Yup, I’m still coming here. Let’s keep it real –it’s a «dying brand» in the Chicago area(which is really a shame actually) but no one can beat their delicious pies. I still pick up pies here for special occasions /holidays. Also, I really like the overall vibe and food. They have gotten rid of some pretty good staples on the menu over the years… but, overall, I really like this place for a solid, affordable breakfast. It is such a great location too, which has plenty of parking if you want to meet up with friends here waaaaay up north.

Food is ok kinda soso but the pies are still fantastic. Besides the pie the safest thing to eat is the breakfast.

In all honesty, the food here is kind of hit and miss. But where this place really shines is in the dessert category. There’s a huge selection of pies to choose from and they’re always consistatly delicious. Overall, decent place considering there’s not much else in the area.

Hi, I came here with my Family which we always come and order the exact thing. Today«Isabella» took care of us and was absolutely amazing from beginning to finish. I can honestly say it’s almost like she anticipated our needs before we asked. Right when were about to leave Isabella brought my Nefew a lemonade and the glass split right down the middle and spilled all over the table(which was definitely a rare accident). The Manager came out and did everything in his power to make it right. Out of all of the times I have been here this was our first incident and it was refreshing to see their recovery service is just as good as the day to day service Thank you for being EXCEPTIONAL…

We have a habit of coming here for an inexpensive meal breakfast or dinner. Wednesday is a popular choice because of the free slice of pie with purchase. it’s quiet enough to enjoy your meal and warm and friendly service where you can bring the whole family and a staff of friends to sit and enjoy simple great tasting meals.

We went here today ½/16 for lunch, asked for a table for 6 adults and 2 children. The older lady that was the hostess proceeded to put a couple tables together while other employees sat and just watched. While she was doing so I asked if we could sit somewhere else instead of the first table as you walk in as there was a cold draft coming in when the doors opened. Her response was«really?» With somewhat of a upset tone. I understand her frustration as no one helped her and I didn’t notice out seat placement until she was almost done arranging tables(she later was very nice). She instead sat us in the corner at a bigger round table that we were able to fit everyone. Now this table I noticed the ceiling tile above us had a corner missing, at this point I wasn’t going to say anything. Out waitress seemed to be having a tough day we watched as she was cleaning a nearby table she dropped a plate and a soup splattered up all over her. So she was off not bringing everyone’s drinks or straws upon request. Shortly after we ordered the missing ceiling tile starts to drip water right on our table! So they move us to another area. We left all our drinks and silverware expecting to receive new ones. That didn’t exactly work out the way we thought. We did get new silverware but our drinks didn’t come until most of us were halfway through our meals. Now I’m not one that is looking for a discount or and freebies but I did expect something as a compensation for the ceiling dripping water all over our table! Nothing, not even a manager came over to apologize. Safe to say we won’t be revisiting this location ever again.

Wow my girlfriend and i just walked in coming from a movie and we couldnt stay. The floors were disgusting, the place had a smell of a restroom, you could see the kitchen area and the floor was covered with food and scraps. The booth we sat at was sticky and had old food on it that i brushed to the floor. As soon as i picked up the menu and it was quite sticky we decided to leave imediatly but not before we told our server that this place was disgusting and they should clean it up. She was seemingly indifferent. I think this is my first or second Unilocal but i had to say something. Gross gross gross.

The only thing i come to this store for is pecan pie at thanksgiving and Christmas. Best pecan pie i have found in Chicago. This location is organized and efficient i was in and out with my reserved prepaid pie in roughly 4 minutes. Do yourself a favor reserve your pie at least 4days ahead and pay for it online and you will be on your way with pie extremely fast. I know nothing of the restaurant side of this location but they are fast and efficient for pie sales

Just left here. Stopped to pick up some pies for a coworkers birthday. Woman behind the counter was so rude, I am speechless. Took our order after about 5 minutes. Then she disappeared, walked around a bit, put some pies in the oven. Looked at us, and went to the register. Told me my total, walked away to put one of my pies in a box. Came back over to me and had a difficult time counting out my change. Gave me my change without a word. Put my other pie in a box, bagged my order and handed it to me without a thank you, a receipt, or even a smile. The place was empty for lunch hour… gee I wonder why?

We are back in town after moving away seven years ago. One of the places we had to visit was Baker Square. The peach pie did not disappoint. The crust was flaky and the filling delicious.

Pie geniuses. And to be honest, the rest of the food served here is really good, too. My wife and I come here often and we’ve only had very good food, wonderful pie, and excellent service.

3.5 Food, from breakfast to burgers is always good, as are their pies. Wednesday has for some time been Pie Rush Wednesday, which means a free slice with your meal. Can’t go wrong there, right? Though as it seems nothing good lasts forever, this too may pass. They do a smart thing seldom seen in recent years: Order their very good diner coffee and you get a little thermal carafe on your table that holds about four cups, which they will refill. Service staff, from waitresses to management have always been friendly and really pleasant people. A manager usually drops by to ask about your experience. They have this laughable electric fireplace hanging on one wall where they’ve created a little cozy nook. Its phony flames always bring forth a smile. ~Peter O. Note to Bakers Square management: You and I and every one else knows your men’s room is in smelly disrepair. Fix that please. If the women’s restroom is in similar condition, fix that too.

This place can be hit and miss. The pies are great and they have a lot of dishes that can be made vegetarian if you need it. They are always changing staff so you never really know who is who since we are regulars I always request the same wait staff. If you are there for breakfast request Patty or Maria. They are really nice, fast, on top of your order, very helpful patient and kind. In the evenings my absolute favorite person is Donna, she is smart, helpful funny and fast. We also really love Chris but I do not think he is there anymore. There are 3 managers who’s names I cannot remember but one is older and african american, the other is hispanic, and the last is also older but maybe Filipino?.. anyway, they are always very nice and helpful. They always make sure to stop by our table and say hi and ask how everything is. The only cashier we really like is Deena. She is always awesome, everyone else is rude, inattentive, slow and couldn’t careless.

I’ve always thought of this place as part of a mid-priced chain — and mostly a place for pie. We’re recently visited Bakers Square a couple of Wednesdays, taking advantage of free pie w/your meal day. While the pies are good, the food is both VERY good and inexpensive. I’m not talking about good«for the price» — though that’s true — but actually comparable or better than at many high price restaurants. I had a salad this week with greens, fresh strawberries, blue cheese, dried cranberries and(I think) pecans. The presentation was not elegant, but the salad itself put to shame on that I had recently at a fancy Chicago club. That’s also been true for what we’ve had of their meals, flatbreads, and appetizers. And this week when they deducted the price of the pies from our bill — wow, we haven’t eaten out for so little for years. The service was comparable — ensured by the Asst. Manger, a very personable fellow named Max, who stopped by to make sure we were satisfied. I don’t give many top ratings, but this place deserves one.

Coffee and pie. Oh my! It’s a chain but it ~is~ reliable. I like: The grownup grilled cheese which has cheddar, mozzarella, and American with tomato and bacon on parmesan crusted bread. I omit the tomato and this grilled cheese is delicious. The parm crusted on the bread really takes it to another level and is a stroke of brilliance. I have yet to make this one at home. Seasoned French fries These are crucial. The secret is they are crispy and have seasoned salt. I have made these with success. Turkey melt with hand carved turkey breast, mozzarella, tomato, hickory bacon, avocado on wheat. Tasty, decent quality of turkey slices. My parents like the pita wraps and the sour cream raisin pie. The chocolate peanut butter cup pie hits the spot if you have a craving. The peanut butter layer is very creamy. There is a caramel pecan layered pie that is decadent. It has a layer of caramel pecan pie mix, then a cream cheese pie layer, then a layer of French silk chocolate, and it topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings and caramel drizzle. So decadent and yummy — 3 pies in 1 slice. Then there’s my personal favorite pie; the triple berry. Now order it warmed and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and the triple berry sauce. And since I mentioned coffee, it’s dam good and hot!

When one thinks of romance, usually maybe a vacation to the beach in the south of France comes to mind– not eating Key Lime Pie at a bakers square in West Rogers Park. is this the best place ever? no but if you like meals that hit the spot and you are in the area this will do. The coffee is phenominal. Back in the day before I could go out drinking with friends, we came to this place and caused all sorts of mayhem and crazyness. The staff never kicked us out. I guess they understood we needed an outlet. I came here a month ago with two friends and it was like going back to high school but without the metal detectors they have today. At this time I should note they since 1996 any time I have been here I never have waited more than 20 minutes for anything that I ordered. There were not as many homeless people and vagrants walking around… I guess they figured out that they can go to the«homeless starbucks» on Howard and Western to hang out. I think if you put a juke box in here, it would perfectly fit in with the vibe they got goin’ on in here. yes it is a drop down from eating at Gibsons but sometimes you have to forgo living well and just make it simple now and then and just appreciate the simplicity of a nice meal in a awesome people watching environment.

4 stars just for pie to go. This place is my Go-To for pie when I need it. French silk, banana cream, coconut cream, apple, etc. are always on hand and consistently good to always hit that pie craving spot. Go on Wednesday. That’ when they knock off $ 2 right off the top and when the cute friendly sugar mama is there to take you order!
