History

Established in 1974.

The Lou Conte Dance Studio (LCDS) is the original component of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC) from which the now world-renowned company grew. HSDC’s deeply rooted commitment to training dancers began 36 years ago when founder Lou Conte was approached to teach tap classes by several aspiring young artists. The studio now offers classes in a wide variety of styles from ballet to modern to hip hop for beginners to professionals, reflecting the diverse aesthetic of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. All classes are offered at the Hubbard Street Dance Center — the same venue where HSDC’s internally acclaimed dancers rehearse and train each day.

(NEW for the 2009-10 Season: Youth Dance Classes for ages 9 months to 13 years.)
