History

Established in 2007.

Open since July 2007, Tavern At The Park is located in the historic Prudential Building and across from Millennium Park and offers acclaimed new American cuisine blended with an upscale décor.

Crain’s Chicago Business describes, «This elegant tavern epitomizes Chicago style and energy.» Tavern At The Park was also voted in the Top 10 Best Restaurants for Business in 2008 and 2009 by the readers of Crain’s Chicago Business.

Executive Chef Mike Clark has created a menu that emphasizes comfort-​food classics with a modern interpretation. Chef Clark’s education and vast Chicago experience (Gibson’s, Hugo’s Frog Bar & Lux Bar) helped him to create a diverse menu that appeals to a variety of tastes.

Tavern At The Park provides their guests with a modernly classic setting coupled with the timing and precision of a fine dining establishment, all the while maintaining the relaxed air and comfort of your neighborhood tavern.

Meet the Business Owner

Peter D.

Business Owner

Peter de Castro, Jr. most recently served as operating partner of Keefer’s, the successful steakhouse that received several «Best New Restaurants of 2002» awards.

Prior to his relationship with Keefer’s, Peter launched Bainbridges Restaurant in Chelmsford, MA and Peter and his wife, June, wrote the business plan and designed the basic Bainbridges brand concept for Stoney Brook Ventures, Inc., where Peter served as Director of Operations.

A true journeyman in the restaurant business, Peter served very successful national chain brands following his studies at the University of Kentucky, where he majored in business administration and marketing.

For most of his life Peter has had a continuous connection to the restaurant industry rooted in front line service delivery. His passionate, hands-​on approach to operating restaurants has won a large and committed following through creative, award winning food and service excellence.
