Even though I have lived near Mullen’s(and Talbot’s before that) most of my life, I have never eaten or been in there. That changed last night when some friends from work took me there for a going away party. I wasn’t impressed with the décor or how it was laid out but the food was very good! There were a bunch of us sharing food at our tables so I got to try several things and they were all good! I especially liked the wings! The buffalo wings were the best and the jerk wings were really good too. When I tried to order a micro-brew, the server told me that ¾ of the beers on the menu weren’t available, but I ended up drinking 312 from Goose Island all night and that was good enough. There isn’t much parking in this area but it looks like most people park in the lot across the street and walk over.

So wanted to like this place and did somewhat. Great variety on the menu and food was tasty. Service very bad. Our food came in drib and drabs the server didn’t get my husbands order right so it had to be redone. The server apologized but then disappeared. We were her only table and it took forever to get the check and even longer to take our payment. I had to walk up to the bar to give her our payment.

This joint rocks! Pool, ample dart boards, jukebox, decent bar food… solid scene for a Bear game. There are televisions EVERYwhere so it’s a great place to catch any game at any time. I definitely want to come here opening weekend of the NCAA tournament. Really fun time!

Ey… this is a gem nestled in a veritable food wasteland, save for the Bakers Sq up the street. I come here to hustle pool and slam root beers until my diabetes kicks in. Its a nice little place to shoot some FREE! pool or throw some FREE! darts at your lunch break. The server /bartender is always super nice. I recommend: Goat cheese w toast: great for a bar, always a slam dunk Buffalo Chicken wrap: grilled so its good for you, on a spinach tortilla w slaw & fries Western Ave burger: get this if you only plan on eating this today, its enormous and filling. IBC Rootbeer out of a bottle; Do not get a fountain drink or water, it tastes like straight up bar cleaner. I would normally knock a star down for that, but the free pool and really polite service and about 400TV’s more than make up for it.

Still love Mullens I’m a now and again regular! But every time I come in its like I never left !!! Keep it up !!! As Rene would play on the jukebox I love this bar. Probably cause I got friends in low places but it’s alright cause hey now I’m a All star and I got my game on! Later Unilocal I’m going to go play. So follow me to Mullens everything is alright! Come on down to Rodgers park and check it out !! Then hit the mark 2!

Been coming here for years, and the place delivers good pub grub, nice cocktails, a standard selection of taps, and a local Rogers Park crowd.(Read: down-to-earth folks, not the bros and hoes you’ll likely see in its namesake sister bar around wrigley.) They have some amazing specials during the week, but take my advice: the $ 2 burgers are not that great. If they were the regular burgers, yes, but they looked to be barely ¼ lb. and by the time you figure the pretzel bun and toppings, the meat kind of gets lost. Other than that, this is a solid neighborhood place and a welcome respite from the storefront mosques and vacant commercial spaces on this part of Western Ave.

Not a bad joint. Good typical bar food, and good specials – $ 2 burgers on Mondays. Good place to go with friends, if you go alone you should be able to strike up a conversation with the friendly customers and staff. Internet jukebox, pool table and lots of dart boards. Clean and decent place.

I love Mullens! Needless to say, it really is just a little sports bar, but the patrons and the staff do have character. Spent New Years there this week. There was a great DJ playing pop music and 90’s hits. He was friendly and took all our requests. The crowd was diverse and I experienced a spontaneous Soul Train. A good spot for laid back drinks on a week night.

Great local dive bar. If you want to go to a bar that isnt that crowded has good food and cheap drinks this is the place. Theres alotta locals in here who have been coming for years. The free pool table and darts is a plus as well. The bartenders are all great especially Terry, shell take good care of you! Only negatives is the location kinda sucks, and the décor inside is kinda dull, not much music inside, and can be pretty empty on «busy nights» Although if u go with a group of friends for a chill night out youll deffinetly not regret it!

I went in on a Sunday afternoon to watch some football, have dinner, and do some coursework. FOOD: I ordered a medium-rare mushroom and swiss burger. This was the first time in a long time that I’ve eaten where red meat has come out cooked to perfection. Kudos. The pickle slices were fat and crispy, and the burger came on a pretzel bun, which was a first for me. I was quite pleased with the taste combination. The fries were thin and unseasoned. I don’t think they were salted, either, so that was a plus. As it was the only meal of the day, I basically pigged out and cleaned my plate. AMBIANCE: Definitely a noisy place that is not conducive to concentrated reading, but not so noisy that I couldn’t get some literature gathered online(I brought my own portable wi-fi. I’m not sure if they have free wi-fi there. I saw their network name with no lock next to it, so maybe?). There is a pool table and several dart boards. Behind the bar is a string of televisions, as well as a projector in the main area. It seems like a popular place for Chicago PD to come into for a bite to eat. This very much has the welcoming feel of a potential regular spot. LOCATION: Getting there from the Loyola area on North Sheridan was a bit of a hassle for somebody who is unfamiliar with the area. Had I felt like walking, I would have been there(and back) much faster than by public transit. Google Maps had me taking the 290 Pace bus(which is not included with the Loyola CTA Semester Pass), and the CTA49B only goes from the Western and Howard bus stop(Across from Walgreen’s) down to the Brown Line at Western. OVERALL: I really enjoyed the place. If I don’t find a sports bar that is easier to get to, I may make Mullen’s a regular spot.

Mullen’s has been a regular spot for myself and my coworkers. After long hours of dealing with kids, you’d need a snack & an adult beverage too. Ahh, the joys of social services. This place definitely hits the spot. Anyway, the bar has pretty typical pub food but they have pretty good specials throughout the week. Some favorites have been beer buckets and 35 cent wings on Wednesdays. I’m a fan of the BBQ, teriyaki, and cheesy garlic sauces for the wings. Parking is plentiful in this area and you can park in the Blockbuster lot across the street if you leave a Mullen’s menu on your dash. I’ll be back!

This is my neighborhood go to spot. With a lack of great bars in the are, particularly dive bars, you pretty much have a few choices within walking distance of my place. Mullen’s has the essentials, decent bar food, decent food and drink specials, pool table, darts and plenty of TVs with multiple games. It took several years for this Mullen’s location to finally get their act together on the TV situation. For so many years there were no HD signals for the flat screens. It was pretty ridiculous that to watch any game, especially football or hockey you had to deal with crappy pictures. Well, finally someone wised up and got a few new TVs and HD signals. Now, I can come here every weekend for the Bears game. As far as the food goes, it’s hit or miss. What you are guaranteed to get are some of the best wings in the city, hands down. I’ve been a avid fan of Buffalo Joes but they have fallen off and gotten more expensive. Mullen’s wings are cooked to perfection, big and meaty and with a variety of sauces(cheesy garlic are the best, or you can get jerk, teryaki, hot, mild, BBQ, etc) so this is your best bet, $ 0.35 wings on Wednesday, half price apps on Monday(including wings), $ 2 burgers or brats & $ 1 hot dogs on Sundays, along with other specials. Outside of the wings, the burgers are mediocre but fine on special and other sandwiches are edible to tasty. The best sandwich which I often get is the Sante Fe with grilled chicken, peppers, onions, & jack cheese. Other apps are standard bar food so nothing spectacular. The chips and salsa is pretty good and a fair bet at $ 4. The only issue I really have with the menu is the price of the basket of fries or tots. For some reason Mullen’s thinks it’s reasonable to charge $ 6 for a basket of tots. Now, it’s a big basket but it’s pricey for a bar like this. Just create a small and a large to give people options. Same with the fries. As far as beer goes, it’s not the best selection. Typical for a dive bar type place but Mullen’s goes for the sports bar atmosphere mixed in with the local crowd. Mullen’s could really use a craft beer or two, just a Half Acre or Metropolitan to keep it local. However, the best beer you’re going to get is a Sam Adams or Newcastle. Luckily, I’m not a beer snob and I can drink High Life all day. Service is fairly good and attentive, even on game days. Everyone is pretty pleasant and you can strike up a convo with most people who work there. Make sure to have an extra $ 1 to rent some darts or put your name on the board to play pool.

They have darts and a pool table! AND, an old arcade-style gaming machine! Amazing! But the most amazing part of my evening here was Tony’s pot roast sandwich. Our server recommended it and I agreed, it was good! The bad parts of the night I went? Aside from the awful karaōke singing, the place had very few tables, and our server didn’t check up on us as often as we’d like her to— I was out of water by the time she came around, and when she said she was going to bring us more water, she completely forgot about it for about 20 minutes! I’d come here just for the sandwich. The not-so-great service is to expected of a sports bar, so I’m not too bothered by it. Plus, I like watching other people play darts and pool. I could, however, do without the karaōke. Credit cards accepted only for $ 10 or more, by the way.
