History
Established in 2012.
Captain Rick is a US Coast Guard 50 Ton Master Captain, and has been sailing his whole life. He has been sailing on Lake Michigan for the past 10 Years. Rick loves to sail, but his passion is racing. He has been racing offshore for 5 years in many different races, from the Chicago Race to Mackinac, the Hook Race, The Queens Cup, The Tri-State, Chicago to St. Joe, Chicago to Michigan City, and Chicago to Waukegan. In 2011 Rick competed and won his section in the Singlehanded Race to Mackinac.
This year, Rick acquired his new J/35 named Alpha Puppy. She is built for speed, and balances well on all points of sail. She responds quickly to the tiller but unlike other high performance boats, she is quite forgiving of mistakes that may be made by an inexperienced helmsman or crew. The J/35 is a great boat to learn on because when you change something, the boat responds instantly. She is also a comfortable cruiser.
