I don’t even know how to put in to words the admiration and love I have for Amanda and Spilled Ink Press. What started out as a connection through my sister-​in-​law, turned in to a 10 year business and personal relationship.
Having been in the event industry myself now for 15 years, to me, the mood is set from the beginning. The first item sent to guests. A save-​the-​date, an announcement, an invite, no matter what it is, Amanda’s creations are personal and priceless. I am not the easiest client to work with as I expect a lot out of my vendors, especially if I am personally using them and then referring them to my own clients. Above that, for my personal wedding, my mother’s opinions were just as important and we weren’t always able to envision the same thing. Amanda was able to listen to both what my husband /​I wanted, along with what my mother wanted (as we were the last of 7 weddings in my family) and make us both speechless when the final product of our invites and wedding collateral were delivered. I can not tell you how many people at our wedding made note and commented about the personal touches they saw tied through in everything we did from the invites, to the programs, to the table numbers, menu cards and donation cards. They all represented us perfectly as a couple and added that special touch to our event.
Not only has she done all of our wedding items, she has also done baby shower invites, party invites, bachelorette party invites, thank you cards and save-​the-​dates for me or an event I was hosting. Each one was clearly thought out with the event in mind and completed to fit the bigger picture that each item was created for.
I have honestly lost count of how many times I have used Spilled Ink Press for personal or business use. They are my first and only go-​to when I need personalized items. Her creativity is awe inspiring and the final products are always prepared to perfection. She always works within my or my clients constraints and delivers exactly what we are looking for even if we are not able to put it in to words for ourselves! She truly is a pleasure to work with each and every time. Hands down, I would never go to anyone else to for my paper needs. In ten years, I have returned each and every time, and plan to do the same for many more years to come!

Amanda was an absolute delight to work with. She truly took our vision (and we had a LOT of opinions about the look of the invitations) and brought it to fruition. She was able to fuse aspects of the building we were married in (historic building in downtown Chicago) with the renderings from the engagement ring my husband designed for me. She was so patient and helpful picking out the colors, type of paper, personalizing every last detail with us. Also, you can’t beat the price. Her all-​inclusive, organized, pocket invitations are less expensive than the a la carte options I found on wedding paper websites. And… when we had to change our programs to reflect a death in my family the Wednesday before our Saturday wedding… Amanda hand delivered them to the hotel Friday night. She was so incredibly kind and thoughtful and always 100% professional. I recommend Spilled Ink Press to all of my friends and family. I look forward to working with her again in the future.

After reading reviews about them being late to respond to some people, we still decided to try them out since we liked the pictures on Unilocal and website. We had a nice consultation about our save the dates for our destination wedding and she showed me a lot of examples and came up with ideas to customize ours.
After 2 – 3 weeks both my fiancé and I called and emailed them to find out how our proofs were coming. I finally found another place as I was having a destination wedding and wanted to get the save the dates out as soon as possible to give people time to plan for travel. I also wasn’t sure if she would ever reach out based on previous reviews. I finally heard from her over a month later apologizing how she «dropped the ball» and gave us 1 idea for our save the date. It was an ok idea and her price she quoted wasn’t bad but I was really disappointed in how she got us so excited at our consult and then didn’t call us back or answer our emails for a couple weeks. At least respond to us and tell us you are still working on it. Don’t ignore us until you have our answers. She was very nice but their business wasn’t a fit for us.

My husband and I really enjoyed working with Amanda for our wedding invitations. We were so happy with the quality and aesthetic of the invitation, and the prices are reasonable as well. During our initial meeting, she showed us samples of work and we she drew up sketches to suit our style. The results were gorgeous and we were excited to send them out to our wedding guests. Amanda was also helpful when it came to what type of information to include on the invitation. We needed to communicate a lot of information and it was presented succinctly and elegantly on the invitation.
The reason why I gave three stars is because the process was a bit slow and it was often hard to get a hold of Amanda. Our first meeting was in May and then I didn’t hear from her again until September. I also was interested in other services such as escort cards and stickers, but I could not get a hold of her for these items until 2 weeks before the wedding by which time I already made these items myself. Our meetings with her, however, were very pleasant and she was super sweet.

Simply brilliant is how I would describe Amanda, Tony and the Spilled Ink Press team. Amanda worked with us on our wedding invitations as well as all our wedding graphic awesomeness — from our programs to menu tent-​cards to take-​away tags, our welcome sign and so many details in between. My husband and I would both consider ourselves «graphic-​snobs», and The SIP team’s graphic prowess was exactly what we needed! SIP not only helped to set the tone with our invitations, but also inspired many ideas for our festive fall brunch afternoon to help keep the spirit of our event unique, cohesive and very much «us». We received so many compliments on those very things — all owed to Spilled Ink Press. We couldn’t be more grateful!

I received my wedding invitations from Spilled Ink this week and am so impressed! I wanted a traditional Indian wedding invitation, but more sophisticated, concise, and of higher quality paper than something I could find online or in India. After seeing Spilled Ink’s Unilocal reviews, I decided to meet with Amanda. She worked with my family and me to create the perfect invitation. She even went above and beyond what I expected in terms of design, guest addressing, and layout. She even was able to get everything done in a short time frame. I would definitely recommend Spilled Ink to anyone looking for spectacular wedding invitations!

My now husband and I were actually recommended to come to Amanda at Spilled Ink from our hair dresser. Our decision to go with her was one of the best we made for our August 2014 wedding! She is absolutely fantastic. I can’t say enough about her work.
We really didn’t want just plain invitations for our wedding, we wanted it to fit our theme (at the Botanic Garden) but still be modern. She hit the nail on the head with the first mock up design. We didn’t really have any changes. They were beautiful and all our friends and family commented on them.
We had met with other designers previously and it just didn’t compare to what we got with Amanda at Spilled Ink. Amanda did the design work, printed the invitations, AND printed all the names, addresses, and return addresses on all our invitations for within our budget. We realized early on a lot of people charge extra for these special things. Because we had such a great experience with Amanda, we also had her do our table numbers, escort cards, and programs. She did equally as great of a job on these extras we had!
Even after we got our invitations printed and we had 2 names we forgot about on our guest list, she took the time to have them printed, and delivered to our apartment at no extra cost. Amanda and her husband are one of a kind and I wouldn’t look anywhere else in Chicago but to her!

This review won’t do Amanda and Spilled Ink Press justice, but I’ll try.
We found Amanda after a negative experience with another designer forced us to look elsewhere– but that designer did us a favor since it put us in front of Amanda, The wedding invitations she created for us were beyond any expectation we had. She is so modest and claimed that it was our vision, but I could not have been happier with the final product. In fact I stared at them on and off for about a day because I couldn’t get over how awesome they looked! We got tons and tons of compliments from the uniqueness of the pocket design to the overall look of the invitation. In fact, a friend of ours who has been to 100 weddings said that ours was the best out of all of the invitations he’s seen!
Not only is she extremely creative, she is a pleasure to work with. Our interactions were very personal and I felt totally comfortable giving Amanda honest feedback and working with her on every detail of our invitation. I was sad when we picked up our invitations because we were done working with her!
Spilled Ink is also very professional in terms of how they communicate their design process and cost structure. Amanda sent us information before we even met with her that went over the types of designs they offer as well as pricing– which we highly appreciated because we knew exactly what to expect. They are very clear in their contract on every aspect of pricing and process which made things go very smoothly from start to finish.
Cannot say enough good things and cannot recommend Spilled Ink enough for wedding invites or any stationery need in general!

Fiancé and I did not want the same ol’, same ol’ wedding invitations. We’re not formal, traditional folks; what we care most about is comfort and fun. We wanted our invites to reflect our personalities and the vibe of our outdoor, casual BBQ wedding. We also wanted to work with vendors who were a balance of laid-​back yet professional.
Amanda is just that and created a masterpiece that went above and beyond what we ever envisioned! So many people sent us messages about how much they loved their invitation. The custom-​made paper-​goodness was such a wonderful way for Fiancé and I to share our happiness with our loved ones.

Such a positive experience! Amanda is an expert of wedding invitations and we couldn’t be happier.
First the service: Amanda was always responsive and easy to coordinate with. We had a bit of a time crunch and she was able to produce beautiful invitations in just 2 weeks. She is patient, answers all questions, and allows for lots of deliberation. There are so many decisions to make and she steered us to something very tasteful that fit our personalities and the tone of the wedding.
Next the product: We went with the most expensive invitations at $ 10 a piece. They are little works of art. Ours have an ivory satin ribbon and are mostly white. We wanted something classic and traditional, but she also has an array of options if you want something more fun and edgy.
Nearly every wedding guest has commented on how unique and beautiful the invitations are. We feel very proud of them and highly recommend Amanda and Spilled Ink.

My fiancé and I were on a budget for our wedding, but we wanted to work with eco-​friendly vendors if possible. So I was thrilled to find Spilled Ink Press. Amanda was amazing. She met us for coffee and talked about what we were looking for and she showed us her past work, which is all amazing.
Now that our save the dates and invitations have gone out, we are getting so many compliments from people. She did an amazing job on both, and she is so nice to work with. We wanted to move up the send out date, and Amanda was completely amenable to that. I am thrilled with the experience I had with Spilled Ink, and I would recommend them to anyone who needs stationary, whether they are eco-​conscious or not.

Yikes, I feel a little terrible for writing the first non-​five star review! I choose Spilled Ink Press because of all the five star reviews and because it is a local business. We were initially very impressed with Amanda when she showed us her previous work and met with her.
However, I feel that she was not able to give the time and energy to our invites that we deserved for the money that we paid. She seemed to have overextended herself with larger (more important) projects and it felt clear that we weren’t a priority. We had to ask her several times to respond to our emails/​phone calls, which is just sad.
Everything was last minute and she always talked about «her big projects.» Umm… hello, everyone is busy with their jobs, customers dont’ want to hear about it all the time. Not surprisingly, when we picked up the invitations from her home, she wasn’t even there like she said she would be and her husband said she was really busy and couldn’t be there. That was quite disappointing cause we didnt’ even know him and we wanted to review the invitations with her.
I was overall fine with our invitation except for the many errors that were on them. To be fair, we looked over the proofs that she sent and we gave the «ok.» But when we pointed out the mistakes and asked what could be done, she was very annoyed and defensive. When we asked for a receipt for the invitations, she had a very snippy response.
I know I’m in the minority with my comments but I do not recommend Spilled Ink Press!

I could probably just say «ditto» to all the other reviews. Because Amanda is really as good as it gets for custom wedding invites and other goodies.
She met us to talk design and all we had was a vauge concept of our theme, which started as sort of a joke. She took it and ran with it and designed something that was my fiancé’s favorite part of the entire wedding process.
Of all of our wedding vendors, she was the tops. The most responsive, the most helpful. The most understanding about timelines/​deadlines and making small adjustments. The price is higher than you would have off of pre-​designed invites but it was worth it to have something that reflected us and our wedding so perfectly.
This is the easiest review I’ve written.

I have nothing but GREAT things to say about Spilled Ink Press. To echo many of the comments before mine, these guys are simply put –THE place to go for personalized, completely tailored invitation designs that are beautifully made and reflect who YOU are. My fiancé is Mexican and we’re getting married in Mexico, so we wanted that reflected in the invitations. I showed her a traditional Mexican floral embroidery design that I like a lot and said «Can you do this on an invitation?» And she did it! A beautiful, creative and colorful invitation was the result — I’ve gotten so many compliments on them and requests for Spilled Ink’s info from other recently engaged friends!
For someone on a budget who’s got something specific in mind to reflect your personality and taste — these guys are definitely worth checking out. Amanda was so professional and friendly — even when we changed our minds various times about creating a bilingual invitation — she was always flexible and accommodated our needs and requests. I will absolutely go to these guys for other paper needs such as wedding programs and place cards.

Amanda is a stationary goddess.
After looking at page upon page of wedding invitations on websites and not seeing anything I liked, I decided that I’d have to go to a stationer to for our wedding invitations. I realized after visiting a couple stationary stores in Chicago that we didn’t have the cash for that and I began to stress out. I am a teacher and font and formatting are something I geek out on– I always want my handouts and presentations to have a certain look– but I didn’t have the patience or time to make my own invitations. So I did a Unilocal search and found Spilled Ink.
Our first meeting with Amanda was great. She showed us some examples of the custom invitations she had done in the past and helped us to come up with a design that would bridge my more contemporary/​whimsical design sense with my husband’s very traditional ideas. We went through maybe 2 drafts before settling on a final design. Not only did we love our invitations (and yes, they are VERY reasonable for what you get) but almost every single guest made a point of calling or emailing us to compliment them. We decided to have Amanda do our wedding programs, escort cards and thank you notes as well. Everything tied together with the design from our invitations– it was beautiful.
I couldn’t imagine a better product at such a reasonable price. I LOVE every item that Amanda created for us. She is so creative and her work is beautiful. I HIGHLY recommend Spilled Ink!

Spilled Ink Press did an amazing job with all our wedding stationery! We wanted something functional since all of our guests would be traveling, and the tri-​fold invitation was perfect.
Amanda and Tony designed a beautiful invitation with some very personal touches, and our guests all commented on about how cool they were. Actually, a lot of people who RSVPed didn’t say «congratulations» or «can’t wait to see you» but just «nice invitation!» One comment from a family friend was «I love your modern invitations: practical, efficient, elegant, interesting, and informative». So that sums up exactly what we wanted!
On top of that, when my mother realized many days after the invitations had gone out that she wanted to invite more people, SIP promptly delivered us an emergency batch. Anytime we wanted some minor adjustments to the appearance, they made the changes– which you can’t get with some pre-​printed big company stationery. I was a lazy bride and contacted them pretty late about thank you notes, table tents and name cards, but they were ready quickly and they were GORGEOUS!
I can’t say enough good things about SIP! They were fun to work with and super cool, so don’t waste your money anywhere else!!!

We employed Spilled Ink Press to do our wedding invitations. We had a specific idea in mind and wanted a more modern and contemporary feel, and Spilled Ink Press did not disappoint! It was a ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ joint effort during the designing stages, and Amanda Eich really listens to your ideas and balances aesthetics with functionality. Our invitations were custom-​made and she truly brought our vision into reality. The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable ($ 4-​$ 9 per invitation), and the prices for upgrades (wax seals, ribbons) were also very reasonable ($ 0.50 per invitation). We are absolutely thrilled with our invitations, and I absolutely can’t wait to deliver them!

I absolutely love Amanda. I can’t say enough good things about her. Her original design for our invites is so lovely. I’m so pleased with the work she’s done, and how quickly it’s been done.
These invitations don’t have the feel of traditional ones, and that’s a good thing! They’re modern (though I’m sure Amanda could work up a more traditional invitation if you want one), fresh, and I don’t know how she does it, but they’re perfectly personalized. She’s worked with us closely on tricky wording, changes in design and format, and through it all, she’s been unfailingly pleasant and easy to work with.
I’m so glad we found Spilled Ink! I feel lucky that my invitations are so unique.

I met Amanda through my friend that had used her for her beautiful wedding invitations. Working with Amanda was the best decision I made though out this whole process! Amanda is a true artist that used my concept and ideas to give me the best end product I could have hoped for. She also made our programs, menus, and other various wedding accessories. Our wedding took place in Napa so she used the surroundings of the area to create something very unique on paper. Amanda of Spilled Ink Press initially contacted me after I attended a bridal show at Navy Pier last October, and I am so thrilled that she did! She is an absolute pleasure to work with, extremely professional yet easygoing — at our first meeting we chatted and drank coffee like old friends! One of my main criteria for choosing wedding vendors is simply if I like the person — you do have to work with them for several months, after all.
And the invitations are fantastic. I was looking to design a bilingual wedding invitation, with Greek and English text all on one card — no easy task, but Amanda came up with some great ideas and the final product is stunning. Her portfolio of invitations is amazing, and she can pretty much customize any invitation to fit your needs, as she did with mine. From the high quality of the paper used to the gorgeous fonts and design elements offered, Spilled Ink Press offers a fabulous product at a good value.
Invitations run from $ 4 — $ 9 each, which upon extensive research proved to be quite economical for a custom designed wedding invitation. No hidden costs: design and meetings and emails, etc. are included in the cost of the invites. BONUS: Included in the cost of the invitations is the printing of guest addresses on envelopes — an enormous time saver for the busy bride.
