I can not say enough wonderful things about Michael Glavlin. My husband and I met with Michael after not being able to escape a «funk» that we had been struggling with. I have never felt so comfortable opening up to a person that I had just met. Michael helped us communicate in a way that we didn’t know existed. We began to really look forward to our weekly meetings, and always felt so much closer together after them. We have learned how to take what we have learned at our sessions to our everyday life, and have found such a peace in our marriage. My husband and I have grown and learned so much after working with Michael. I truly cant thank him enough. I definitely recommend Michael to any couple looking to grow closer together, or communicate better.

This is the first review I have ever given on Unilocal.But I really wanted to find a way to thank Michael Glavin for the important work that he accomplished with me and my husband. I also, want other couples to find this review and go to Michael if they are trying to decide where to go for couples counseling. I found him on website for EFT (emotionally focused therapy). My husband and I were in a place were we could not seem to break bad communications patterns. We both very much wanted to love each other well but felt blocked. After our counseling with Michael we feel equipped to listen, hear and relate with each other (even in conflict). Marriage is still work but we now feel feel refreshed and excited about journeying together. We would love to have him a resource throughout our marriage.

Michael was a perfect and helpful «reset» for us. His gentle demeanor, great sense of humor, and active listening contributed to a really great series of sessions that quickly illuminated some core issues. Rather than lingering in them for some time, we worked to figure out better ways to deal with them. He gave us an approach that paid immediate and lasting dividends.
Despite the difficult issues being discussed, he was disarming and helped establish a vibe where we actually felt comfortable enough to even see our issues with a measure of humor. Really great progress faster than we thought.
Strongly recommend him. Having been through a few therapists over the years, I’m a much more informed consumer. Michael really has the goods: smart, empathetic, but effective and efficient.

After more than fifty therapy sessions with my wife and Michael I can say that I am truly a happier person than I could have ever imagined I would be before I came to see him for the first time. I now look at my life a lot differently after talking with him so many times. I am sad he moved away, but I am happy for him, and I am so glad I put in many hours of hard work with Michael.
One of the things that sticks with me from our sessions is his gentle prodding to get me to understand and describe how I physically feel when talking about upsetting or uplifting emotional feelings. Where do I feel it? How does it feel. The words «bad» or «good» just weren’t descriptive enough, and he encouraged me to more fully process my feelings. I really enjoyed this new take on therapy and it worked well for me in understanding my own feelings and telling others how I feel. This approach greatly improved my ability to communicate with people that are important to me. The tools I gained while working with him are priceless.
It wasn’t always easy, but I learned the most during the hard times. He was forever willing to give me and my wife another chance to connect emotionally and encouraged us to slow down and be open for each other. He is a talented therapist, and I have a feeling he helped a lot of other couples connect and communicate better than they ever had before.

It must be said: if you are looking for a couples therapist, look no further. Michael Glavin is a true gem, someone I would feel safe recommending to any couple I know who is looking for support in their relationship. He is able to help high conflict couples de-​escalate and find peace with one another, and emotionally detached couples find their spark again. Michael is incredibly patient, attuned and emotionally available. He immediately puts one at ease, making therapy a positive, enjoyable experience, even when one is talking about very difficult subjects. I highly recommend Michael!

This is the first review I’ve ever given on Unilocal but I had to take the time because Michael really helped me begin to change my life. I saw him for individual therapy. I would describe my process with Michael as outstanding, extraordinary. And being able to say that about something I contributed to is testament in and of itself that I’ve come a long way. Michael’s approach allowed me to go deeper than I had ever gone in therapy and I had worked with many other therapists over the past 16 years. He was gentle, validating, and compassionate. He was also incredibly good at keeping me on track with attuning to myself, slowing down, and going from the repetitive stories to the emotion I hold with me. I learned to really feel those emotions in ways that I was previously not allowing and I hadn’t even realized how constricted I had been. It was amazing to me how impacting this was and I continue to see the ways this is changing my life — being able to recognize my own needs, showing care and love to myself. I recommend Michael without hesitation and I challenge anyone who works with him to take risks and dare to look deeply inward because Michael has the capacity to hold you and guide you through it.

I started seeing Michael over two years ago for couples counseling after a previous counselor went on maternity leave. He made me feel very comfortable from the first meeting. My relationship ended, but I continued to come back and work with Michael one on one because I realized how much he was helping me get through personal issues that were holding me back in my relationships.
He has been a huge help to me in many ways. He does an amazing job of asking just the right questions and made me feel comfortable even when discussing issues that I could never have opened up about in the past. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and I am very sad to see him go.

I absolutely recommend Michael as a couples therapist. He is highly skillful, both a compassionate listener and extremely intelligent – but perhaps the best thing about him is how comfortable my partner and I are with him. Michael does a great job fostering the therapeutic relationship, making it seem easy to talk about things that are otherwise hard. He communicates in a gentle way, but does not hesitate to be firm when necessary, maintaining compassion and understanding throughout.

I started seeing Michael Glavin as a referral. I wanted to work with a man after working with an amazing person in the same field.
From the first time we met, I felt very comfortable with Michael. Being newer to his profession, I was a little hesitant but my fears were unfounded and I would recommend him to anyone who really needs to slow down, and someone who is ready to get into some deeper work. Michael Glavin is a true resource.
It’s unfortunate that he is moving, and I wish him all the best. Anyone who’s looking for a very centered, caring person, would be very comfortable with his skill set. I can’t imagine how much more effective he will be as be develops his practice.
