I rarely post reviews about my shopping/​dining/​travel etc. experiences. This one was so atrocious that I could not allow them to get away with it without saying something publicly.
I ordered a Vamp product and a couple of other things a few months back from
. «Sarah» wrote me to explain that the Vamp products are made to order and take a little longer as a result. I understood this going in, so no problem. Then Sarah writes me again several days later to say that the mold is broken and needs to be remade, so it’s going to take even longer. Alright, I can be patient, I understand that it’s a small business and it’s just toys after all. But this isn’t even the real problem.
I finally receive a box about a month later from
. I open it and it contains the wrong merchandise. I sent them an e-​mail and Sarah replied again with an apology, noting that they mixed up the shipping labels, and said they would get my order corrected and that I would not need to return the incorrect merchandise.
I waited about a week and sent an e-​mail follow-​up. No response. Then I tried calling the store and asked for Sarah. I was told I had the wrong number. When I explained to the sales representative at the store what had happened, he said he would get his manager/​owner to call me promptly. I received no call.
Finally I sent a last ditch e-​mail follow-​up to say that I would call Visa and raise a dispute with them if they did not respond and raise my confidence that my issue would be remedied. Still nothing.
Now I’m in the throws of raising a dispute with Visa to have the charge removed from my card. Imagine being on the phone with Visa and having to explain to a young lady what merchandise you purchased from an adult toy store. I was put on hold for a bit while the young lady inquired with her supervisor if I would need to explain in more detail than «Adult novelties». She came back on the phone and said I would have to raise the dispute in writing, likely to avoid any possible entanglement in something that might be misconstrued as harassment.
I didn’t imagine one could take the fun out of shopping for Adult toys. These guys managed it in spades!

What a really great store! A terrific and creative selection of fun toys for adults. I do therapeutic massage and needed a very specific kind of vibrator for a special client. The salesperson, Jay, was amazingly patient and helpful when I described the special needs of this client. I felt a bit embarrassed talking about something so intimate, but he was extremely professional, offered great suggestions, walked me thru the many options, and helped me make the best selection. I’m sure I’ll be back.

This is the best adult toy store I’ve ever shopped at. Quality products, helpful and friendly staff, good prices, and a great vibe (no pun intended) to go with it. Just love it.

A fun store with lots of interesting items. Pricey but I guess that’s to be expected. Staff (all two of them) seemed bored with their jobs. This place offers workshops every now and then. There is always a big crowd at these events. Imagine that, a dildo clinic!
Update 1÷30÷15: We went in to buy a fleshlight and the salesbimbo had no idea what we were looking for. We found their display and ended up educating her on the product she is supposed to be knowledgeable of. She had a crummy attitude. We went on to another store and found the fleshlight we were looking for. When we passed back by she was standing there on the sidewalk by the door smoking and texting while there were customers in the store. How unprofessional!

I’ve lived across the street from Tulip for a year now and around the area for 4 years. I’ve always wanted to go in for a vibrator but was never ready to dish out the dollars. Well, my boyfriend and I went on a weeknight around 9PM a couple of weeks ago. We looked around a bit and found that they have a pretty good selection of toys. They don’t have that much lingerie and there are no fitting rooms, but that isn’t what I was there for, so I didn’t care! Anyways, the receptionist was really great and helpful. He gave me honest reviews of the different vibrators I was looking at and recommended one he thought was the best bang for my buck. I agreed with him and decided to purchase it! They wrap your purchases up in a cute little gift bag with tissue paper, which I really appreciated for some reason. Anyways, will definitely be returning. It’s clean, well-​lit, and the staff are sweet and attentive. A+!

Really nicely designed store with a modest but quality selection of toys and other adult products. I love shopping here because it’s classy and stylish and won’t make you feel creepy or strange! As a young woman, I don’t like browsing in seedy stores and appreciate places like this that make their customers feel comfortable. Staff offers to help but lets you shop around in peace if you know what you’re looking for. Knowledge when you ask questions. Really beautiful display — the vibrators are all sitting in this little zen rock garden! Some items are a bit pricey — I’ve seen some toys here that I swear are almost twice the price I’ve seen them at other places. But they don’t sell crappy stuff, and it’s just a really pleasant shopping experience — that’s saying a lot, as shopping for such things can be a bit awkward! Not here.

If you don’t mind a smoking hot gay dude helping you pick out a vibrator, Tulip is the place to go. I’ll stick to the Internet next time, and avoid the embarrassment of confusing the remote for the toy as the toy itself.

Tulip stirs up mixed feelings within me. Ultimately, I am a lifetime fan of Early to Bed, but I happen to live *very* close to this Tulip, so whenever I need a little something something, I definitely end up here.
The selection is pretty nice, and unlike EtoB, they do have a nice selection of toys for boys. I don’t make purchases in this section too often, but it’s great to see that they have options. They also have a pretty nice selection of lube.
One of my biggest issues with Tulip is the prices – I feel like everything is just a bit too pricey – again, pardon the Early to Bed comparisons, but I’ve seen products at Tulip that are quite a bit more expensive at Tulip than they are at EtoB. It just seems like stuff can be a bit too pricey at Tulip.
The staff can be hit or miss – I’ve definitely seen some amazingly nice, amazingly helpful staff here who will answer your questions and help you find products that are right for you. I’ve also had the misfortune of interacting with their staff who can be totally ridiculous and act as if asking them a question about anything (even the price of something!) is horrifically offensive. I just don’t get it.
This last comment is a little arbitrary, but I liked the old store front so much better. A few months ago, they literally moved across the street, and the new shop is a little smaller and it seems weirdly organized. This is an odd complaint, but I miss the bigger store.
Overall, I will keep coming here but it’s not my favorite place in the city.

This is a very tiny store with a limited selection of goods. They have all the testers on the floor and the stock in the back of the store. Everything in the store looks like high quality and the salesman was very nice answering our questions. The price range is limited. I was there to shop for a few little bridal shower gifts but at Tulip’s prices, I would only spend that kind of money as an investment for my own personal toy.

Joey was beyond great, any question I had was answered so professionally and thoroughly that I almost forgot I was in a sex shop. Didn’t mind going over my budget for great customer service.

Tulip succeeds in bringing a touch of class to the sex shop, steering away from the gag gift and dungeon look of other shops. Tulip also carries many quality-​brand toys to peruse, which you might see on the net but won’t find demoed in other shops. The boys at Tulip were also highly knowledgable and helpful without being annoying, and we walked away with the perfect toy.

What better way to bond with my sorority roommate than to fondle Tulip’s clit stimulators and colorful dildos together?
Tulip has a fun, open atmosphere and a great selection of sex toys (all of which are on display and plugged in for you to test out… at least on your hands!), other non-​electronic bedroom toys, and plenty of awesomely informative sex books, too.
These toys aren’t cheap, though, so Tulip is definitely a splurge for me. Oh, and believe it or not, they ACTUALLY have a sale dildo section!

I really like the direct, no-​nonsense, informed attitude of the staff at Tulip, and the place has a great selection of merchandise. The place is very pro-​sex and woman friendly.
BUT (and this is a major point), I really feel like I’m being ripped off when I shop there. I went in and asked for a price on a 12-​pack of Kimono micro-​thin condoms. The very helpful guy at the counter quoted me a price of $ 23.00. I asked if he was sure. He was.
REALLY? $ 23 for a box of 12 condoms?!!
I passed on the condoms, went home, got online (
) and found the same box of 12 Kimono micro-​thin condoms for $ 11.95 — almost half of what Tulip was asking. In my experience, places that have that kind of markup on one item will generally have a similar markup on other items as well.
My recommendation would be to check this place out, see what they have that you like, get the 411 on it from their friendly, knowledgeable staff, and then shop around at any of Chicago’s other stores to see if you can find that item at a cheaper price.
I like their wares. and their staff is nice and informed, but I HATE being ripped off like that.

I simply adore this place! I went a couple of weeks ago for some play things. I was there right after they opened and had the whole store and the knowledgeable and very sweet clerk — Jeremy?- to myself. He basically gave me the 411 on the goods. He was very helpful and pointed me in the right direction. Thank you soooo much btw. You’ve improved my quality of life immeasureably! I can safely go out into the world a little kinkier and a whole lot smarter.

I worked in a sex shop for about a year so when I moved to the area I decided to check out Tulip. When I first walked in the door at tulip I literally had to pick my jaw off the floor. I have never seen a adult store that is more beautiful. Their wonderful window display not to mention the chandelier hanging in the middle of the room with a variety of panties hanging from it. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and knows what they are talking and besides how can you go wrong in a store that carries the new and best toy on the market (the WII Vibe).

I’m pro-​Tulip for a variety of reason. For one, the staff has always been friendly, though attentiveness varies. I’m sure that’s just because different people have different approaches to handling what can be a sensitive subject for many people. The place has always been clean and organized when I’ve been in.
I like that they have everything on display because sex toys and sexual enhancers are very personal and people really should be able to see what they’re buying before they shell out cash on an item.
Tulip has their own line of items including body oils and massage candles in a variety of scents; none of these are tested on animals, which I really appreciate.
Tulip also rates their books and videos and sorts them into specific categories to help clients find the type of book or movie they’re looking for, from educational to porn without plot.
They carry a decent selection of safer sex items, which is important to me as a safer sex advocate. On that note, Tulip also has regular classes on a variety of subjects, from the vanilla to the kinky.
The only thing I’d change about Tulip is that they’d employ me to help with the store and run some of those classes. That would be perfect.

Lovely little store with a helpful sales lady. They have a decent selection of toys and books. The lady made reccomendations and let me hold things while she showed me how they buzzed and told me all about the «healthy» lube she suggested for my honeymoon. Although, she never left my side so I didn’t get to explore much, but she did check to made sure everything worked before I left.
The only dissapointment was after I made my purchase, she just put it in a brown handled bag, no tissue or anything. I’m not prudish about buying things, but it does seem weird to sit on the train next to a random man with a bag full of sex goodies hanging open.

Wow! I’ve never felt so clean and not guilty after leaving this place. I came here looking for a bachelorette party gift and the manager was VERY helpful. Prices aren’t as bad as I had anticipated. She even suggested going to Cupid’s for crotchless panties as the lingerie she was selling was too pretty and classy for the occasion.
I can’t believe I admitted online to shopping for crotchless panties.
