Aurelio’s Pizza

Just went back cause I was having a pizza attack! I walked out feeling sauced (pizza sauce that is). This place is still my fav, I’m sure it will stay that way. Download the app and rack up some points to cash in for credit off your bill, has a funny video game attached, how can you go wrong? Seriously how can you go wrong?

We did delivery and it worked out great. Took about an hour– food came hot, salad came fresh. Pizza was good!

The pizza is decent, not enough sauce. The more important thing is that it’s too expensive for what you get. The price, quality and quantity is much better if you go a few blocks south to Flo & Santos or Giordanos.
On a brighter note, the outside patio here seems pretty cool.

Although not as good as the original, still a great option for pizza in the city. It’s not your traditional deep dish — they have stuffed and thin crust, and I highly recommend the thin. The chicken alfredo pizza from here is amazing, and their pepperoni comes in a close second.
The restaurant is spacious enough inside, there’s a couple different rooms to dine in, and a bar area. They also have a lunch special where you can get a drink and a personal pizza for $ 8.
Glad they added this place to the neighborhood, but if you ever make it out to the burbs, I still recommend the original location.

The sauce was a bit thin. Best part of the pie was the sausage. They are overpriced based on quality. The sauce is touted as awesome, but it’s only about a C+. Giordano’s is a block south and is a better pie and better value. Sorry Aurelio’s, this native born south sider lost that loving feeling.

Call me juvenile, but I can’t think of the name «Aurelio» without thinking of that term for a certain part of the human anatomy that has an orbiting quality and is usually more-​easily observed on the fairer sex. But juvenile turns out to be my key word for an Aurelio by any other name, in this case.
It took a long time for Aurelio’s to actually open this location, and I had pent-​up excitement to try their thin crust. I had read a few raves about their Homewood location, and there is a dearth of good thin crust pizza south of Pat’s in the South Loop, with the exception of Flo & Santo’s, which is delicious but more of a specialty pizza. Not that there’s anything wrong with Lou Malnati’s a few blocks north, which is a high bar for any pizza, whatever the thickness.
A mom and two kids were visiting, one of whom was about ten or eleven years old. Wow, it turns out that they make gluten-​free people younger and younger these days. I assumed that Flo and Santo’s would have a gluten-​free pie. Doesn’t everyone these days? No, they do not. We took the walk to try Aurelio’s. I struck gold for him here. He loved the plain, gluten-​free cheese pizza. The rest of us had the regular crust.
Perhaps I should have asked for «extra gluten» as an ingredient for ours, because the crust on the regular pizza was pretty listless, and the sauce had little to no pizazz either. Had I been reviewing as the ten– or eleven-​year-​old, I’d have given Aurelio’s five stars with flying tomato colors (shout out to my U of IL peeps). And for the people who grew up with Aurelio’s in the ‘burbs, I get it: I would probably reminisce around one of these pies once in a while as well. For myself, though, I’ll just continue to giggle a little about the name as I pass by on my way to Lou’s.

Could be good, but holy grease. The crust is good, but I felt sick after eating a slice. It seriously is really greasy and oily. Ordered sausage and it was so salty. I’ll have to stick with Lou’s.

Thin crust pepperoni is to die for! I asked them why this Aurelio’s reminded me of the Homewood location… They said they were the same owner and they even moved one of the ovens over! Not sure what’s up with the low ratings. Pizza was jammin’, service was great, location was perfect!

Picture it: a cold, drizzly night — the night before Thanksgiving in fact. The city’s a ghost town.
My trusty companion and I set out on a series of misadventures, ending up frozen and wet in front of a Potbelly sandwich shop that’s closed at 8 pm. We turn dejectedly to head home and what do we see? A beacon in the night! Aurelio’s pizza, open for business.
Once inside, drying off in a comfy booth, we agree — we are feeling adventurous no more. A plain cheese pizza and a couple of Pepsis it is. Holy buckets! This may have been the most delicious cheese pizza I’ve ever had. Extra cheese was absolutely not necessary. Aurelio’s has such delicious crust (that I’m pretty sure incorporates cheese) and sauce that you almost don’t need toppings at all. Quick, friendly service. Not too bright, not too dimly lit, not too warm, not too cool. I’m a fan and have returned since and hope to many more times.
Side note: I grew up with an Aurelio’s a mile from home and the sausage pizza is awesome too. If you’re a picky bitch like me and never order sausage because of too many unchewable, unidentifiable substances being an unfortunate part of sausage — this is one place you can order sausage pizza and not have to worry about that! It’s like magic!

One of the worst pizzas I have ever ate !!! I always get Aurelio’s in the suburbs and it taste amazing but for some reason the pizza here is garbage much better places to go to in chicago– pizza was cold — no sauce — jus a bad pizza all around

Waited over 2 hours for delivery and they gave us moldy bread… don’t wste your time here

Finally visiting my local Aurelio’s. It’s literally across the street. I did have a slice one time in the summer when they were selling them off the street. I wasn’t impressed when I had it. But having it today was a different story. We ordered a ‘fiesta’ size pizza aka XL. Half of
It was cheese, the other half was jalapeño. It was really good. My only complaint was it has too much cheese, but eating it hot made it easier to eat. Overall, we will definitely come back and try their other dishes.

This is my second negative pizza ordering experience in a week. I will never stray from Connie’s or Lou’s again.
We’ve had Aurelio’s before and it was fine. Today? All the food we actually got arrived cold. I live on Clark and Roosevelt, and this store is on Michigan and Roosevelt. That’s 6 blocks. And, they didn’t send my salad… since they deliver through Grubhub, the driver didn’t want to bring it to me, and no less than 3 people said they would just credit my bill for the salad. IT’S MY DINNER; I don’t want a credit, I want my food. The salad just came, and the woman who brought it was very nice and apologetic, but it came without any salad dressing. I mean this whole thing has just been a comedy of errors.
The salad thing is an anomaly (and they did ultimately comp it), but the food arriving cold is unacceptable. BOO

When you’ve had just about enough of Toppers this is the place to go! Pizza is amazing. For a side I would strongly recommend the fried ravioli.
Now if only someone would remind staff that Carry out salads do not belong in the warming oven. Nothing like steamy lettuce to go along with the delicious pizza.

I was hesitant to come given the mixed reviews but I actually thought the pizza was pretty good. Last Thursday was the last bears preseason game and football and pizza are an obvious fit so I got the number 17 (sausage and hot peppers) to go. I should note that the girl who took my order and who I picked up the pizza from could not have been nicer and that always makes the overall experience better. It’s not the best pizza in Chicago by any stretch of the imagination but it was good and I thought the space was cool.

Stopped by Aurelio’s for an early dinner yesterday, and had an okay experience. I really loved the upstairs outdoor seating and the service was good, but I was not blown away by this place. The pizza was decent, with a nice crust and a good amount of cheese, but it didn’t blow my mind. I will say the garlic bread was amazing though!
I ended up spending around $ 40 for garlic bread, a large 2-​topping pizza, and a lemonade, which I thought was a bit pricey. Also, I was given a paper bag and a piece of cardboard to take my leftover pizza home in, and the bag was definitely not grease-​proof– very inconvenient! I might come here again for the convenience of being close to work, but wouldn’t make a trip out of my way for it.

We decided to stop in at Aurelio’s after learning they hadn’t started delivery yet. They place is big with two dining rooms and two level patio. And there are TV’s everywhere. It’s impossible not to be looking at one. Service was decent but they appeared to be heavily overs staffed.
As for the pizza… meh. I was hoping for a «midwest» style thin crust, similar to Donato’s but it wasn’t. While it is better than Lou Malniti’s thin crust, I’ve had much better thin crust pizza. I liked the crispy edges but the pizza was pretty greasy. We also tried the tomato bread. On the website, it shows the tomato on a corner piece of bread with a little mozzarella on top. However, our bread was literally draped in mozzarella with a small slice of tomato completely covered by the mozzarella.
Once again, an opportunity to have a decent restaurant in the sloop is wasted. We keep getting mediocre burger & pizza places while better places are killing themselves to open in the West Loop. This space could have been put to better use

Proceed. Look, after being under construction since the great Chicago fire, Aurelio’s opened a few weeks ago. And today I checked it out. The place looks great. Lots of cool sports memorabilia on the walls. Sweet bar. Outdoor patio area if that’s your thing. Whatever. It’s the pizza that everyone cares about, and the pizza is excellent. Considering I live right above this joint, it’s almost too excellent. I’m not guaranteeing that Maury Povich will definitely be showing up with a forklift and a flatbed to haul me out of my apartment in a year, but if it does happen, I pre-​blame Aurelio’s. I probably have to move now because of a damn pizza parlor.
For now you’ll have to dine in or pick up (what I did) but it’s well worth it.

I tried this new place in my hood today. I was expecting a very average pizza because being so new, it looked so commercial, rather than mom and pop.
I was by myself, so I went with the 6 inch personal pizza. It was surprisingly delicious. Crispy, perfect crust, and sauce a bit sweet. I loved it!
My only complaint is that I added 2 toppings which cost an additional dollar per topping. The pizza was already 6 bucks to begin with, and adding a few teaspoons of topping on that little guy brought it to almost $ 9 before tip, and I was not stuffed. That’s about equal to a slice at many restaurants.
Service was good, place is clean. Im going with a bigger group next time so I can eat more.

Really good thin crust, but it was a bit salty for my taste. It also could have used more cheese. With that said, it was very good and I’ll probably go back. It is a bit pricey for pub style pizza, and they give you two pieces of wax paper and a bag if you want to take leftovers home…
All and all it is a good spot to watch sports, full bar, and a pretty solid menu that I look forward to exploring.
I hope the owner switches to to-​go boxes eventually though.
