Open Books West Loop has over 50,000 new and used books in nearly every genre, and all sales in the store go to support our literacy programs throughout Chicago.

History

Established in 2006.

Founded in 2006, Open Books is Chicago’s premier literacy nonprofit for children. Through the support from sales in our West Loop and Pilsen stores, we provide incredible experiences to 5000 students a year, and donate 100,000 books every year to schools and nonprofits in need.

Meet the Manager

Noah C.

Manager

Noah grew up in a family of readers, and quickly developed his father’s unfortunate habit of purchasing and keeping many more books than he could possibly consume in a lifetime. Born in Toronto, he moved to Chicago in 2000, and has been here ever since. A fiction writer as well as book critic, Noah’s work has appeared in The A.V. Club, Paste Magazine, and TimeOut Chicago. He’s currently the Board President of the Chicago Writers Conference, a local non-profit that works to help writers on the path to publication. Noah received his MA and BA from the University of Chicago, focusing on Creative Writing and Philosophy.
