Suzanne K Cooperman, MD

Dr Cooperman is always on time for appointments and responds to your calls promptly. I would recommend her. She doesn’t have good insurance options and is very very prompt with her bills but we all need to get paid. It isn’t cheap!

I love Dr cooperman. Granted I don’t see her for therapy, just medication management, but she’s always willing to listen, work with you, try new things, and find what works. I’ve seen her for 3 years and would recommend her to anyone seeking a psychiatrist.
As I said, I cannot attest to her therapy sessions. I just know she’s great for me and shows genuine concern.

I think Dr Cooperman gets a bad wrap. I have been seeing her for about a year now and it hasn’t been an easy ride getting my conditions sorted out, but Dr Cooperman hasn’t shown any of the negative sides all these other reviews shown here and on other review sites in the web. My mental illness has only improved with her help and vast knowledge of pharmaceutical interactions so don’t rule her out.

Absolutely horrible experience. After being misled about the insurance that could be used she sent me a $ 450.00 bill for two hours. What a joke.

This is one of the worst doctors ever!!! Good doctors with confidence don’t get angry when called Miss by mistake. Seriously, Suzanne, get over yourself!!!

Dr. Cooperman has been extremely supportive and helpful. I have made tremendous progress with her during the past year. I can’t agree with reviews below.

Sadly, I have to agree with the negative reviews here. Interaction with Dr. Cooperman is very strained and uncomfortable. Her therapy consists of asking some very generic questions and then saying things like «oh, that’s too bad» or «that sounds unpleasant.» Thanks for the insight, Doc. Fortunately, she did not nod off on me, but I left feeling like I had been ripped off… even more so after I received the exorbitant bill!

If I could give zero stars I would. I have been to a therapist before moving to Chicago & coulndn’t belive how unsatisfactory my experience was with Dr Suzanne Cooperman. She never asked any questions — made any statements — wrote any notes — NOTHING during any sessions… talking to my dog is more theraputic. I gave it over $ 1k worth in sessions & finally took my business and money eslewhere. On my last apointment she charged me over $ 200 as a missed apointment fee — because «insurance doesn’t cover missed apointments.» I would NEVER suggest her — and highly advise against waisting your money on her «services.» If you are looking for someone to try and push medications on you with peforming ZERO services on her end — you found your therapist!

I have had a very similar experience as the previous reviewer with Dr. Cooperman. I found her «sessions» to be very unsatisfactory. She often said nothing at all, even when I asked her for advice or insight. Most annoying — she would continually FALL ASLEEP! And this definitely made for an awkward situation. I would recommend NOT GOING TO SEE HER FOR THERAPY. She does also prescribe meds, and if that’s what you want then she might be OK. Overall, the worst therapy I’ve ever tried — unhelpful, embarrassing, and boring.
BTW, now that you see there have been two people with this same experience I wouldn’t take it personally if she falls asleep on you. Not knowing this has happened to others could make you feel that it might be YOU who was causing her to snooze. Not so. She’s just one snooze away from narcolepsy.

Dr Cooperman has an extensive amount of knowledge and credentials. Unfortunately, her bedside, or couchside, manner leaves much to be desired. Each session with Dr. Cooperman seemed as though it was the first. While I realistically do not expect my therapist, psychiatrist, etc-​ist, to remember each detail of my life, I do expect someone I see and pay every week to at least remember some of my major issues. My biggest complaint is that she would NOD OFF during about 75% my sessions, creating a very awkward situation — one I find very unprofessional for someone who is providing a paid service to one who is seeking help.
