Kevin K.

Business Owner

Kevin Kummer is a seasoned financial executive who has led teams and organizations as VP of Finance, Controller and Accounting Manager across a variety of industries, including association management, e-​commerce, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, not-​for-​profit and publishing.

Kevin has helped the companies and not-​for-​profits he has worked for prepare and file their annual tax returns. He has partnered with tax experts to strategize and realize tax savings for the organizations he has served.

Kevin is a Licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois and holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his undergraduate degree in accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-​Champaign.

As a relatively new business owner who always used to do my own taxes, I recently found myself in need of a real live accountant. For my business’s first tax year I used another accounting firm to be sure I was doing my taxes correctly, but once my taxes were filed and my bill was paid, I never heard from them again. I then met Kevin Kummer, president of the A.C.T. Group, and I decided to work with them for my second year of business.
Kevin and his staff were incredibly helpful in educating me about filing estimated taxes quarterly and are very understanding of my very small business and its needs. For example, even though I had turned in my documents late and would need to file an extension anyway, I had a minor freakout on April 14th. Even though he most certainly had more pressing matters, Kevin took my concerns seriously, taking the time to answer my questions and recalculate my taxes that very same day.

My husband was having a tax NIGHTMARE. After he spent quite some time trying to handle it personally, I said STOP: We need a professional to handle this RIGHT. I was referred to The ACT Group by a friend. We did a «data dump,» giving them everything we had on the problem. A month later we get a letter from the IRS, my husband owes NOTHING. Problem solved with documented proof from the IRS itself. Huzzah! Then The ACT Group did our taxes for the 2014 calendar year, and they did a perfect job, hands-​free and worry-​free on our part. Kevin, Valerie and the whole team are professional, friendly and fantastic. And the costs are very reasonable. And for those costs, you’re getting EXPERTS, not H&R Block dolts. I highly recommend The ACT Group.

Very pleased with this firm. I was helped by Scott Prince and other team members. I was late submitting my tax filings for my business (first year filing) and Scott and team met with us, told us exactly what they needed (and in some cases went and got the info themselves), worked through the weekend (!) and got the forms and paperwork submitted to the Fed before the Monday deadline, probably saving me some significant fees. They were awesome. I’ll be using them going forward for business and personal. Thanks!

We have worked with the A.C.T. Group in several capacities over the years and I have to say that their great reputation is well deserved! Every step of the way, from the first greeting to the quality and their work and relationship building is just head and shoulders above the rest!
I have never had a time when the staff was too busy to help, answer a question or even provide me with a resource if I needed it! They take on that work that I just hate to do and not only get the work done for me but can explain it to me in a way that makes sense to my non-​number focused mind.

ACT Group is our third accountant for our 6-​year old small business and I think we’ll be sticking with them for a long time. Their prices are reasonable, they have always provided good advice, and are helpful around tax time in reminding you to get things done, etc. They also do our employee personal taxes and no one has ever had a problem with their work. I have been a small business owner for 5 years. ACT Group has done both my personal and business accounting since that time.
The staff is professional, top quality, and always takes the time to discuss or explain issues for which I am too obtuse to understand (I think it’s safe to say most of us feel this was with regards to tax codes, filing taxes, etc.). In fact, many times I am directed to and receive responses from the owner, Larry Little. In fact, they worked directly with my financial adviser as I transitioned my company to ensure we did what was best for both the company and me. They really go the extra mile to ensure customers are happy and knowledgeable without nickle and diming you.
