Ouska-Griffin Florence DPM

I have never met Dr. Ouska but did speak with her manager Mr. Griffin who was very rude & unprofessional. I had left a voicemail for this office this past Saturday, April 10^th, 2016 & asked if they accepted Aetna Better Health. Since they did not respond, I had to call to ask again. The receptionist brushed me off & said, «Yeah this is about Aetna or something» then referred me to Mr. Griffin who said they don’t accept Medicare/​Medicaid insurance. I pointed out to him that this is discriminatory since it is the doctors who decide if they want to opt in. I asked to speak to the doctor when she had time. He flatly refused & said that since I am not a patient I could not speak to her under any circumstances. Really? I responded by saying that all patients whether they are new or existing should be treated with the same level of respect. Being the jerk that he was he hung up on me. I called again to ask to speak to the doctor because I had some questions. He refused. Then said that he could refer me to a Podiatrist who does accept Aetna Medicare/​Medicaid. I declined. Why would I accept a referral from him after the way he treated me?
I wanted to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ouska based on the reviews, but while I cannot comment on the doctor I can certainly comment on Mr. Griffin because any action he takes on behalf of the doctor impacts patients new or existing.

I had bad surgery performed by a dermatologist in Naperville under my right ankle (to remove a mole) and was hurting on a lump that formed from the scar for years after. I found Dr Ouska-​Griffin when I moved into the city. She made a thorough diagnosis, fitted me with orthotics that worked (I had ones made before by other podiatrists for flat feet, etc, but none worked better than ones sold at drug stores), explained to me why prednisone shots would not be a good idea (because the site was too close to some critical structure) and put me on a cream ordered from a compounding pharmacy. I was a bit skeptical that a cream could work to dissolve a stubborn lump, but was willing to give it a 3-​month try. A month into my tentative trial, the lump under my heel was gone and I was walking better than in the last 8 years.
Dr Ouska-​Griffin gave me back my freedom to walk and live normal without pain every step. I am most appreciative of her care and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for an excellent podiatrist.

Very patient and informative. I arrived at least 15 mins late for my appointment but dr ouska-​griffin tried her best to meet my needs and the next appointment.
I never felt rushed or a reduction in the quality of service.
Dr ouska-​griffin provided me a variety of options to address my chronic foot pain (jammed/​stiff toe and low arch). I never felt pushed for any specific course of treatment. No rush for surgery or cortisone shots.
I highly recommend dr ouska-​griffin for anyone that needs a good podiatrist. So convenient having access to her downtown.
I’m looking forward to my customized orthotics. I overheard dr ouska-​griffin making tailored adjustments for a patient’s orthotics and its was pleasant hearing her patiently work and make necessary adjustments to the patients needs.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this doctor!!! I came in to see her with ankle pain that kept coming and going over the course of nine months. After examining me and doing her own x-​rays (yes – she does her own X-​rays!), she told me I had tendinitis and I was wearing the entirely wrong athletic shoes. She saw me again two weeks later once I had gotten new athletic shoes and made custom orthotics for my feet (guess what– she does that too!)!!
She is highly skilled in her craft, kind, and a wonderful doctor. I’m a lifer here and would recommend anyone to her.

Amazing experience! I am in town doing a show and was having a great deal of pain with my ingrown toenails. I know… gross. :(She dealt with my problem quickly and professionally and had me dancing again the following day! She is incredibly kind and compassionate. She really, really cares about her patients. I would highly recommend her to anyone in any kind of foot pain. Fabulous doc!

I decided to call Dr. Ouska-​Griffin for an appointment because of the Unilocal reviews she received. Every single review I read gave her 5 stars. After my appointment, I agree. I called for an appointment because of excruciating heel pain and couldn’t walk. I was seen an hour later after her schedule was rearranged a bit. I sat in the waiting room for about one minute (while my insurance card and ID were being scanned) before being taken back into the exam room. Dr. Ouska-Griffin’s examination was very thorough. She is extremely knowledgeable about her field. She took the time to explain to me why I was experiencing the foot pain and a few ways on how to correct it. She was not pushy at all about me buying custom orthotics but I was fitted that day for them because I didn’t want to experience this type of pain again. I’m very happy I went to see Dr. Ouska-​Griffin. When you aren’t rushed, you know the doctor cares. She also gave me her cell number if I had any problems until my next appointment. I left with a walking boot on, but I felt so much better than I did walking in. I highly recommend her!

I went to Doctor Ouska for two different problems. Very friendly, knowledgeable and caring doctor and staff. She helped me with my issues and I would go back only to her if I ever need a podiatrist.

I’m very happy I went to see Dr. Ouska-​Griffin. I called for an appointment and her office assistant, who is also very nice, made a special effort to get me an appointment as soon as possible — that same day, in fact– because I was in pain. The appointment began promptly, Dr. Ouska-​Griffin was thorough and patient and my problem was quickly fixed– only a week later I’m back to normal. Dr. Ouska-​Griffin knows her stuff and cares about her patients– I highly recommend her.

I went here with big worries of surgery or something else very expensive after talking to another doctor about my foot. The other doctors first measure was to try and put me in orthotics, but being a running coach I knew that I had a very neutral stride and stance and a fairly normal arch.
After not being able to train because the pain in my foot was so bad. I decided to go to another doctor and see what they said. I read the reviews on Dr. Ouska-Griffin’s Unilocal and I figured I would give her a try.
After describing my problem and chatting about my life style she said «Well I am not going to lie orthotics are great and they make me a lot of money, but I don’t think you need them». Then she took a look at the foot that was giving me issues and found a deep callus shaved it off and said that will more than likely fix my issue. I was in disbelief that a callus could cause as much pain as I was feeling. Here I stand a month later running like I am 22 again!

On a whim I decided to consult Unilocal to find a podiatrist and I am so happy to have found Dr. Ouska-​Griffin. Luckily I was able to get in at short notice. After a few months of discomfort, the Dr was able to fix me up within a matter of a few minutes, I was off on my way feeling much better.
She was super pleasant and very helpful — if I ever have a problem again requiring a podiatrist, I’ll be certain to call her right away! Her downtown Chicago office is very easy — just in front of Macy’s…hint, you can use the Valet on either side of the street and park for up to 2 hours for USD 10 — a good deal in that area!

I felt very comfortable with Florence on the first meeting. She’s extremely personable and very knowledgeable. She thoroughly explaind why I was experiencinf foot pain and informed me of a condition I have that has been the cause of most of my pain. She went through all possible options available to me without being to pushy and I appreciate that. She will definitely be my go to for any future podiatry related problems.

Dr. Ouska-​Griffin helped my family feel comfortable about making a very difficult decision. My uncle was diagnosed with foot/​ankle osteomyelitis by Physicians at another Hospital and was battling the infection for months. Our family did not feel confident with the care from the other facility so we came to Dr. Ouska-​Griffin for a second EXPERT opinion. We had her evaluate our MRI scan and our records to determine if amputation was the most appropriate treatment at this time. She took the time to evaluate the whole picture, his lifestyle and went above and beyond having expert radiologists at Westlake hospital also review his case. We were comfortable and confident with our decision to amputate after she discussed the risk/​benefit options of a continued antibiotic regimen vs. amputation. We were so grateful for the treatment, extra attention and caring nature that we received when she reviewed our case. If it weren’t for Dr. Ouska-​Griffin I don’t know what we would have done. My uncle is now in rehabilitation and doing great. We recommend her to EVERYONE!

Hurt my foot running a marathon and for some reason want to keep running… so i made a appointment with Dr. Ouska-​Griffin and she was great.
Too often these days when you see the doc, they say a bunch of mumbo jumbo, and send you on your way. Dr. Ouska-​Griffin took her time to explain exactly what happened to me, multiple options on how it can be fixed, and how it can be prevented. I chose to go the conservative route and am hoping for the best. Highly recommend if you have a running injury!

It’s always nice to have small-​town very personal service in downtown. Had a great experience with Dr. Ouska-​Griffin… Didn’t need fancy water fountains and lounge-​like waiting area.
Did I mention that I’m able to run better now?

Dr. Ouska-​Griffin is very thorough, kind, and professional. She is always on time – I have never had to wait in the waiting room for more than 3 minutes. She explains everything to make sure that you understand it, and she doesn’t try to sell you services or products you don’t need. Her office is right downtown in the Loop, and she’s a great podiatrist. If you need one, check her out!

Before making an appt w/​Dr. Ouska-​Griffin, I saw another podiatrist in the Chicago area regarding the same issue. I am glad I made the switch. Dr. Ouska-Griffin’s treatment was more effective, her answers to my questions were more on point, and she took the time to thoroughly explain her diagnosis. Highly recommended.

Very easy and pleasant experience — she has a small office in the loop, very convenient. I called in at 11AM, got a 2:30 appointment, and waited in the waiting area for about 30 seconds before she saw me. Had to go in for an ingrown-​toenail which of course is no fun — -she explained everything, cleaned everything up, and sent me on the way.
5 days later — things are fine, no pain, no discomfort, nothing. She provided great follow-​up, gave me her cell phone number for any problems and was just overall, a very pleasant doctor to deal with (which many are not).
She didn’t rush me in & out and made sure she answered all my questions before leaving.
I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

My friend referred me to Dr. Ouska-​Griffin. She is wonderful. What a difference from going to the orthopedic surgeon (whose claim to fame is that he works with Bears, Blackhawks, etc.) I used to see. Dr. Ouska-​Griffin spends time with you, and is very knowledgeable about all sorts of issues, especially important for myself — as I was born with a severe club foot that required several surgeries as I was growing up, as well as a shorter leg and spinal curvature. I love that she didn’t bring an intern and spend the whole time talking to him (like my old orthopedic doc), and then hand me an article from a science journal which discusses total fusion of the ankle joints and tell me that this is what I have to look forward to. She’s not scary and she doesn’t try to shoot you up with cortisone shots. She listens to you and talks to you very thoroughly about options and realistic scenarios.
She made molds of my feet and got custom orthotics that are better than the ones I previously had gotten at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago through the orthopedic surgeon. I have been able to walk for miles with no pain! She can also treat any other kinds of issues with the feet, skin and nails. And she sells some pretty amazing supportive flip flops and summer sandals that I wore this summer to many Chicago street festivals and was able to stand and walk for hours with no pain. Dr. Ouska-Griffin’s assistant, Gloria, is fantastic and she always calls to remind you about your appointment. I don’t hesitate to highly recommend her — especially as someone who was born with a foot problem, and I’ve seen many podiatrists and orthopedic doctors over the years!
