Description

Specialties

Rooted, in the simplest of terms, is a safe and judgment-free space in which creative activities in various art forms (Visual Art, Acting/Improv, Voice, Movement, Expressive and Creative Writing) serve as the tools for participants to explore themselves and connect with others as part of their «Fitness for the Soul.»

At Rooted, we believe that the deepest purpose of life is to have genuine connection. However, this connection can only come when we allow ourselves to be seen. Rooted uses the arts to help people emerge from behind their masks and to be seen. We do so by creating a judgment-free environment that encourages people to shed concerns about skills or outcomes and instead focus on the process. While we do not claim Rooted classes as therapy, they can be highly therapeutic.

History

Established in 2014.

Rooted is a one-of-a-kind place dedicated to emotional wellness and expression through the Creative Arts. Here, we create the space for you to feel comfortable to explore yourself without all of the expectations and demands of the world and give you the tools to experience different art forms like visual art, music, movement, drama, and language (writing and storytelling), without worrying about the outcome. Our objective is for you to experience yourself being free and connect with others who are doing the same. Think of Rooted as a ‘gym’ for your emotions and the Creative Arts as the ‘weights.’

Shruti S.

Business Owner

Shruti is a soul searcher who takes risks to explore and follow her heart. She is also a self-professed perfectionist, artist, actor, and a CPA who has served as a financial executive and continues as a business process and strategy consultant.

She was born in India and spent her first decade running around the streets and being free with arts, yoga, and philosophy, but her move to the US at age 9 uprooted her and left her with a longing to fit in. This desire for a sense of belonging has pushed her to be a student of people which has led her to create Rooted where creative experiences in a judgment-free environment help people connect to themselves and others.
