Three small tacos with rice and refried beans for 8.99.seriously? For a little Overly casual. Joint like this And here’s the kicker: 3:49 for chips all you get for free is a few limes and the drunken jalapeños. Not going back and don’t recommend it either.

As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I’ve visited Taqueria Los Comales multiple times. I’ve never had a problem until I visited this past Saturday night. I usually order the steak tacos or a steak burrito along with rice and beans, for less than 10 dollars it’s pretty filling and for a late night taco place I can’t complain. When you dine in, there are delicous pickled vegetables for you to munch on. The cauliflower is my favorite and I would be happy to eat that alone. Like usual, when I visited this Saturday I ordered a steak burrito with a side of rice and beans. I woke up the next morning with a terrible case of what I could only assume to be food poisoning. I spent the day vomiting, seriously regretting my love for burritos, and vowing to not come back to Taqueria Los Comales. I gave Taqueria Los Comales 2 stars because I’ve never gotten sick before, but food poisoning or stomach flu isn’t something I can easily dismiss. Hopefully it’s a once in a lifetime thing from this restaurant, but I won’t be back anytime soon.

I love this place just because, I think it’s great yummy. Brings back memories of the shows across the street. Come eat your heart out. Yuppies not invited.

Stopped in for a quick taco instead of fast food and man was that a great idea! We had tacos and chips and salsa. Everything was perfect! They have the best salsa I’ve ever had! $ 5 margaritas and open until 5am!

This Los comales location is whack(unlike the location in niles). I thought it was going to be just as good as the niles location. Steak meat tasted bland and not seasoned. Also while I was eating, there were ants crawling all over the wall. They did have quick service though if that counts. If you are around the area, try going to another taco joint, not this one.

Lots of chopped up bones in my chicken. Beans weren’t seasoned and enchiladas were swimming in verde sauce. It was like soup.

Tacos, rice, beans, and the puzzle are all great options to enjoy when you walk into this place. There’s a 30 taco platter for your bigger groups too.

The fresh orange-carrot juice fascinates me here but I wouldn’t come back here for the tacos or for the tacos and the pretty good horchata. I ordered al pastor, tripas, and bistek — I received al pastor, bistek, and chicken(?). Was too hungry from thrift-store shopping to get one taco corrected. The corn tortillas were on point as far as tenderness and flavor but the tacos were Los Angeles taco truck-sized instead of Chicago-sized and the meat was pretty dry. Granted, it was around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon, but meh. I did appreciate the big tubs of pickled carrots, cauliflower, and jalapenos. The condiment game was strong with spicy green and red salsas too but the meats were just not what they needed to be.

Everything is just OK. If you have the time to go to the South Side, the other restaurant locations are worth the drive.

Came in mildly intoxicated, as is my custom, carrying only 7 dollars to my name. I announced my plight to the cashier en espanol and she graciously accommodated me. For about 6.50 you can get 3 tacos of your choosing. I had the bistec and al pastor. All fairly solid and up to snuff. Enough to sate without stuffing. If this review was solely based on the tacos, it’d probably get three stars. The extra star owes itself to the pickled carrots: spicy goodness all around.

Why three stars? Mainly, they charge you for chips! There are a million places like this in a five mile radius. And this is the first I’ve seen that charges for chips. Maybe I’m blind, but haven’t seen one place that does. Not cool IMO, especially with places like Tacos Garcia, El Habanero, and Taqueria Moran so close. And I’d rather go to any of those. Got steak burrito and a chorizo taco. Was good for sure. Liked the salsa on the side. But again, value not there.

My order was screwed up, and the steak was like rubber! I wouldn’t even feed my dog that steak.

My drunken go-to when I’m with a group. Conveniently sandwiched between Logan Square, Bucktown, and Wicker Park alone makes it a destination. Service is fast and attentive, prices are reasonable, stays open very late or early depending on your crowd, plenty of seating, and a parking lot. I could end this review here. My only beef would be the tacos. Bite size. Over the years I’ve adapted but I’m good with the steak burrito or al pastor torta as well. The menudo is also delicious. I feel like this is everyone’s late night spot and we all rejoice. You can find me in here fucking with the jukebox too. Lamborghini Mercy!

This is my late night spot for sure! My favorite tacos are the al pastor tacos and steak tacos. I’ve had their chilaquiles there as well and they were pretty good. The service is fast and friendly even if they have to deal with a bunch of drunk customers! The place has gotten better since they now accept credit cards(used to be cash only) with a $ 10 minimum. They also serve alcohol now which they didnt use to before. I will definitely be back there!

TERRIBLE!!! This location is the worst. Ruined my whole Saturday night. First they served me a margarita that tasted like lime syrup. Then a steak burrito with an enormous amount of ice berg lettuce that was not cut up and two big sandwich slices of tomato, no cheese and a spoonful of steak. The charged for chips and something They tried to pass of as salsa but it was warm tomato soup. Also the charged for pico de gallo. If they are struggling this bad and being this cheap– I hate to find out where else they are cutting corners? Needless to say I sent my food back and my boyfriend and I shared an awkward ride home. & I’m STILL hungry!!! The Pilsen location is terrific. The one on Milwaukee should just close up shop…

We had a variety of plates, and they were all really good! The Cecina plate is awesome… I didn’t really know what dried beef was, but it’s basically really thin steak, so tender and amazing flavor. The chorizo torta is SO flavorful and the steak burrito had the creamiest sour cream I’ve ever had, completely delicious! They had a pilsner beer special for $ 1.75 a mug… the best deal I’ve ever heard of! And aside for the food a beer, the service was out of this world. The staff was so attentive! Really great food and wonderful experience!

A couple drinks probably would have put them at a 4, but I was sober as a judge and have to rule Taqueria Los Comales as guilty of being nothing special. Not bad by any means, but I probably wouldn’t make the trip to Logan Square just for their tacos. They have steak instead of carne asada, and you can definitely taste the lack of spice. They also opt out of the free chips and salsa, which is one of the best parts of eating at a Taqueria, and if you plan on paying with a card make sure you’re above $ 10 cause they have a minimum. Overall it’s ok, but I definitely think it’d be better after a few beers from Revolution Brewery up the street.

Come here if you want delicious food at good prices. This is a no-frills hole-in-the-wall. It kind of feels like you’re eating at a food court in a mall that’s about to go out of business. However, the food is top notch. I went here with my husband on a stroll through Logan Square one sunny spring day. We got a cheap pitcher of beer that really hit the spot and didn’t burn a hole in my wallet. I had the three taco dinner. You can get three different kinds! I got chicken, dried beef, and adobo pork. They were all delicious and very authentic. My husband ordered a steak burrito and loved it. The burrito had real chihuahua cheese! I feel like burritos never have it but this one did and there was a lot. I’d definitely go back any day I’m craving tacos – especially since the entire tab(including drinks) was under thirty bucks.
