Description

Specialties

Life is short, eat at Osaka Sushi first.

Enjoy great prices and great sushi at south loop.

In a world of fast food chains that serve nothing but processed foods full of mysterious ingredients and empty calories, Osaka Sushi Express at 400 S Michigan Ave is a breath of fresh air. Not only are all the ingredients fresh and delicious, but the prices are outrageously low, and the staff and chef are genuinely friendly.

Osaka is like a nice sushi place disguised as a fast food place. There’s no wait, It is a self-service restaurant. In other words, there is no tip necessary.

History

Established in 2005.

Osaka’s refreshing attributes is that it’s all family-owned and run. People from all over Barry’s family tree are involved, his mother, his aunt… his brothers even did the design for the menu and the restaurants’ comfortably chic interiors.

All in all, Osaka is a largely undiscovered gem on Michigan Ave. Go there for the high quality sushi, cheap prices and family environment. Or at least go there for Barry, a young entrepreneur who has respectable drive and commitment to providing people with tasty fresh food, expertly prepared.

Meet the Business Owner

Barry C.

Business Owner

Owner and Chief Sushi Chef Barry likes to encourage workers to think that «this sushi is for your grandchild, this sushi is for your wife, that’s how I think of it.» Every piece of sushi is a piece of art to Barry. In fact, he created many of the rolls himself. You won’t find them anywhere else. Barry decided to have a little bit of fun with it, and made the Monet Roll, which is dribbled in spicy sauce to create an artful «monet-like» effect. Barry also made a Beethoven Roll for Roosevelt University students studying music and the Michigan Roll with trails of sauce made to represent traffic on Michigan Avenue.

Barry’s right, it’s the quality and the care that makes this sushi extraordinary.

Seeing the quality at Osaka, it’s not surprising that Barry spent three years at the nationally-famous Benihana chain of restaurants. With a passion for sushi, and previous experience selling smoothies in Hong Kong, He opened Osaka in 2005.
