directly in front of the parking lot). I’ll be back for the salmon carpaccio (and more Jajangmyun).

Hot pot was amazing it was out first time here and we are definitely returning! The location was a little hidden as its btwn the buildings but it was totally worth the driving around we did. On top of good food was the great service. One of my personal favs now

Ah WARA … I think you need to feed me more. I filled up on soup though, so don’t worry.
Service was very kind and understanding here and their shabu broth is good depending on what you put in it. The seafood one was so much more flavorful and bold than the bulgogi one, which I felt was diluted.
A shabu order is supposedly for two people to share, but the meat portion isn’t really enough especially if you happen to share with a guy. Their portions really are for 1.5 people. Does that sound weird? It’s basically enough for an adult and a child if you don’t drink the soup at all. They also give you a side of veggies and noodles, which the latter was quite excellent and chewy.
The sauces were nothing to write home about, but the waitress was particularly proud of their sesame sauce, which was quite good but not addictive enough for me to be back.
Taste of food was ok and really not enough to justify the prices for this place. Maaaybe I’ll be back for their jjajangmyun, but we’ll see. Sorry, WARA.

It’s raining… It’s pouring… A perfect time
to be eating… Hotpot that is!
Wara Is a Korean/​Chinese fusion restaurant located inside a plaza off Roswell in chino hills/​chino with loads of parking. They also have a great area outside for waiting.
Lots of trees and places to sit.
Arriving at 8:15pm on a Sunday evening for dinner we were seated immediately.
Jayah, our server, gave us menus and explained some of their dishes.
we opted to start with the braised pork belly that comes with (6) mini buns. And the beef (Bulgogi) hotpot that serves 2 people.
The hotpot here is shabu shabu, which means you receive a big pot of broth and all ingredients from the beef to vegetables and noodles still need to be cooked by you.
The service tonight was good,
We were asked by 3 different servers and owner, throughout our meal, if we needed anything else.
Now on to the food.
The braised pork belly and buns were amazing!!! the pork was cooked & seasoned to perfection.
The hotpot broth was good, but not great.
It was good enough to satisfy my hotpot cravings… & definitely enough to have me coming back to check out the other items… Oh only if I had a bigger stomach…

I usually don’t give restaurant a 5 stars. But this restaurant deserve every star possible. Service is to the spot. Food is tasty and fresh.
We found this place on Unilocal while out in the Chino Hills area. It’s inside a plaza, surrounded by condo homes and medical plaza.
Parking is around the whole complex.
There’s a Unilocal check in special.
We ordered the Jeon Gol wagyu for 2. Hotpot soup was yummy, came with vege, 3 sauce and homemade noodle.
The noodle were the best of the hotpot, I usually don’t eat the noodles that comes with hotpot, but these are fresh, soft, tasty and very good.
The wagyu is a bit chewy, but not bad.
Will come back again to try other on the menus.
The nice server said this is a spin off of an older restaurant in Fullerton. The parent retired and the kids open this one.

I love this place. Enjoyed an early lunch with my family here for the first time. We ordered the Kkanpung Saeu– fried shrimp served with little buns, jajangmyeon served with an egg on top, shrimp fried rice, and the very generous jjamppong hot pot.
We may have ordered a little too much but everything was delicious. The quality of the food was great and as others have mentioned the price is a little high, but it’s worth it to me and only about a dollar or two more than other restaurants of the same style that I’ve been to in Korea town.
The service was excellent as there weren’t too many other people in the restaurant at this time since we were having an early lunch around noon. The servers were friendly and we were very happy with everything that we ordered.
Will definitely be coming back here again.

This restaurant is one of my favorites place to get food anytime, whether they’re to go or dine in. I first discovered this hidden gem around summer time. At first I wasn’t familiar with the food and the menu, but the owner, Mike, is very patient and professional in explaining different menu items and never fail in recommending new food or menus to try out. As the end result, I ended up coming here on average of two to three times a day.
There are too many good food to mention, some of my favorites are black bean noodle (jajangmyeon), seafood noodle soup (jjamppong), and pork belly, super delicious. They also carry alcohol now, great spot for me to come in and grab drinks close to home.
Last but not least, their services are outstanding. They always come and check on you very often to make sure everything are ok and meet your expectations. I never have to raise my hand to get their attention at all, which for me very rare quality to have in a restaurant. Drop by if you are in the area, I strongly recommend it.

Very new restaurant. The plaza and the restaurant is quite, not that busy, but the food is surprising good. Glad the nice waitress recommended us to try spicy seafood hotpot. Decent amount for 2 ppl, looks red, but not spicy at all. The soup base tastes great, strong seafood flavor even before we put in all the seafood into the pot. You should try it if you like hotpot, shabu, etc. good food and service, no wait and easy to park. Check-​in gets 20% off!

Came here with my boyfriend and his parents… I was told the jjajjangmyun and jjambong is delicious and the best so we ordered that. We asked for extra spicy on the jjambong…
My boyfriend can’t handle spicy or any type of spice in food and he was able to drink the broth. The jjajjangmyun was very bleh. Yes, bleh!
The food was awful. I’ll come back one more time when I visit California again and update my review. Hoping that I came on a bad night!

Our first visit to WARA Bistro was good, but the prices are a bit high for what you get in my humble opinion. It occupies our former shabu shabu joint in the city of Chino. Upon entering, I felt slightly at home, and at the same time remise about my old hangout. Regardless, it was time to give WARA a try, and we were excited. A Unilocal checkin offer indicated 20 percent off (no restrictions listed), but the waitress said it was only for dinner. A 10 percent offer applied to lunch, which was pretty nice.
We ordered the hot pot combination for two with lean beef. The menu indicated it served two. For the almost 30 dollar (for lunch) price tag, I expected a well-​sized portion.
WARA provides a few included appetizers with the hot pot, such as kimchi, pickled cabbage, and a small house salad; all of which were very good. You can also add on various items to the hot pot; such as beef, eggs, vegetables, noodles, and more. The price of the add ons range in price.
Based on the server’s suggestion, we added on a side of noodles. We quickly found it was unnecessary. The lean beef was very good, but it was not enough for two people. Besides the small portion of vegetables and lean beef for the price, the taste was very good. If WARA can get their pricing a little closer to their competitors, it might be successful. A solid 3.5 stars, all things considered.

I am always glad to find a new amazing place in my area and Wara fit the bill with great food and exceptional service!
Décor is simple but cute, plenty of tables to enjoy hot pot both at the bar and several 4 seaters.
I enjoyed the salad and chips they brought out as a starter, light and refreshing.
Loved the egg rolls and my husband the shrimp, pricey, but fair portions, great quality and very tasty, good sauces as well.
We shared the kimchi broth hot pot with the lean beef, again pricey at $ 30, but considering the sides you get and that they add broth if you need it, it was a fun experience and a great lunch date.
Service was very attentive, always checking on us asking if we need something else, very much appreciated.
I rounded it off with one of their Brick Macaron ice cream sandwiches, strawberry, and it was perfect, rich and creamy, I should have gotten more, but given the $ 3.50 price tag they were pretty small.
Overall 5 star food and service, a bit pricey for everyday though.

Stopped in for lunch right before they got busy on a Wednesday. It’s not directly in sight. You need to park and walk into the small promenade.
Started with some egg rolls, $ 7. They looked like taquitos. Very good. Currently they do not serve alcohol but they have applied for the license. The alcohol notice was posted. Soft drinks are served by the can and they give water in a nice glass bottle.
Decided to go with the bulgogi hot pot with wagyu beef, $ 33. Wagyu beef? I had no idea. It’s a better cut of meat, that’s what the server told me. Comes with 3 items for the broth. The noodles are house made and so good. You can add extra stuff for additional cost; went with octopus and dumplings @ $ 3 for 2 of each. Everything was fresh and tasted great. They will bring more broth if requested, it’s unlimited.
I appreciated the menu because it wasn’t overwhelming. I am not familiar with hot pot items but I know that I love eating them. Made it easier for me to choose something. Overall, I thought the food was delicious. The presentation of the meal was wonderful. Service was great. I was going to give 4 stars because I wanted a beer with my meal but after reflecting on my selfish thought I reconsidered because the food is the star of the show here. Happy eating!

My friend and I got the jajiamian and the spicy seafood hotpot. Both were really good! I especially loved the broth from the hotpot and the portion is definitely enough for two! We were greedy though so we ordered the noodles too. I wasn’t the hugest fan of the noodles, but my friend really liked them, so YMMV.
The side dishes were really great as well and we couldn’t help but as for seconds. Service is really on point. I dropped a spoon during the meal, and a replacement came by so quickly before I barely even registered that my spoon had dropped.

I’m really glad something new came to chino hills cause this city is overflowing with many phở resturaunts. I really love how this place has variety and color to their menu, ranging from black soy bean noodles to Korean style hot pot. Food is really good! Most typical Korean resturaunts either serve their dishes too salty or too bland, kudos to the chef. Another reason why really enjoyed this place was because of their staff members. Our family was served by two beautiful ladies, I believe their names were Charolette and Tammy. They were really patient with our continuous favors. I really recommend this place, this is the perfect resturaunt to go for family outings and as a stress relief after a workload of school studies. I would rate this place a 10 if i was able to.
The Suyuk is a must get item

My friend and I have a knack for trying out new places to eat around our favorite dessert/​boba places. Knowing that we want Café 86, we started looking around the general area and stumbled upon this place. Once we entered, Nacho greeted us (I hope I got his name right) and seated us immediately. He explained the menu to us and was very helpful! We ended up ordering the braised pork belly appetizer (AMAZING!) and sharing kimchi short rib hotpot.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and we had two servers constantly checking up on us, making sure we liked our food and if we needed anything else. I’ll gladly come back to try more items on their menu. (:

Wow! Amazing place!!!
Where can I start!!! Hmmm had their special of the day which was hot steamed Alaskan king crab w butter. Never had that kind of King crab in restaurants under $ 40~50 price range. i would easily spend about $ 150~$ 250 if I was in vegas or something. Fantastic! !!. Also had jjambbong n jja jang myun, both with House homemade noodles. Thank you!!! I’m more like jjajangmyun guy, but I really liked jjambbong, cause it perfect broth. Fresh seafood n spiciness! Well balanced! Spicy chicken cheese! !! Yummy. Can’t wait to come back n try their hot pot!

This place is pretty new. I came in around 4:30 PM and it was not too busy. Some other reviews said that when it is busy, service is bad. However, I didn’t have a problem with service at all. The waiter checked up on us multiple times and made sure that everything was to our liking.

— Salmon Carpaccio
— Beef Bulgogi Soup with Lean Beef
— Green Tea Macarons
The food was delicious. I highly recommend the Braised Pork Belly. I normally don’t like pork belly, but it was very tender and flavorful. The Salmon Carpaccio was fresh. The bulgogi soup was also very tasty with subtle flavors. It wasn’t too salty like some other hot pot places I’ve been to. Of course, the Green Tea Macarons were good; I can’t complain about them.
I will definitely come back again.

Korean, Chinese, and Japanese fusion sounded interesting enough for us to drive out to Chino on a Friday night. Little did we know that we’d be spending the next 4 hours of our life there.
We arrived there at 7:30pm — it looked busy inside the restaurant but there were only a few other names in front of our party of 4, so we decided to wait. Well, we got seated an hour and 10 minutes later, at 8:40pm — we were hAngry and had already decided on what to order during the very long wait that we had.
For appetizer, we ordered:
— Sweet & Sour pork with mini buns (tan su yuk) — small $ 10.99
— Deep fried sweet chili shrimp with mini buns (kkan pun sae woo) — small $ 11.99
— Braised pork belly with mini buns (su yuk) — one size $ 9.99
Main dish:
— Bulgogi hot pot (lean beef) -$ 29.99
— Black bean noodle with fried egg (jja jang myun) $ 8.99
So after we ordered, we waited even longer — and it was about 9:30pm when we still hadn’t received anything to eat, so as service, they brought out fried dumplings — which was nice of them, but I would rather have had received the food that we ordered. And perhaps the wait might have been a bit more entertaining if there were some adult beverages on the menu — but nope. Be advised, they do not serve alcohol here.
When we started to eat, it was around 9:45pm. At this point, we had waited 2 hours for jja jjang myun — and if you know what jja jang myun is… it’s not something that’s worth 2 hours of waiting… unless it was out of this world, which it was not.
Honestly, my review is biased — because after 2 hours there’s only a few foods that will constitute amnesia level forgiveness. And because of the long wait, there was nothing that they could have brought out from their kitchen that would have made me want to come back.
The bulgogi hot pot was good, but my opinion was tainted from the aggravating wait.
Is the hot pot worth waiting two hours for? no.
The tang su yuk was good, but was it worth two hours? No.
The staff was kind enough to bring out free Brick macaron desserts for our table, which is why despite my frustration for their understaffed service, I can’t give them less than 2 stars. The owner looked exhausted and I honestly felt so bad for them I didn’t even have the heart to use the 20% off deal you get with a Unilocal check-​in.
I left Wara with mixed emotions. First, I was in disbelief that I waited so long for some hot pot and noodles. Secondly, I felt bad for the owner/​manager — we could visibly see that he was trying his best and it wasn’t enough.
I’ll be back. I don’t know when, but when I do, I sure hope that they have this place figured out — because if you’re going to mark up prices for basic Chinese/​Korean food, it better be worthwhile.

Me and my bf decided to try this place because it was new and the Korean/​hot pot idea intrigued us. We usually get boiling point or other Shabu Shabu places and we like it so we decided to try WARA a try, also because if you checked in you get 10% off. This is a new restaurant and there’s some improving they need.
We decided to try one of the hot pots (bulgogi hot pot) because we love hot pot. The broth was so bland! Honestly it tasted like miso soup… However they did give a lot of meat. But it was just regular beef that was kind of marinated… It was hard for us to finish the hot pot because we didn’t think it was that good. But they gave a lot of veggies so that was a plus. Maybe it’s because we’re used to dipping our meats and veggies in sauce and eating it with rice. The hot pot came with a bowl of noodles. Maybe we just ordered the wrong hot pot, but it WAS NOT WORTH the price of $ 24.
We also tried the black bean noodle. This is better than the hot pot. It wasn’t bland and it was honestly pretty good. There was a lot too for $ 10.
Overall, I just thought the price wasn’t worth the quality of the food.
