This place never fails to deliver! The«all you can eat» is a fantastic deal and the quality is good as far as these all you can eat sushi places go. Sushi can be a little rice-heavy. Love their Chicago, American Dream, and Palatine rolls. BYOB, which is a plus. Service is great as well.

A solid and reasonably priced all you can eat dining experience. The food was fresh and any place that endorses BYOB etiquette earns an extra star from me. I do feel though that the place is a bit congested in terms of the seating and I wouldn’t mind spending a few extra dollars for more options in terms of the non sushi fare. Still quite a decent option that you can’t go wrong with.

I just left here, feeling sick mid-meal. I ordered the sushi special and the Manager wanted me to pay extra to take home most of my meal I couldn’t eat because I felt sick. I explained I eat there at least once a week, hoping she would make an exception to charging me extra and instead, she told me I should know the rules. I paid for the meal however, they threw it all away because I would not pay more. I will never eat here again and am debating if I should call the Board of Health since I felt fine prior to eating here tonight. Shame on the staff for treating loyal customers with such disregard.

Not great. Not fresh at all. Color of fish isn’t even appealing. Don’t waste your time or money.

The best BYOB sushi in Chicago. All you can eat for $ 20, get out of here. Literally the best deal you can find in lakeview, and the sushi is unreal good.

Meh. I don’t love this place, yet I find myself here a little too often for a few reasons. 1. 18.99 all you can eat sushi and you can go hard on it with various appetizers(miso soup, cucumber salad, tempura, etc). 2. Unlimited shrimp sushi. These usually go for 2 – 3 a piece anywhere else, here you can put away literally as many as you can handle. Amazing, the price alone and the unlimited shrimp really sells me. 3. BYOB. This includes La Croix or Diet Coke. Ambiance is average, staff is average. Wouldn’t recommend this for a date, but more so dinner with a friend you feel comfortable stuffing your face in front of.

In response to the previous top review saying that if you think this place is bad you are a spoiled brat who expects gourmet sushi for $ 19.99 — actually, in comparison to other AYCE sushi places, it’s still pretty darn bad. And I’m already cutting Chicago some slack and not putting them on Toronto standards, where for ~$ 25 you can have AYCE sushi ANDSASHIMI. This is why they are still getting 2 stars even though they really deserve none if it was a real restaurant. First they messed up which salads we ordered, but we thought this happens often at AYCE and it wasn’t a big deal so we just ate what we were given. My sushi plate came out at a fairly ok pace. It was very mediocre sushi, not really a step up from super market sushi. Huge still-warm chunks of rice were heating up my sushi(ewwww) but hey like I said I cut AYCE places some slack. Then it got a little inexcusable. We waited for about half an hour and my friend’s food is still not here. Good thing sushi is easy to share so he just ate off my plate. Then the table next to us already got their 2nd order, which they placed a lot later than our order, and we still didn’t have his. I complained to the waitress, and she just talked to the chef and assured us it’s «coming soon.» After about 10 minutes another waitress came around asking if we’d like a 2nd round. I snapped that it’d be nice if we had our first round to begin with. So again she went to talk to the chef and told us it’s coming. STILLNOFOOD. I had to put in my third complaint. By the time the food came, it was almost ANHOUR after we came here. Did they just forget about our table even after 3 reminders or what??! Since we came late at night, it wasn’t like there was even a lot of people around.

I have been to several Sushi Para locations(depending on where the friends who want to go there are) and I definitely have my favorites. This one is really really low on the totem pole. The Good: It is BYO, which is awesome! And if you and a group of friends want a HUGE amount of sushi, Sushi Para has you covered. The price is really reasonable. $ 15.99 for lunch $ 18.99 for dinner. The Bad: this location makes the least consistent rolls and nigiri. The last time I was there, there was just the tiniest sliver of fish on a large rice ball for my nigiri. Boo. Also, they started frying their shumai… Not a big thing, but fried shumai are not that great. Bring back the steamed! I will probably always go to Sushi Para, but if you can, go down Clark a bit and grab Sushi Para II. Way better.

We tried to go to the other Sushi Para, but they quoted a 90 minute wait. No thank you. So we took a cab to this location where we waited 20 minutes. The service was pretty good considering it was 8PM on a Friday night. We ordered various rolls and I thought the octopus appetizer was pretty good. I wish seaweed salad didn’t cost extra. Plus it’s BYOB!

I used to come here all the time for moderately priced sushi. I’ve had at least one friend get sick after eating here but didn’t think much of it. However last time I was here I found PLASTIC in my sushi. Lydia, who I believe was the manager on duty told me that the best thing she was willing to do was take the sushi away. I left hungry, disgusted and had to pay full price for a meal I didn’t finish. I won’t be coming back here till they get better management.

All you can eat rice! Byob. Long wait for low quality sushi that is over filled with rice. You are probably better off ordering the cooked rolls: spider roll. Service was poor because the waitress stated: you cannot finish 10 +rolls. First of all, this is a all you can eat and I don’t care! You can take the leftovers for 50 cent per piece.

Small little place with a quiet, but welcoming feel. When we entered, it was tooooo quiet but began to fill and got much more comfortable. The service was slow, the communication barriers were strong, but for all you can eat at only $ 18.99, it can’t be beat. Not the best sushi in Chicago but still was good! Worth it if you’re just looking for a cheap sushi fix. Tip! You have to pay for anything you don’t eat. It’s on the very top line of the menu, but in the hour I was there, at least three people complained.

Wife and I went in for dinner because Toro had a long line. BIGMISTAKE. We ordered two non sushi dishes, beef teriyaki and udon noodles, two very common dishes. After more than 30 minutes wait I inquired the rather unresponsive waitstaff what was taking so long. They told me that for some reason the dishes take long time and that they were waiting for both dishes to finish before serving. Another 15 minutes passed by and they served just the udon without the beef teriyaki. Apparently they gave up on the beef teriyaki because more than ONEHOUR passed by and the wait staff just kept ignoring us and offering no apologies for the delay. After more than one hour and 15 minutes passed I demanded to speak to the manager and the manager said the Teriyaki was still not finished and suggested that we just cancel the order. We left and with my wife still not receiving her dish! Also, the udon was poorly cooked with very meager serving. The details on the menu said the udon had shrimp, fish, and scallop. Apparently this means 1 shrimp, 1 scallop, and 1 piece of fish. STAYAWAY

I have never left a one star but I was so upset with my service last night that I feel like i have to let people know. Let me start off by saying I have been to two of their other locations and have loved or liked my experience. I called in and asked how long it would be they said 15 to 20 minutes I walked in and no one acknowledged us for 20 minutes when they finally did they said(another) 15 – 20 minutes, we should have known then but we waited anyway. We put our order in at 830, 845 our appetizers came out. At 9(after asking twice) we finally got our water and at that time I asked if our food would be out soon. They said they would check and never came back. 15 minutes later I asked again, she said it was being cooked, 15 minutes I asked if it had been started because we put our order in an hour ago. The manager, who’s name i did not get, walked over and grabbed our order sheet and gave me a bill for our appetizers. He said they were new chefs(although from the other reviews i doubt it) and that was why it was taking so long. I have NEVER had an experience like this and I will never be going back. We were not the only people who walked out last night, the couple next to us had also waited long enough and walked out about 40 minutes before us. The manager was rude and the staff, although nice clearly did not know how to manage their space because many tables didn’t have water because they were«waiting for cups». So if you want to wait over an hour for bad service, and no food, be my guest. Or you can drive 5 more minutes down clark and get better service.

Of all the places to go get sushi in Chicago, let alone lincoln park and lakeview, I would rather go somewhere else. Maybe it would be better for a small group or a date but the service was f’ing terrible. Yes, f bomb. We went for a birthday dinner with a large group. The service was terrible. The one waiter did not understand the menu. The woman that might have been a manager was so rude it was insane. I understand that with a large group its hard to keep track of orders, but do not come to the table and when a customer says they wanted to check on their missing meal then say it came and point to another guest eating. Two people can order the same dish… Also, we did the all you can eat and then waiter said they(the chefs) were going to be confused because they are too busy so he asked us to write it on one sheet. That was a terrible idea. They only brought us half the order and then kept saying the rest was coming but it NEVER did. So we re-order the missing items. They also never said what anything was so we had a giant plate with a bunch of random things. When we asked the woman to explain she gave us attitude and walked away. Anyway, all ranting aside, just go to any other sushi place within a mile radius and you’ll be good.

If you bad mouth this place, I have one piece of advice in response: YOUARESPOILED. Seriously. Everyone on Unilocal these days thinks they’re a damn professional food critic. FOR A BYOB — ALLYOUCANEATSUSHIJOINT — this place has ANY other place beaten in the market. If you’re looking for fancy shmancy sushi and fine dining… Clearly you came to the wrong place, and gives you no right to rate any sushi para chain less than 4 stars. Clearly you don’t fall under their niche of people. Why can’t you just understand that and go buy your $ 150 sushi dinner elsewhere? People these days, I don’t understand. Get over yourselves.

I’m really surprised at all of the negative reviews! I came here two different times with a friend and got the all you can eat(about $ 19/person). That’s super cheap if you come hungry and love sushi. Obviously it is better if you come with someone/a group so you can share. We ordered a variety of items off the menu — everything from all different kinds of rolls to miso soup to pot stickers. Everything we had was really good. I thought it was a great value for how much you get! You do have to pay a fee if you don’t eat everything, and you can’t take it to go. So… eat up and only order what you can eat! The service isn’t perfect(a little slow at times), but we have always been seated promptly, haven’t waited that long for food, and had plates cleared in a timely manner. I would come back!

I like this location! I have now been to every Sushi Para that I can think of. Sushi Para, Sushi Para 2, Sushi para D. I’ve missed Sushi Para M, apparently. Each one has been noticeably different, with different menus, levels of service, and quality. Price has been more or less the same. On a basic level, sushi AYCE means: eat what you order, don’t order what you can’t eat. The variable here is what options you have to order from on the menu. At all other Sushi Para locations the dinner AYCE menu includes 1 or no veggie rolls, which basically means that it’s not a good deal for my vegetarian wifey. This one includes like 4 different veggie rolls and veggie tempura as well(which sucked). The food itself was a good quality, this location looked notably cleaner than other locations, and for once an AYCE sushi menu that is more vegetarian friendly. On the flip side, I’d probably skip getting the Tempura as it’s so oily that it’s gross. All in all, Todoroki remains my #1AYCE sushi place but Sushi Para D is a close #2 with their veggie friendly AYCE. They are also BYOB.

AYCE sushi! DROOL. While the quality of the fish won’t be quite on par with other Japanese sushi restaurants, it’s totally worth it. We went for lunch, so we didn’t BYOB, but you can certainly keep that in mind when you do go. I’ve rated according to sushi quality. Plus, it’s AYCE, so you just have to be realistic about the kind of fish you’ll be getting. Careful: they use a lot of rice on the nigiri, so make sure to be realistic with how much you order! If you know that your eyes are bigger than your stomach, try to start out conservatively and get small orders. You can always put in another order after you get your first order. It’s usually quite painful if you order too much and try to finish it all… which is usually the case since they charge you for any left over rice or sushi that is not consumed. Know your limits, folks! Fun fact: I used the word«realistic» three times(including this). I guess I really want you to keep it in mind haha.
