Had to search for a new hair stylist after my stylist closed up shop permanently and my hair had been in dire need of a cut for quite some time. I didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg at the other Chinatown salons and I remembered hearing good reviews from friends for this place, so I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon to check it out. The hair stylist was not only quick, but cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. It’s only $ 30 for a cut, but there was a line of walk-ins so I would definitely call ahead to make an appointment if you don’t want to wait. I will definitely be returning, I think I’ve found my new stylist!

This salon was excellent, I came in on the same day to get my super long hair curled before heading to a fancy baby shower. They were very accomodating and got me in right away. In under an hour my locks looked like Kim Kardashian’s waves(before she chopped off all of her hair and went blonde). I LOVED that they used Macadamia natural products and for a girl with SUPER thick German and Irish hair, my curls lasted ALL night. Loved this salon I will definitely be back. Thank you again!

I have been going to Wendy for a decade now. I went to her to have my hair done for my wedding last July and it was GORGEOUS and stayed in place all day and night-which was about 14 hours!(My husband is European and they party late.) :) A few months ago, my husband needed a haircut while we were in the neighborhood and I persuaded him to give Wendy a try(he thought she only did women’s haircuts). He LOVED it and refuses to go anywhere else now. Bottom line, Wendy’s a great stylist and a sweet lady– give her a try and see for yourself.

For Chinese weddings, it’s a whole day ordeal with tea ceremony, outdoor photo shoots, and reception. It doesn’t sound like a handful until you actually look into the details. We needed to be sure our hair and make-up would stay in place all throughout the day. The bride, bride’s mother, and I arrived at 7:30AM for hairdo and makeup. Nature usually starts the day at 10AM but Wendy, the owner, was willing to alter her schedule and accommodate. The bride’s package approximates to $ 140 whereas the bride’s mother and bridesmaids’ approximates to $ 125 per person. The prices can vary depending on your preferences but that is the general range. The three of us are very lazy females and left Wendy to free-style everything from the hair to the make-up. The bride’s mother went first and was out the door in 45 minutes. The bride was next in line and with the complexity and detail involved, it took nearly 1.5 hours to finish. The bride couldn’t quite adjust to the first pair of eye-lashes applied but Wendy was very patient about it and immediately helped her put on a more subtle pair. The whole-do took a little longer than anticipated and added a slight delay to our schedule. So while I waited, Wendy had her assistant curl my hair. By the time, the bride was done, Wendy then clipped and hair-sprayed my curls into a bun with a twirled tail lopped to one side. It doesn’t sound right but it came out looking right!(I will post a picture once the photographer finishes the edits.) I have to point out how Wendy did a great job with my bangs. I liked how she used bobby pins to secure the bangs before applying a mass load of hairspray. It prevented my bangs from splitting and dividing into three sets of bangs. As for make-up, I had the full course from foundation to plucking my eyebrows to fake eye-lashes. The eye-lashes stayed in place even though we were out in the heat for some four hours. That day was approximately 85 degrees but we were also by the beach and baking in the sun for a good while. I liked the purple eye-shadow that Wendy used as well as the lip gloss, but what I liked most was the slight highlight along the nose to make the bridge appear taller. We returned for touch-ups after the outdoor photo shoots. Wendy was really quick with it even though she slightly changed the eye-shadow and highlights. The bride and I were in and out the door within 15 minutes!
