i cannot believe this place closed. This and Kaffeine in Evanston where my all time favorite coffee houses. The décor was pretty cool and whenever I went there weren’t that many people around (probably why they closed) and the barista was always nice to us. One time, I bought some coffee and a bagel (amazing with cream cheese) but then after i decided to buy my mom a delicious scone and when I went up to the counter to pay with my card the guy told me they had a three dollar limit and the scone was only a buck! Anyway, i must’ve looked really heartbroken because he smiled and told me that it was okay and that I could have it for free!

My friend just informed me that The Fix Café has closed.
She and I are pretty sad. We both really liked this place.
I finally went like a month ago and now that school is back in already designated it as my study spot.
Reasons I loved The Fix Café…
1.The Damocles sandwich was great.
2.Their espresso drinks were great.
3.My friend and I adored their chai.
4.They RECYCLED!
5.They Had awesome music.
6.They were super friendly.
7.The art was awesome
8.The color scheme of the walls and furniture is cool.
9.It is less than 50 Yards away from my apartment building.
There is more than likely a 10 and higher. but still.
.I just really liked this place. It was really chill and some friends and I noticed how you could have parties or something there and thought how that would be a cool concept since I DJ we could have little get togethers.

I really liked this place. Very welcoming atmosphere and cozy, too.
I was very comfortable lounging for a little bit here. I would be happy to hang out for longer next time.
The décor was interesting, the music entertaining and not too loud, and the overall vibe was pretty good.

I love privately owned coffee shops. This place has a great clean but comfortable atmosphere and the staff are really nice.

Wow, I really like this place. Fun décor (maybe a little too much red), good background music (yesterday, something African but not the usual cacophony of drums and yodeling), friendly people (a patron pointed out the restroom), good variety of seats (comfortable couches/​lounge chairs and work-tables)…what’s not to like?
I enjoyed the strawberry tea smoothie but it was a little too sweet. They have a good selection of loose leaf teas, and a couple of refreshing choices for iced tea. I’m not a coffee drinker, so I can’t vouch for those drinks. Also, I had a very dry and bland blueberry scone. Next time I’ll try a different pastry. Or sneak one in from somewhere else.

I go to the Fix for convenience. The sandwiches have always been so/​so. I don’t feel like they’re quite up to the cost of the sandwich.
The free wifi is amazing and has allowed me to save the company website twice already, since moving to the neighborhood (I still don’t have high-​speed at home.) I just dash down the street to the Fix and solve whatever problem came up on the website, grab a coffee and a sandwich. And chill.
The place is Comfortable, with a capital «C».

AKA The Fix Café and Apartment Complex.
Go to the huge-​ass double-​wide courtyard building at the corner of Irving and Clarendon. Fix is in the garden unit (one-​time manager’s apartment?) that joins the two buildings.
As a result of its location, Fix is the comfiest coffee house I’ve ever visited. The space is broken up into a series of separate rooms, so it’s easy to find a spot to sit where you won’t be annoyed and/​or annoying others. (Unless its Unilocal Office Hours, and we drive you away.) There’s a great variety of seating, from overstuffed chairs and sofas to individual tables, so it’s easy to fill your needs. The bathroom even has a shower. If Fix would let me, I’d move in.
The only drawback is that the service requires you to be patient. I’m hoping there was only one guy working when I was there, and that the people chatting at the counter were customers, rather than ignoring me. If there is only one employee, he’s doing everything, from making your drinks and sandwiches to washing dishes, which is what he was doing while I was waiting to be served. When he did find his way back up front, he was perfectly personable and efficient. But please get him some assistance.

The details have been provided by the other reviewers, so I will speak of the energy.
It is vibrant, cohesive and binding.
The space is warm, inviting and comfy. Comfy enough to spend a lazy summer’s day, comfy enough to study the latest and greatest books to pass your next exam, comfy enough to Unilocal,IM and youtube the morning light away into afternoon.
Nice. Anyone with care can brew a decent cup of joe, but it takes special hearts to create a space, safe and kool like dat.

Personally enjoyed this place a lot, and going here for Unilocal office hours (great choice to come here, btw!) did give me a really good first impression of it. And considering I used to think Dollop and the Starbucks south of here were the only coffee houses immediately by here.
Only thing I’ve tried here so far was a mango smoothie with banana added to it, and it was pretty good. Haven’t tried any of the coffee, food, or snacks they have, so no comment on those. Props to having friendly staff, and a bigger food menu than I expected.
Loved how spacious the back 2 rooms are, so that when the front section of the place is packed for music concerts, you actually still can find a comfortable place to sit. Bathroom easily passed my clean test. :) Fix is definitely on my ‘return-​to’ list.
Crossing my fingers it eventually reopens at some future point!

This place is humongous for a coffee house! one would expect something on the small side, especially for the lakeview area, but this is just huge – which is nice since they have live music played in the front of the store & if you are looking for quiet – simply sit in the back on one of their very comfy couches. It is a wonderful atmosphere for groups ( Unilocal office hours) or if you are simply looking to study on your own (be sure to bring the ipod). They also have a huge table in the very back so if you wanted to play board games with some folk – that would be where to go.
The coffee is tasty & their food is yummy. My only negative right now is that it is about 5 miles from my home – sigh!

Pleasant, spacious interior. Bright and contemporary. You don’t feel like there are scuzballs in the used furniture, as one might feel in many coffee houses. They popped for new furniture and a clean décor. Brains. It makes the place more accessible for those who don’t attract to the pierced everything 20-​something set.
Great sandwhiches, too, but more fun is the yum coffee, which for someone like me, who is back to drinking coffee after a four-​year hiatus, is a real treat. I sort of wish it wasn’t in my hood — could make a habit of it — could need, well, a FIX.

This is perhaps the cutest coffee shop in the entire world. Ever. Tons of seating. The numerous comfy sofas nearly succeeded in keeping me from getting to work on time.
I ordered a breakfast sandwich this morning, and my only complaint is they didn’t toast my bagel enough, I know, seems silly, but pretty important in a coffee shop. And they put American cheese on it. Which isn’t even really cheese. Free Wi-​Fi.

Bright, spacious, beautiful, clean, friendly… great coffee, good food, places to sprawl, comfy furniture and the PERFECT location for yours truly to call an office away from home…
It’s really just the ideal coffee shop… hands down, my favorite. Cozy up and enjoy.

I think I am one of the dying breeds that is not a huge fan of yoga or coffee clubs (I mean shops:-) but this place appears to have a different agenda… less clicky, less Starbucki, & more alive.
SO since this place moved in to where my old neighborhood video rental was… I thought… who/​what ever moves in here… it better be good!
I stopped here after work last night to have a pizza and an Italian soda.
Yummy.
Also, great loose tea selection that I will have to try soon.
I love the décor of this place… so colorful and inviting. There’s plenty of seating areas, I love the large table where you can have a study group (wish this place existed when I was in school last year), there’s even a little bookcase that reads «Take a book, leave a book», lots of original (expensive) artwork, there’s an area in the back where you can BYOB and some wine party was going on, and as I was rummaging through some of their reading material… I noticed they have music on some nights also.

The BF && I recently moved to Lakeview from Wicker Park and fell in love with the Fix Café. Unlike most of the cafes in WP, the people here actually have a sense of humor && seems to give a fuck about giving you what you’re paying for.
The fresh juice and coffee are great, but the food is just okay.

Yay this place has free wifi, it’s close to my house, big enough to find a seat on a saturday and sells yummy baked goods to soak up alcohol from the night before so I feel well enough to do my homework! All of that without the «too cool for you» barista attitude.
They also stock tea from a great local tea place: My Place for Tea AND they let you recycle your cup insulator thingee. It’s also decorated nicely: bright and artsy done the right way.

How wonderful is this! Another independent coffee house opening up in my neck of the woods. The place is brand spankin’ new.
Great, vibrant colors paint the walls. Hanging on these said walls are eye-​catching works of art. Gleaming hardwood floors, nice and cozy sofas, tables for small groups to gather and discuss their next PETA event. The music that was playing when I visited was Jimi Hendrix.
So, to sum up the atmosphere, I’d say its cute/​modern/​with a touch of hippieness.
The menu consisted of four, yes four, sizes of coffee. I had my typical café mocha and it did not disappoint. The Boyfriend ordered an Italian soda and monkey bread. He wasn’t too keen on the Italian soda. There wasn’t a crumb left of the monkey bread though.
For those «going green» individuals, this might be the place for you. Their hot sleeves are made of cork which is more environmentally friendly. They also have a bin where you can drop off your hot sleeve when you are finished with it. Every little bit helps!
Considering there are three coffee houses closer to my place, I may not frequent as often though I will be back!
