History

Established in 2006.

Dr. Glenn Johnston and Dr. David Clarke joined forces in 2006 at their current Ceanothus location to establish Family Eye Care, a primary eye care clinic unsurpassed in excellence.

In 2012, Dr. Anna Griffith joined the practice and added her expertise in Vision Therapy.

My glasses took SOOOOOOOOOOOOO long, I even brought it frames to save time. I usually have to wait 5 days but I had to wait 14 days, that’s a ridiculous amount of time. Will be going elsewhere next time I need glasses.

I highly recommend Dr. Griffith. She is probably the most caring and patient doctor I’ve come across. She has never acted rushed, always addressed any questions or concerns I’ve had, and has even personally followed up with me by calling to check in. Definitely goes above and beyond in every way. Both of my two young children have also had general check-​ups with her, and she’s been incredibly patient and engaged with them.

I can highly recommend Dr Anna Griffith for vision therapy for kids. My child has been having vision therapy for nearly 20 sessions, and has improved dramatically in convergence, focusing, depth perception, rapid naming, tracking and more. The best thing about Dr Griffith is that she is consistently patient and kind with the child. She knows how to move them through difficult exercises with gentle encouragement. She never seems rushed or impatient. I am thrilled with the results I’ve seen in my 9YO, who even says that the vision therapy «helps me see better.» We are lucky to have Dr Griffith in Chico.

This would be a 4 star rating if my prescription was correct. I got my eyes checked, everyone was friendly and I felt like the process was very thorough. I didn’t get my glasses right away, and I didn’t get them through their location.
Just to let people know, it’s been a few years since I visited this place. I ordered my glasses a year after my exam, when they came it was terrible, it was like wearing coke bottles, I couldn’t wear them at all. I put the glasses away, and until just this last week decided I would take my glasses and prescription in to Costco and get a second exam.
The Optometrist told me that my prescription was not even close, that he didn’t even know how it could be so off. So now here’s the facts. I paid family eye care for an exam, glasses and contacts. I bought glasses based on their prescription. Now I’ve paid for another vision check-​up and another pair of glasses.
Family optometry cost me a lot of money, if I still lived in Chico I’d be back for a refund.
Also I think it is very strange to pay for an exam, and then leave without your prescription in hand. I had to email them to actually get it, I feel as if they use this as a tactic to buy from them only.

My daughter has been through 20 weeks of vision therapy with Dr. Griffith. We could not be happier with the changes in my daughter’s life. She is 8 years old and in March could not read «The cat sat on the mat» After 4.5 months she is now reading at her grade level. She can catch and hit a ball now, she NEVER was able to do this before. She likes jigsaw puzzles, intricate coloring, dot to dots… all these things she could never do before. My daughter says «My whole world is clear now. Nothing is blurry anymore.»
