Spa O

I have to say Spa O has disappointed me the past few times I have been there. I started going here a couple years ago and didn’t mind paying their higher prices, compared to other salons in the area, because a no-​chip manicure would last me 2-​weeks +. But over the past 6 months or so my no-​chip has been chipping within a week, if not sooner. I found another nail place that is quite a bit further but their no-​chip is guaranteed to last two weeks and it does. I wish this wasn’t the case because the customer service at Spa O is fantastic, I just can’t see paying $ 73 for a no-​chip mani and pedicure that’s going to chip in a week

I was going to get a manicure and pedicure at the neighbouring Nail City. But after getting an uncomfortable feel upon walking in, I decided on solely getting a manicure at Nail City and getting a pedicure at Spa-​O. Why? Because I’ve had too many experiences where people mess up my pedicures more so than manicures and I knew I could trust Spa-​O.
I’ve been here on several occasions and I love love love the staff. Every single member is so kind and attentive. I took off a star because on two occasions, my nails chipped. Anyway, I ranted to my nail technician about how awful an experience I had at Nail City, and he kindly listened to every word and gave me his sympathies.
The prices here are so reasonable, there’s a huge selection of colours, and it’s super clean. I’m so happy this place is across the street from where I live. Definitely one of my go to places.

Could not be happier with the quality work done by the nail artists at this salon. Not only was service quick and friendly, but the manicure with no-​chip technology came out beautifully. It only costs about $ 40 which is pretty standard, especially in the downtown area.

I work in the area, and our boss decided to take us out to get our nails done. We had an appointment, so the salon was expecting a bigger group. The receptionist greeted us, and got us where we needed in an efficient manner. I told the receptionist that I have acrylic nails with gel polish, but I just wanted a new color. She said it wouldn’t be an issue
The moment my manicurist saw my acrylic nails, it service immediately went downhill. She began rolling her eyes and glaring at me because she had to file off the gel polish. To make the service a little more enjoyable, I began trying to make small talk multiple times, each time being ignored. The overall product was just ok
My other coworkers reported being cut to the point where blood was drawn and they were rough on the massages (one I didn’t get).
I am in the service industry, so I understand there may be off days, But I am highly disappointed in the service we received today (especially for a place that has such high ratings).
My company will not be recommending this place to our clients, nor will we be returning. This place had everything going, but service and staff friendliness need improvements.

Just got a no chip mani and pedi here. I’ve been wanting to try this place. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the spa and the aesthetician did a very nice job. You get a back/​neck massage and he did a great job on my nails and gave a nice leg and hand massage as well. It is very clean, looks pretty but was a little pricey for the south loop. Most places I’ve gone are a little cheaper. They do offer an early bird special $ 40 mani/​pedi mon-​wed which I will be going back for! I really liked spa O and the staff was nice as well!

Probably the cleanest nail salon I have found! Would highly recommend! Added an extra long foot massage to my pedi and was fantastic. Prices are average (expected more based on the address). Overall relaxing experience. Didn’t have to listen to everyone else’s conversation while trying to relax. Hidden gem!

Great no chip mani! It was a little on the expensive side but the nail technician gave me a great chair massage! Definitely a plus! Plus no wait, I was in and out within 30 min.

This is a very nice and clean place for customers to relax and get pampered, and the service is excellent, too!
The receptionist was very welcoming. She immediately arranged our services as soon as my friend and I walked in. Our nail ladies were very professional. One of my pet peeves for nail salons is that they sometimes use cheap products on customers. Even though with the nail polish you can’t see the damage, it always shows after you remove the coloring. But here at Spa O I don’t have to worry about their products. Last time I was there, I recognized most of the products they used on me, and the standard mani-​pedi included a vitamin E capsule. My nail lady cut it open and the oil inside flew right onto my hands, then she gave me a short hand massage. That felt really good! I wish she could keep massaging my arms and hands.
The only reason why I didn’t give it a five star is because of the noise. It’s understandable that they’re very popular and it’s hard to keep the salon quiet with all the customers coming in and out.
Also, they have a sign on the wall that customers should tip their nail ladies in cash. I don’t usually carry a lot of cash on me, so every time I come here I have to make a trip to an ATM first. But if you don’t mind all these and looking for a good place with a reasonable price to get pampered, give this business a try!

Nice clean place for a manicure! I didn’t feel rushed during my mani pedi and I felt like the woman did a very thorough job. My regular manicure lasted about 4 – 5 days without any major chips which I consider good. My toes lasted close to two weeks. The selection of nail polishes is very wide, and the staff seems very experienced and detail oriented! I will definitely be back. Only downside is he high prices.

Updated to five stars! I called Spa O to schedule a polish change, as my white nail polish had chipped a bit. I was more than willing to pay for it, but they took care of it free of charge. Billy was extremely detail-​oriented in painting my nails, and he even performed some of the services that typically come with a full manicure. And they look wonderful – check out the new photo I added! They also apologized profusely for their small mistakes on my last manicure (they had seen my Unilocal review).

I went to Spa O for a mani/​pedi and they are already chipping without any activities that would wear my nails down. I will not go to Spa O again.

Very very pricey! This place was packed & they stayed busy long after their closing hour. I got a pedicure & it was done very well. I would say I would visit this place again, but again it is a little too pricey for my budget. Based on the service I received, I would recommend Spa O if you really want to pamper yourself for a day.

The atmosphere is calm and inviting and the staff are pleasant. I don’t often treat myself, but when I do this is the level of service I look for. The entire experience is designed to ensure the customer leaves relaxed and with great nails! The choice of nail color is astounding! This is my new favorite! Ladies and gents if you’re looking for a serene environment that is as clean as it is peaceful, look no further than Spa O! You’ll leave with soft hands and feet and memories of exceptional service!

I’m definitely a fan of this salon. I booked on a whim, loved it, and have been back twice more. It’s a small space, but it’s really clean, filled with tons of polishes (Essie, OPI, and one other brand) and has a friendly staff.
All three times I’ve been my nail tech has been super nice and did a great job complete with a quick back massage while my hands were wrapped in a warm towel. They also use vitamin e capsules for ultimate skin softness and soak your hands in warm lemon or tea water. For a $ 15 manicure, you can’t beat that!

Really enjoyed myself! Very clean and relaxing. The girls were really nice and listened to my requests and always made sure I was happy. Will most def come back. They made my nails very pretty. It so close to home and and easy to walk to.
Have many great colors and may try their paraffin treatment in the cold winter for my hands. I didn’t notice they had it until I was leaving. Also if u go in on Monday to Wednesday, 11−2pm, the mani-​pedi is $ 40. Would most def return and recommend it. Also if u use Unilocal coupon they honor it.

Pros-​No wait time, huge selection of color including no-​chip, very warm and inviting as far as the décor, and clean. Depending on what time you go, it can get crowded relatively quickly due to the limited space.
Cons-​little overpriced for services, very little space; I was with my boyfriend and both of us received a mani pedi and both taken at the same time which was good but the entire service lasted 35 minutes. There were no beverages (especially for it being downtown). My manicurist was very rough with my nails, I wasn’t able to soak my feet for no time, the entire time I felt rushed and the job in my opinion was ½ done. oh, must I say that my manicurist nails was dirty as well. COMPLETE TURN OFF. I did not want her to touch my hands. I go for mani/pedi’s very often and search around for deals and nice places to go. I do event planning so I am a «secret shopper» and I look for nice/​recommendable places for my clients. I give this place a 2 ½.
Will try Nail and City Spa next time.

The job well done deserves 4 stars, but the cost does not make me happy and I can’t say the service is soooooo amazing that it’s worth it at full price so it gets 3 stars.

— Temka did a great job. My manicure surprisingly lasted for quite some time, as did my pedicure.

— $ 40 mani/​pedi «special» M-​W before 2pm. I somehow made it happen in January ;-)
— They use your phone number to track their rewards program. You earn 10% for each dollar spent and once you spend $ 150, you would have racked up $ 15 that you can use towards services. For better or worse, since everything is so darn expensive it’s pretty easy to spend $ 150 after a few visits.
— Well, well, well… I just noticed on their website that they have official guarantees on service: «We guarantee 2 weeks for No-​Chip, 1 week for weekly polish. We free to fix chipped nail within guaranteed period.»
Cons:
— It’s too darn expensive — $ 45 mani/​pedi, $ 45 no-​chip mani
— Their promotions are not consistent. I came here the first time based on a Unilocal 10% off check in promo for your first visit. When it was time to pay, they said that promotion was over and I couldn’t use it. Sorry. Yeah, sorry for you guys. It’s clearly on my phone, which you see, so yes, I can and will use it. They proceeded to show me their computer system that said the promo was over months prior. Again, not my fault. They need to update the promotion on Unilocal.This was back in December and it’s still listed as a Unilocal check in offer today. So I would suggest that until they fix the listing don’t back down from getting the discount. That’s not our fault!

Got a mani/​pedi/​15 chair massage for $ 60.
Let me say mani/​pedi was average to good. I liked that they were fast. Lots of color selection. Great massage chairs.
The 15 min chair massage was GREAT! The girl had awesome pressure throughout and really worked on my knots.
Parking around here is a bit of a disaster… sometimes you can get lucky with a street spot.

This place is clean I will give them that much. The only thing that really annoyed me was the service. I went in for a No-​Chip manicure.
I walked in without an appointment as It was a last minute decision. Came in and there was one person getting a mani and one getting a pedi. I asked if they could take me or if I should come back since I live a few blocks away. The receptionist looked at me like I had asked her to give me a kidney. As she looked annoyingly if there were any spots left. She said okay we can fit you in. My fault for not making an appointment.
As for the manicure. He didn’t file before applying the acetone which I thought was odd. When he went to remove the polish he looked at me and said «wait this is OPI, why didnt you tell me» ummm im sorry I didn’t realize I had to.
I hate places that do not soak your hands before cutting the cuticle. Basically you are getting your cuticles cut with just some soap and all this acetone on your hands. The next thing he says is «who did your nails before. The cuticles are cut poorly and the shape is not good» Oh sorry about that yet again. I will make sure to tell the last tech what a horrible job they did buddy. The last straw for me was as my nails were drying I lifted my hand to cover my mouth while sneezing and he scolds me for moving saying If I mess it up he has to do it all over again so do not move. Whoa. Sorry but not coming back to feel like I did something wrong the entire time. BTW its day 7 and my no-​chip is already starting to «chip»
