Just came in tonight since I was in the area. Two stars for the nice lady running the shop and quality of chocolates is ‘eh, ok’. Better than Hershey’s but nowhere close to the French market. But if you want a hugely overpriced and under-quality chocolate experience, this is your place. The price communication disappointed me enough to takeaway three stars. Be aware that the menu on the wall is wrong. There is a difference(not on the menu) of ‘American’ vs ‘Belgium’ chocolates of $ 1 more per chocolate(you have to get a 4-minimum box), and as nice as the lady was, she didn’t communicate this until after I had them packaged up. I had the worst cold and did not feel like putting up a fight that evening. But I should have. There should be some method of written communication to the customers what they are being fairly charged. You don’t go to a restaurant and order food off one menu and get ‘upcharged’ on the bill. It’s just bad business. Put a sign up if you need to charge differently. Even a cheapo paper sign will be better than horrible service. Needless to say, I won’t be coming back. Truffles and chocolates are much better quality at the French market.

Wanted some great chocolate. Went here. Bought 20 piece box, THEN tasted one. Terrible. Too sweet, dry inside. Didn’t finish one piece. Gave them to Mom, who loves chocolate. Her first words: not as good as Godiva.

The store has an amazing selection of chocolates, we get gifts from here frequently and my wife especially loves the place. The only reason this doesn’t get a 5 star is customer service. The person there always seems like we disturbed her from whatever work she was doing on her laptop when we enter the store. She also is not very knowledgeable about the fine chocolates they have. With a less distracted and more lively staff, this place could do a lot better!

Godiva’s chocolates taste like dirt compared to these delicious treats! If you have a serious sweet tooth or if you’re an occasional chocolate eater THISISTHEPLACETOGO! The staff is friendly and eager to help! This shop is also part of the«Chicago chocolate tours» and there’s a reason this is their last stop… they save the best for last! It’s a great place to go & hang out as well, access to their Wi-Fi is a PLUS+++.

We came to KC hoping to claim a deal we received on Rue La La several months ago. We told James who was working at the time we came in that we had this deal. Upon picking out our chocolates we were told that Karin was no longer honoring the deal, even though the terms and conditions clearly said that the our coupon would be valid for the original amount after the expiry date. James called Karin who then rudely expressed«she was no longer interested in participating in the event» as though I worked for rue lala and told me to call them and request money back. Terrible service seeing as your deal with coupon sites don’t affect me in the least as a consumer. So not only did James knowingly wait until we had filled our order before telling us we couldn’t use a coupon he knew we had, Karin was rude and bitter over her dealings with sites she agreed to partner with. You got us on the hook for over $ 50 for 15 chocolates KC and we will never be returning. Ill be sure to direct people down the street to Trader Joe’s next time they’re in the mood for chocolates without the sass or trouble. * Promotion Period: April 11 through August 3, 2012. I hosted a bridal shower this past weekend for a bride-to-be that absolutely loves chocolate(especially dark chocolate). Given that, I thought it would be a blast to have a special«chocolate tasting» to cap off our afternoon. KC Chocolatier was extremely helpful in working with us to provide the party with exactly the curated experience I was hoping for. Karin herself came and walked us through a tasting of four, decadent dark chocolate varieties — each one was amazing and the presentation was fantastic! Highly, highly recommend!

I tried. Really. I’d walked past KCC for a couple of months with no more than a bemused look on my face. But we all knew how this would turn out. Moth, flame. Fat kid, cake. There was only so long I could go before I entered into the four walls and came back a changed man. One Thursday, walking east on Diversey, I could resist the siren’s song no longer. Before I knew what was happening, I was inside… and, it was on. Don’t come here expecting to run around like a wild person and thrust your grabby paws into buckets of free samples. KCC is a classy joint. Prepare to have conversations about chocolate. Here, each guest is attended to and the experience is curated. For chocolate? Oh me, oh my. Get ready to examine the whys behind your lust for the cocoa bean. Saddle up for a fancy red box filled with treats and tied(properly) with a fancy bow because presentation matters. These chocolates are gifts and a four(yes, I said four; don’t judge me) piece option is surprisingly affordable. If you want some quick bon bons to stuff into your maw, get some M&Ms from the vending machine. But, if you want to luxuriate in chocolate bliss, treat yourself to something nice and pretty. Oh yeah… and, don’t share. Your honey wants some of this good love? Make her buy it herself. Can you tell I’m single?

Very friendly staff, free samples, and charming store. Now, if you’re a fan of the Fannie May style chocolates this might not be for you as I found them to be high quality but not sweet. They really seem to specialize it hazelnut flavors and do it quite well(think Nutella but in a chocolate). Also the packaging is lovely. A very nice gift for a house warming, dinner out w/friends, or a thank you. Only con is it’s location as parking is difficult and the area is congested. If these aren’t issues for you stop by for a taste.

Tasty Belgian chocolates. Beyond fabulous customer service. What else do you need? OK, more truffles in your mouth. Anything else?

I am addicted to the chocolates at KC Chocolatier! Every time I stop in, I am welcomed with a friendly greeting as well as a great new sample to try. Karin and staff are really knowledgeable and help me to create the perfect chocolate assortment every time. I have tried over 10 different kinds of chocolates and can honestly say I have never been disappointed. Welcome to the neighborhood, KC Chocolatier!

I’ve been here twice since they opened, to buy my mom and boyfriend(both chocolate fiends) some chocolates. I haven’t personally tried them yet; I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but they got rave reviews from both my mom and my boyfriend! The employees were very nice and helpful. I’m really excited to keep visiting this store to spoil the chocolate lovers in my life.

It seems fitting that my first review of 2012 would be for a chocolatier. I have an addiction to anything cacao, so for me to set foot in this shop and not spend a ton of money required restraint! Luckily, I was shopping for hostess gifts and not myself(although that didn’t stop me from adding a hazelnut dark chocolate crunch bar to my order… the first step is admitting you have a problem, right??). The bygone era of the candy man is making a comeback here, the kindly older gentleman who assisted me with my assortments offered information, suggestions and samples! When I was too high on chocolate fumes to make a decision, he left me alone for a bit to sort through my chocolate-covered thoughts. I decided on two 8 piece assortments($ 14 a box), I was able to pick and choose exactly what I wanted and it was all nicely wrapped with a bow on top. All in all, this is a horrible place to have so close to my apartment… It’s basically a guarantee they will get a piece of all my paychecks! Yay?

Being that KC(not to be confused with Kansas City) is located on the Lincoln Park and Lakeview border of Diversey Street, I’m shocked to be the first to review it since there are super Unilocalers in that neighborhood. My friend brought me here to be spoil with an early Christmas treat after reading about the Belgian Chocolatier on Metromix. I was surprised to find it in the building that once housed a strip of «out of business» stores. Now KC Chocolatier joins 2 Sparrows and Sushi Para. I walked in and was immediately greeted. I stared in awe at all the beautiful chocolates, truffles and patties lined up in the glass cases just waiting to be purchased and eaten. They had a little tasting for free that was yummy and almost made me purchase more chocolate than I originally had in mind. I created a cute, ribboned box of 8 assorted chocolates for $ 16. They have a variety of box sizes from 2, 4, 8 and onward. Of course, I chose all dark chocolate delights for my box. All have been delicious so far with the marzipan creations at the top of my list, plus the chocolate ganache square pieces with the KC logo in gold. One small complaint is to have the business place a sign with the type of chocolate for the employee to see so I do not have to point to each individual chocolate. It seemed like a guessing game at times. KC also sells reasonably priced chocolate bars that are made of international cocoa from a variety of popular chocolate countries like Costa Rica, Peru, Ecuador, Madagascar, Vanuata, and Uganda. It beats the prices of similar Belgian chocolate at Baladoche just north a few blocks on Clark. I hope Chicago happily welcomes the new USA flagship chocolate store(with it’s mother company of Kim’s Chocolates in Tienen, Belgium)! If you can’t make it into their store, you can purchase their chocolates on their website via Paypal. No matter what, be sure to check out their website for fun, delicious chocolate recipes.
