First time for cut and lowlights, Love it!!! Camilla did an amazing job, matched the color I wanted perfectly. I will definitely be back!

I’ve been a client for almost 9 years. Typically I see Elena and she works some magic. Lately I’m wearing a bob with an ombré and people stop to ask me for my stylist. The only reason I don’t want to advertise too much is because I won’t be able to get appointments anymore. They all work very hard and the owners Elena and Kamal are like brother and sister. The salon is professional, clean and for all of us with busy lives I have never waited for my scheduled appointment. And sometimes as an added bonus Kamal will shampoo me and man oh man what a treat! I have referred several friends who have also become regulars. For the quality of service and styles the prices are very fair and buying my products at the salon is less expensive than purchasing in a store. I cannot say enough great things about the Salon. Thanks to them I feel great about my hair.

Just in there today as a first time customer I had an appointment at 5:30. Receptionist was very nice and I was seated right away with Elena. She asked what I wanted and Wow!!! My color and highlights were awesome. She did go a little lighter with my hair color but it was great. I left 15 years younger. Glad she went a little lighter. My cut was awesome too.

Just have to say, I love this place. I live down the street and have gone here about 3 times in the last year and a half. I got my hair cut twice by Jamie, who is super nice and friendly. I hadn’t been to the salon in about 6 months (yikes), but she remembered me. I recently got engaged and was telling her about how the wedding planning was stressful and how my parents were going to meet my future in-​laws the following day. I was really nervous about it and mentioned this to Jamie. Not only did she do a great job of cutting my hair, she also curled it so I don’t have to worry about it for the parental meeting situation. Now my hair looks awesome and I feel more relaxed than when I walked in. Just goes to show how a simple nice thing can really make someone’s day.

First time client and they now have a loyal one. Fabulous service and I could not be happier! Thank you! Camilla was phenomenal! Definitely my go to spot now.

Went here a few months ago, walk in. It’s a simple but clean salon and inexpensive. I got a really well done cut and style but ended up with split ends not long after. Coulda been that not enough was trimmed, or coulda been dull shears. Not sure which but I’ll give them another shot.

Kamel had be cutting my hair for 5 years, but since moving to the burbs, I miss that Turkish guy. Price for a cut is comparable to those chain stores but you know you are going to get a solid hair cut.
Now I have to start a relationship with a new stylist out here. This is going to be a tough road a head.

Camelia is amazing for haircuts! She knows exactly what you want and is super nice! Love it that she talks just enough to not make it awkward but at the same time even the silence with her is not awkward at all!
I love it when hairstylists are like that, not trying to sell you too much but respectfully giving you what you want!

I never go get my hair done, but decided I wanted a change and read great reviews. I also read that they did a great job on Asian hair, so thought I would give them a try (I specifically asked for an appointment with someone with a lot of experience with Asian hair).
I asked for a gradual ombré that started about eye level, but came out with highlights that were much lighter than I wanted the lightest part of my ombré to be. I’m still kind of confused what happened…
The stylist curled my hair and I kept telling myself it looked okay, but it’s not. The top layers of my hair are brown and bottom layers are blond. The various streaks are different sizes and start at various levels of the roots. Everyone was very nice there, but I seriously don’t know what to do. I hate my hair so much, especially since it is everything I did not want.

Jamie! Jamie! Jamie! All day long! She really took the time to listen to what I wanted, looked at the pics I showed her, & gave me her opinion when I asked. I ended up with fun, natural highlights & a great cut. I will be back for an update for the fall!

I’ve had sone very negative experiences at other salons in Chicago, but I’ve been going to KE for years now. I love Elena! She’s never given me a bad cut or color. Even when I’m not sure what I want, she’s patient and helps me figure it out.

I just had the worst haircut of my life. I should have run away screaming once I learned my stylist Jamie had only been cutting hair for 7 months. Let’s just say… it showed. To be fair, I didn’t come in with a clear sense of how I wanted my hair to look – just that it needed some freshening up. I left with hair about 5 inches shorter than I wanted and what can only be described as a soccer-​mom-​bob-​gone-​wrong. I am not pleased and I won’t be back.

Jamie has been my regular… I don’t really know what to call her, stylist feels wrong, since I’m a man, but barber feels wrong too. Hair-​cutter. She’s been my hair-​cutter for about six months, since my old shop closed down.
She is, in a word, fantastic. I like my hair a little longer than most barbers are comfortable doing, and I’m very particular about finding a good hair-​cutter. My hair is finicky, and unless it’s cut just right, it won’t look decent as soon as two days later. Jamie is like a wizard, it’s always perfect, and she’s fun to talk to to boot.
Great service for men who like a little more effort to go into their hair.
Be forewarned though; this place is cash only. Not to worry, there’s an ATM nearby if you forgot, like I usually do.

My sister and I have been looking for a new hair stylist ever since our old favorite had moved to Buffalo last year. I was able to nab Saturday appointments for us even though I had called on a Tuesday. With a lot of salons, you have to book a few weeks in advance to land a weekend spot since it’s the busiest time. It was definitely a bonus that they were able to squeeze us in on such short notice.
I got a basic women’s haircut: cut off a couple of inches and added layers. My stick straight Asian hair has always been a black pool of silk that couldn’t really do anything but go into a ponytail. The lady who cut my hair (her name escaped me, sorry) was able to give my hair some texture and movement for the first time EVER. The price came out to $ 35, which is pretty reasonable given the area.
Slight downside: it’s cash only and finding an ATM in the immediate area is a bit of a stretch. We didn’t realize they didn’t accept credit card and had to drive 5 – 10 mins to a Walgreens. I would recommend reminding the customer it’s cash only when they make the appointment over the phone.

My hair was pretty bad and boring! I came in trying to revive my processed, discolored, thick, long hair with a bad hair cut. I told her & showed her pics explaining exactly what I wanted my hair to look like.

I felt bad because my hair is so thick and long, it took her hours but she was super nice and patient about it. I walked out of there with a hair transformation and we regretted not taking a before and after pic. I will definitely be back to see her and get touch ups.

I love Camilla! She deals with me totally not taking care of my hair (fried, grown out, you name it) and fixes it and I love it. Will always come back here.

ELENA! she is simply amazing! After being referred to KE by a friend (as a matter of fact she has her review on here as well, hi Greene!) I have never been so pleased with a stylist in my life! I have really thick hair and lots of it too and she always gets my haircuts right! I have been to many many MANY salons in Chicago trying to find the perfect stylist for my difficult hair and I always end up coming back to her because she just gets my hair every time as well as my mom and sister! It is cash only and I usually always make an appointment one week in advance cause she’s pretty booked. My only one little peeve is that she does sometimes keeps us waiting for a while when we actually have an appointment. But overall Elena and her team are great! They really do make you feel and look so good! And the pricing is very affordable best 35 bucks spent ever. Love this salon!

This place is AMAZING!
I have been going to get my haircut by KE Salon for over a year and I will not go anywhere else to cut my hair. Every time I go there, they are packed with people who love to get their haircut by the stylists there, men, women and children. They accept walk ins but calling ahead and scheduling an appointment is the best way to get in and out and continue with your daily routine.
You gotta try this place out, you will not be disappointed!

Another five star review for KE Salon. I have had a series of terrible haircuts from other salons for the past few years (because I’m a poor post-​grad who can’t usually afford a $ 35 haircuts), but today I decided I needed to get my shit together (and my hair fixed) and go back to KE Salon. I had an appointment with Violeta who was extremely nice and accommodating. She was also very honest with me about what was wrong, for lack of a better term, with my hair. She let me hem and haw for around 10 minutes about what I wanted done with my hair and then she gave me her professional opinion and then got to work.
Needless to say it was amazing. She fixed my hair as best as could be and I’m very happy with the results. Definitely won’t be going to students and/​or friends for future hair cuts. Sticking with KE.

It doesn’t matter how far I am or wherever I move– KE Salon’s wonderful Elena is the only one who seem to have the magic touch. I came to her almost 3 years ago to chop off my locks by blind faith of a Unilocal review and never went anywhere else. I came to her in hope that she would be willing to cut my hair that reached my waist to a «VOB». My oh my! She’s a genius! ive never gotten so many compliments in my life. Since then it’s been a struggle to grow it out– not because my hair grows slow, as a matter of fact it grows like ragweed (a gift!). It’s more of the fact that I’m always itching to chop my locks short. The struggle is real.
Fast forward to today, I have had my hair to my shoulder blades. I couldn’t stare at myself any longer with my hair into a messy pouf that somehow resembled a scraggly birds nest. It’s quite a pain to maintain and grow hair long. So many products and takes a very long time.
I’ve had enough and knew who to call. Elena was able to take me in despite of the short notice. She even took me in despite the fact that it was past her last client for the day. Oh dear I adore her! Before you know it, I was back and sitting in her station chatting away like long lost friends. Elena transformed my mop from drab to fab. I’m inlove! Elena– no one is ever allowed to touch my hair except for you even if I have to fly 2000 miles.
KE salon– only place where you can get a $ 35 dollar haircut and walkout feeling a looking like a million bucks! No really. This salon in Lincoln Square is a diamond in the rough.
