From knowledge and practices gathered from the Upper West Side of Manhattan, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Lincoln Park of Chicago, Luminere masters the ability to make each client’s session custom-​tailored to their needs and to provide them with the necessary essentials for achieving relaxation and balance. Very unprofessional!!!
Tracey is the most manipulative unprofessional person I have ever met. Her facials are ok, but definitely not worth the hassle of dealing with her personality. She pushes you into buying more facial packages, even when you tell her you don’t want to she makes it really hard and awkward to say no. I felt very intimidated by her that I ended up getting 2 more facial packages after my first facial. During my last facial with her (3rd one out of 4) she was telling me how I needed to get another package, but I finally told her no because I was low on funds and might be moving out of state. Right when I told her that she started questioning me aggressively about why I didn’t want to continue the services, so I repeated to her that I might be relocating. At that point we were barely beginning my extractions, she didn’t like my answer so she completely stopped doing my facial! She then proceeded to just touch my face very gently as to make it appear that she was still giving me facial… The same happened when she continued with the microdermabrasion, I could barely feel it and she did it for tops 1 minute. Then to take up the remaining time of the facial she just put some random thing on my face (that she had never done on my previous 8 facials), so I laid there for like 10 minute doing nothing. When it was finally over she asked how I was feeling, so I responded with honesty and told her my face felt pretty much the same… She then replied with attitude «well since you’re not going to continue with your facials» and started to walk away until I stopped her to remind her I still had one left. She denied it and said that I had already had all 4. So she told me to prove that I had only gotten 3 by emailing her my bank statement with the date of when I last payed. I did exactly that plus I stated the dates of the 3 facials I had gotten since then, and guess what… Surprise surprise Tracey has been ignoring my emails. She is a fraud and very unprofessional. Avoid yourself the misfortune of meeting her.

I love love love this place. Tracy is truly one of the most beautiful people inside and out. She is wonderful! The express facial and brow shaping is awesome and very reasonably priced. My skin and brows have never looked better. I have also had a couple of reiki sessions that have been great. If you want a fantastic experience with someone who truly cares for her clients, this is the place for you!

I have never been to this establishment because I was never able to make an appointment. My father had given me a gift certificate for a facial and massage. The website to book online appointments is pointless. It just says «this service is not available.» I gave Tracey a call but had to leave a message for a call back. No response. I even emailed her for an appointment. No response. Maybe if I didn’t mention that I had a gift certificate, I would have gotten an appointment. After multiple attempts, I gave up and ripped up my certificate. As much as I wanted to receive a free pampering and gift from my dad, I don’t want to be in the same room as this Tracey. Unprofessional and incompetent of being a business owner.

I have owed Tracey a review of Luminere for a a couple of years now, but have avoided it as I didn’t know where to start… but today, I am writing a review!
Let me start with Tracey. Tracey, the owner of Luminere Esthetics & Wellness is one of the finest people I have ever met. Tracey is smart — if you stalk her on the internet you’ll find that she has a ton of degrees and teaches too. Tracey is kind — kind to animals, kind to people, kind in general. Tracey even started her own charity that connects consumer to spa services that act as fundraisers for deserving organizations. Tracey is beautiful — inside and out… you can’t argue with that.
Now lets talk about the services! I most often get a mini facial with a brow wax. Not only is this an amazingly price spa service, but the monthly maintenance on my skin has helped keep my cystic acne at bay. I’ve had a few peels and microderm (my favorite) services as well. I also did a body scrub before my wedding — I glowed! Each service is completely professional in a clean, comfortable environment.
I have also been luckily enough to attend classes on aroma therapy that Tracey hosts quarterly. I have learned how to make cleaning products and mood stabilizers from essential oils that really work!
Overall, you can’t go wrong with Luminere. It is truly the best spa in Chicago!

If I could, I’d give this 0 stars.
In my original review I described my experience. I hope it was clear that I was not trying to do more than just detail my experience. Even though Tracey felt it necessary to attack me personally, I let it go.
Fast forward to now. I had the appointment in 2012. In 2015 I started receiving emails from Tracey, offering to pay me to remove my review. I ignored her emails for some time, but she continued emailing me and each time increased the amount she was willing to pay for me to remove or change my review. I paid $ 35 for the appointment and yet she eventually offered me $ 400 to remove/​change my review. Think about that when you look at a business that has only glowing reviews.

I have been going to Tracy for a few years. As someone on a budget she worked with me on creating a perfect affordable plan to help me keep up the maintenance on skincare and waxing needs! She has always been so great with working with my schedule and trying to fit me in her very busy schedule. My recommendation is to def. try and snag her months in advance so to make sure you can get your apt. with her! Thanks for everything Tracy!

I’ve gone to Tracey for over five years now. I get compliments all the time on my eyebrows and skin. Her prices are amazing and the facial that comes with the brow waxing has definitely helped to clear up my skin and improve my complexion. Highly recommended!

I started going to Tracey years ago when she was on Diversey, because it was around the corner and a friend recommended her. In the beginning I’d go for the $ 20 20 minute mini-​facial/​brow wax. I was paying more than $ 20 for the brow wax alone at Trim. The buy one, get one deals she has at the holidays is a total steal, so I started doing the hour long facials and trying other treatments as well. Since then, we’ve added in lashes just for fun. Visiting Luminere is my monthly treat to myself! She does a great job, so she’s very in demand, but with scheduling my next appointment when I leave a visit – it’s never an issue getting in. My skin looks so much better since going to Luminere — thanks, Tracey!

Cannot say enough good things about Tracey! She has completely transformed my skin and eyebrows in the 1.5 years I’ve been seeing here and I will continue seeing her for as long as I live in Chicago. I do the 20 minute facial with complimentary brow wax for $ 20! You absolutely cannot beat that. It is a very no frills treatment but I wasn’t looking for frills. I was looking for beautiful skin and help growing out my eyebrows and I found it with Tracey!! l I have also had my eye lashes tinted and LOVED the result. The tint lasted about 3 weeks which was beyond what I expected. I don’t wear make up regularly (sensitive skin) and the tinting helped make me look a little more put together. I highly recommend trying it at least once! Tracey does beautiful eyelash extensions also. And she rescues animals! Like I said, I cannot say enough good things about her.

I had been dying my eyebrows and lashes for quite sometime before I found Lumiere and now I use Tracey exclusively; she is the best! She uses a vegetable based tint that does not in anyway irritate the eyes and the color is superb! It lasts like nothing else I’ve ever used. I used to dye my eyebrows myself to save some money but the color doesn’t last or take nearly as well as having a pro like Tracey do the work for you. I hate to be disloyal to a couple of other estheticians that I adore, but when it comes to eyelash or eyebrow tinting Lumiere is the one!

I’ve been seeing Tracey for over a year now for at least once a month and my skin has never looked better. I’ve been doing her 20 minute sessions which has drastically reduced those recurring «problem» blemishes I used to get. She’s quick and thorough and will definitely continue to see her as long as I’m living in the Chicagoland area.

I first went to Luminere when my husband gave me a gift card as a De-​Stressor after my exams. I took the body polish with rain shower from Tracey and oh my gosh it was phenomenal. Tracey is such a sweetheart she would always be so polite to talk to you while the service and make you feel so good about yourself at the end of the service. The body polish was so refreshing I totally loved it. She totally knows what she is doing and is best at it.
Tracey is always accommodating in terms pf cancellations and re-​scheduling of appointments due to genuine reasons. What else does one need?
The services at Luminere are a must try and I would definitely be 100% sure to recommend it to everyone :)

I lived in Chicago last year for graduate school at Northwestern & while living there my face broke out worse than it ever had before. Multiple blemishes all over my face. So I started researching places for treatment around the Chicago area, and landed on Luminere.
I was incredibly pleased with Tracey’s treatment. She evaluated my skin and determined the best treatment plan for me. Facials every other week with microdermabrasion once a month. The condition of my skin significantly improved over time.
My only complaint is that I would describe Tracey’s demeanor as very aloof. Not that I was there to make a friend, my skin was my main priority, but I would never describe her as being warm by any means. After seeing her multiple times a month for months I would expect some sort of familiarity, but that was definitely not the case.
The last time I saw Tracey before moving, I had my first cold sore ever and did not know anything about cold sores. It was in the healing phase and when she saw it, once the treatment started, she flipped out on me and cut my appt short. She kept berating me to the point where I almost broke out in tears. I was already self conscious of this thing on my lip that I had never experienced before and she acted almost disgusted with me. She said she would call me to schedule my next appt and I never heard from her again.
If you are looking solely for great results but not a warm, welcoming experience then I highly recommend Tracey, she definitely knows what she’s doing but has no interest in being your friend.
4 stars are based solely on my results, because that was my main priority, but if I was rating the experience and interaction while being there, I would probably give 2 – 3 stars.

I’ve been a client of Tracey’s for almost five years so this review is a bit belated.
Regarding her services, Tracey has kept my skin and eyebrows in tip-​top shape, has managed to work out some of the worst knots in my back via her Stress Alchemy treatment and has tended to my occasional waxing needs, all at an incredibly affordable price. We also do an annual Reiki session, which is just plain fun and worth a shot if you haven’t experienced Reiki before.
More than anything, though, Tracey runs Luminere like it’s her home, and when you walk in you feel like you’re visiting with a friend. She is an incredibly passionate business owner dedicated to her clients’ needs and it’s been amazing watching her business evolve over the years. Most recently, she began hosting workshops, including a personal favorite of mine, Aromatherapy classes. She’s gone from esthetician and business owner to a «connector,» bringing women (and men!) from all over the city together to enjoy things like yoga, aromatherapy and other wellness-​related topics.
So, she gets five stars for her amazing services and just for being her!

HARD to BELIEVE!
my review was disappeared less than 2 days after posted (12⁄14). I am wondering there is a way for the business owner has an access to manipulate reviews.
I am glad that some people had good experiences but I did not.
I am reposting that below…
Hard to make an appointment. No return calls though i left 3 messages.
It seems Tracy does everything by herself: booking, reception and services.
I bought a package which was relatively cheap after I received the service first time with using a gift certificate. It was a big mistake.
Then I made an appointment but had to cancel due to sick. Though i left a cancellation message, she charged me full amount (not even deducting one service from a package rather charged full amount using my credit card information that I gave her buying a package). It was unauthorized charge using my Credit card without my knowledge.
I left her three phone messages but I never received a return call.
So I sent her a text message but did not receive a response.
So I had no choice except going to the shop. When I walked in I think she recognized me. She told me she will be right back as she enter to Inside. Never came back to the waiting area as I waited about 25 minutes. So I have to leave. I can donate money if she needs money for foods but I’m not going to lose my money in this way.
I demand her return my money back.
I never had this horrible experience from anyone at anywhere.

Tracey offers great promotions around the holidays for her microdermabrasion facials, so I’ve been a loyal customer for almost 3 years now! She’s very punctual and easily accessible via public transportation (Belmont stop). Her late hours work well with my busy schedule too. She does have an online scheduling tool, although I have never personally used it.

I started coming to Luminere because of the excellent reviews and 5 stars on Unilocal.I was a bit skeptical at first since I’ve been to businesses that had great reviews but turned out to be a horrible experience.
I was NOT disappointed at Luminere! Tracy is very professional, the place is nice and clean and my skin feels great after each treatment. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!
