Skybox on Sheffield

I surprised my fiancé, a Mets fan, with rooftop tickets to last night’s playoff game. We knew going into it that we wouldn’t be able to see much of the field due to the (stupid) Budweiser board, so that was a non-​issue for us.
We had a great time! There are plenty of TV’s, seating, and food and drink stations. Wait for the bathrooms was non-​existent. I will 100% come back for another game next season, the atmosphere and service are totally worth it.
Just one aside– I wish they had a better vegetarian option! Just throw us one veggie burger or veggie dog, perhaps? The vegetable skewers were good, but not filling, and if we are going to pay for all-​you-​can-​eat food we should have better options than just sides.

There is no view of the game unless you count the TV’s. However, the TV in our seating area went out half-​way through the game and never came back on. The staff was very hospitable. On their website they call their food «elevated». The food was ok, but I didn’t think it was at the level that it should be for the price you are paying to sit in a venue with no view of the field. Their website states that they have an «extensive selection of local beers». Extensive is relative, but the beer and wine selections, in my opinion, are limited. I don’t consider 5 or 6 options extensive. If there had been a view of the field, my review would probably have a completely different tone. The whole sign fiasco is not their fault, but as a consumer, I’m going to prefer a venue where I can see the field.

The customer service was always top notch at our previous outings… I just think they were just tired of having to explain to everyone why they would be looking at the back of a giant sign with no view of the field. I actually felt very bad for them. My complaint is that your facility does not adequately explain the full limitations of seeing any live action of the game… and your pricing has not been reduced equally to the reduction in view. Kind of feels like a bait ‘n switch.

WARNING– 2 of the photos shown for this business are misleading and should be removed because they are ‘false advertising’. They were taken before a massive billboard was put up blocking the field. Now, from anywhere on this rooftop you can only see a sliver of the outfield and NOTHING ELSE on the field AT ALL!
I still loved this place. The food was great, the staff was very friendly and plentiful, great beer and wine selections, and it was extremely clean. We had a wonderful time there because of the atmosphere but if you are going to actually see a Cubs game choose another option.

You can’t see anything anymore. I spent $ 125 for free beer and food. Free gross food/​terrible beer with no view. The view sucks and you cannot see the game at all! !! Please look at the pics from other reviews. There is a huge sign blocking the view of the park. NEVER AGAIN

Well we haven’t even been to the «game» yet and I can already tell you that I am BEYOND disappointed and feel scammed.
I found out AFTER I had purchased «tickets» for a «game» that I wouldn’t actually be able to see the «game» I was going to. The reason, a gigantic billboard smack dab in front of this establishment. I was told by Anamarie that they claim this on their website but in small print it reads «we don’t have views of the infield.» I wasn’t expecting to see the «infield» from a rooftop but I was expecting to see the stadium and outfield and just plain olé Wrigley stadium.
Basically I have paid close to $ 300 to sit on a roof looking at the street, trees and a billboard sign for 4 hours and drink beer and eat hot dogs. What an AWESOME experience that will be. I am infuriated at their lack of communication and their mis-​leading marketing and promotion. They should be ashamed of themselves.

I wish I would have seen the press on Marc Hamid, the former CEO of Skybox on Sheffield who was recently indicted on several counts of defrauding the Cubs and others out of hundreds of thousands of dollars because apparently that practice continues. My friends and I purchased tickets to Skybox on Sheffield in January, traveling from San Francisco. 48 hours prior we received a message that they were under construction and we were to be relocated to Down the Line Rooftop instead. This bait and switch is one of the more egregious scams I’ve experienced as we’d specifically traveled to Chicago to experience Wrigley in a SKYBOX with a dedicated seat. What we got was beyond an obstructed view, and nowhere to sit, let alone stand. Anamarie, our contact, offered us $ 25 off each for our trouble. I wouldn’t have paid or traveled to spend 10 minutes in that location. I definitely implore everyone to think twice before giving these people your business. Totally ruined our entire trip.

If you like looking at the back of a scoreboard, this is the place for you.
Clearly, Skybox knows their view is totally ruined. But rather than be upfront, they continue to sell tickets without notifying customers. The only way you can see anything from the game is inside the clubhouse on the TV.

This place has great food and drinks. It is also a very nice venue that I am sure was great before the Budweiser megatron went up. Just be forewarned, if you decide to go here you will not see the game at all. The megatron blocks the view from any level!

Absolutely don’t buy tickets here.
Imagine my disbelief when I packed a bus full of 56 paying guests, drove 2hrs, arrived to the «premium skybox on sheffield» and all we could see was back of the Budweiser megatron.
Although it is completely out of their control, it’s heartbreaking that they would even sell me $ 5,000+ of tickets and not even mention that this view had or could possibly be compromised which I wouldn’t know considering I live over 2hrs away and had bought my tickets over a month prior.
Apart from that, the indoor bar was gorgeous as was the rest of the building, which is a shame considering their current situation with no view. Food was mediocre at best, bar selection was good and the staff was outstanding. If they can still stay in business they need to not be charging folks $ 100+ without letting them know the current situation. A good half of our group ended up leaving and getting tickets, spending additional money to just be able to see.
Currently if you go on their website they have absolutely nothing stating that there is construction or that all the pictures of the view they have posted are not current. And they are still charging over $ 100 a ticket after fees.

I bought my groupon before I began my Unilocal obsession. I was a little concerned when I read the reviews but I’m not sure what these people were taking about. I had a great experience!!! We got there about an hour and twenty minutes before the game since the doors open an hour ahead of time. We went right to the top and got great seats. The view was excellent. I really liked the food too. I had the cheddar burger and thought it was delicious. They had really cool beers too. I had the cubbie blue and thought it was great. Overall I thought going to this game was way better then actually going to Wrigley and probably cheaper too!

Skybox on Sheffield is partnered with Goose Island BrewPub to bring you the best food and drink package for your rooftop experience. Having been to several other rooftop locations, I can tell you that their food quality surpasses all of it’s competitors. While other locations serve the typical burger, chicken, and hotdog cafeteria style, Skybox makes your food to order while you wait. SO FRESH! Their menu indicates vegetarian, gluten free, and healthy options too so that you can enjoy good food and maintain your diet. My group and I were all loving on their burgers, paninis, chicken burgers, and brats. Their best side are the pub chips — I say this because I don’t like warm pasta salad. No bueno. Aside from their outdoor grill, they also have pretzel bites and a taco bar located in their air conditioned space on the 3^rd floor. Everyone in our very large group commented on how good the food was!
Their beer selections includes all of your favorite Goose Island Brews — CUBBY BLUE INCLUDED! My personal favorite is their WHITE which is a wheat beer with a citrus flavor. So refreshing!
Viewing — They have 2 decks of stadium seats, pub tables, and an air conditioned area so that you will be comfortable from where ever you choose to sit. At other rooftops I have always run into a problem where fellow patrons fight over the «no seat saving rule.» For whatever reason, this has not been an issue when I come to Skybox. They have the same rule, but patrons are more respectful of each other.
Service — I worked with their team to organize a Bachelor/​ette party here and I could not be happier with my choice. They even help me make sure there was gluten free beer for my bride! With such a large group (16) we were able to eat, drink, and be merry without issue!

Alright so i now have 3 rooftop Cubs game experiences at 3 different rooftops. This one was free so i really can’t comment on the value. That being said, this is so far my favorite one.
Lets start with the staff, EVERY single one of them were polite and smiling. It almost blew my mind. The first staff member i dealt with once entering the establishment was a bartender on the top roof. I want to say her name was lindsey. I had not yet seen all the new goose island beers and she let me have a little tasting right then and there so i could figure it out. She was really nice about it and made it fun.
We had zero issue with finding a seat, though i assume we may have had we stayed on the second floor seating area. The food was really good. I have obviously had better brats and burgers but these were certainly not bad. pasta salad was generic but good. Homemade chips were awesome. Tacos were ok and the cheese pretzel bites were good. All in all, the food was pretty decent. Especially in comparison to the Ivy Leagues. The paninis looked really good.
I do, however, wish they had some summer shandy or something on tap too. Sometimes those goose island beers aren’t so great for summer drinking.

I’ve been to two cubs games here and have had an amazing time both times!
Food is excellent, beer selection is great and you can’t go wrong with unlimited everything. For me, this is like getting a suite at a bulls game. Sure you’re there for the game but its fun to enjoy the party more. I can’t imaging going to Wrigley anymore so I can spend $ 10 for a bud light and $ 8 for a hot dog and sit in a stinky bleacher.
On hot days you can chill inside or under cover. Bathrooms are great and I have never had to wait for anything. If you want a great seat for the game, get there early… its worth it.

Came here to see The Boss. We were let in way too early for how late Bruce started… not that I’m complaining — but let’s just say Goose Island Green Lines go down fast — so good. Not so good though when you need to be alert and screaming the lyrics of «Born to Run» at the top of your lungs. Seriously, by the time Bruce hit song number two I realized I would have far fewer memories of this epic show than I had previously thought.
BUT, I digress. Skybox itself is a great rooftop. Catered by Goose Island, you have your choice of good beers not just crappy Budweiser and Bud Light like many other rooftops. And the food is outstanding as far as rooftops go. There is a taco bar inside at the first bar, and then the first outside level has a grill where they’re cooking up some serious sandwiches — pulled pork, burgers, brats. Never had to wait for a beer on either levels, nor did I ever have to wait for the bathroom.
For concerts I wouldn’t say you get the best view. In fact, I would say you get no view. I had not realized that shows at Wrigley are set up in the outfield so we were basically waaaaaay stage left (stage right? I forget how that works), but behind it. So while we could hear it, seeing wasn’t happening. No matter, after my sixth Green Line, I couldn’t see sh*t anyway.
Fun place — definitely recommend it for a game!

I came here on a whim with a bunch of accountants. No, really. It was my first time on a rooftop for a Cubs game and it was A-​OK. The view was worth the price tag and it’s great for groups. Good food, good beer, and good seating. Ideal for a fair weather fan like me.

My fourth rooftop but first time here! I love that this place did not make me wear a stupid badge around my neck and we were allowed to go everywhere. (other places make you wear a badge and restrict your access to levels based on the group you are with.)
The first level had a bar with a taco bar. Best part about this rooftop is that Goose Island caters it. The food was really good and the beer was amazing except for the crappy Bud… yuck!!! Really Goose Island you should have more pull then that!!!
The first outdoor deck had a grill where they were cooking up the food fresh. This crew rocked it. The beef sandwich with cheese and giardinera was so good! I had two!!! The pulled pork sandwich was amazing too. Burger was good and Brat rocked!!! Grilled cheese and grilled turkey Ruben were just okay. The pasta salad was not great… needed more seasoning and the noodles were under cooked. Also the potato chips were really good. Didn’t have any until the 9^th inning but WOW!!! The desert her was really pathetic. It looked like brownies out of an easy bake oven (made by a four year old) and plastic cups with a liquid in them… one orange and the other brownish. I grabbed a brownish one for my buddy but he wouldn’t touch it. It looked really gross!!! I really didn’t care because I’m not a huge desert guy!!!
My only blemish would be that they ran out of the Summertime Goose Island Brew… umm it’s summer and it was the best one in tap. And this happened before the first pitch was thrown!!! Can a manager check the inventory? There are 30 days left in the baseball season!!! Unacceptable… everyone deserves at least a 20% off coupon for the next rooftop game. I now that is not going to happen but a Cubs fan can wish! (sorry Skybox on Sheffield you lose a star for that happening)
Staff was friendly and fast. The bartenders were able to handle the crowds quickly so waiting for a drink never took long. The guy taking the food orders was cool. When I snapped a picture of my sandwich he said, «Yelp!». How did he know? Maybe he follows my reviews? Also the bathrooms were really clean without a line. Which is hard to do when Cub fans have all you can drink beer!!!
I would definitely come back to enjoy a Cubs game here!!!

I am a sucker for all-​you-​can-​eat-​and-​drink packages, and I love baseball games, so when this offer came up on Groupon I couldn’t refuse! I had never been on one of the rooftops so I was pretty excited to get my first experience.
The view is from right field and it is pretty stellar. The only problem that we had was losing fly balls to the outfield in the sunlight. Even though we had a bit of trouble in the beginning, the rooftop has TVs everywhere so you don’t miss a second of the game. Once the sun went down, though, it was all good. On the night I went the sky to the North/​Northwest was full of colors and created a photo opportunity like no other. Another bonus was the great panoramic views of the condo buildings along the Lakeview lakefront. Seriously, someone could make some Chicago postcards out of these pics!
Aside from the views, the cost-​effectiveness of this option is absurd. The food and booze… AWESOME. And unlimited. The place was stocked with wraps of all different kinds, wings, burgers, hot dogs, Italian beef, desserts… you name it. I fell off the «eating healthy» wagon and completely housed two wraps, two sandwiches and pretty much everything I could get my hands on. I’m sure I pounded down at least 10 – 12 beers throughout the game at no additional cost aside from tips. The best part is that the food and beer and RIGHT THERE so you don’t have to move far to grab it or wait for one of the vendors.
The facilities themselves were clean and well-​maintained and the crowd was a fun-​loving bunch of Cubs fans. Even though the Cubs lost, my friends and I had a ton of fun and are looking forward to doing it again in a few weeks.
I highly recommend this place to catch a game with friends and have a good time. If you do get the chance to go here, I recommend my bartender friend, Lori. She’ll hook you up!
