History

Established in 2002.

Well it all started when Mrs Romano retired with her Italian Ice Shop on Armitage. As Kids We used to go on hot summer days to have an Italian Ice. IT was the only thing to do just suck on an ice and hang out in front and chat.

I really missed this place.

By trade am a Real Estate Investor. So when I bought my building at 2057 ROSCOE I had a little store that would be perfect for a ICE SHOP and so the idea was born. But we also did Gelato & Ice Cream. This was perfect for me a seasonal business because i had the Real Estate business and it also left my winters open to travel and spend my time

in the Caribbean.

Then it got to where i could have rented the store for more than I made. My Boy’s Mario & Gino were older and I thought this would be a good opportunity for them that is when i decided to serve food.

This place holds a very dear spot in my heart i have created a place that kid’s & adults can come and mingle and enjoy. Theirs nothing better

than Kid’s an Ice Cream

Meet the Business Owner

Gary R.

Business Owner

I moved to Roscoe village in 1950. I went to Jahn school and lived in the neighborhood all my life. we grew up playing hockey, baseball and football all at the park-Hamlin Park. Then we learned to play pool right on Roscoe at Johnson’s pool hall just a few doors from Kitchen.

I loved my old neighborhood, then we got gentrified, that was all good but most of us couldn’t afford to live there anymore. That was good to because we still see each other all the time and the Village is still a bunch of Ma & Pa Shops just like the old days. Well Just like my dad used to say, boy in my day you could get a cup of coffee and a piece of apple pie for a nickle and it was no sliver of a piece like ya get today. Just saying, we come a long way here in Roscoe Village and it sure is a great feeling to be a part of it. Not only that but my boy’s Mario & Gino got to spend there summers on Barry & Damen with there Grandma so they have a little Roscoe Village in there DNA. Ahhhh yes i love my neighborhood
