I have no idea why the one person rating Dr. Dyer with one-​star thinks she’s only out to make money. That is a blatant lie.
Dr.Dyer is probably the nicest, most considerate and caring doctor I’ve ever met! She has wonderful bedside manner, but let’s face it… I couldn’t care either way how a doctor behaves as long as they are good at what they do and communicate it well to the patient.
That being said, I was having issues with another doctor at Northwestern and was finally at a point where I needed a new doctor so I hopped on Unilocal,found Dr. Dyer and booked an appointment. I was definitely nervous to book with her as she isn’t affiliated with any hospital. I needn’t worry. I called and left a voicemail and she promptly returned my phone call within an hour. I told her my issues and she was shocked that I had been trying to get a colonoscopy/​endoscopy since February as it was now November. She listened to my symptoms and was sympathetic and understanding while acknowledging that no person should ever have to live with my condition.
I had both procedures scheduled within two days of our initial discussion. I was quite nervous but the staff at St. Anthony’s Hospital was phenomenal. They were all extremely kind, talked through everything with me and were very attentive to my needs. Dr. Dyer was quick and efficient to diagnose me and prescribe me with the relevant medications. After just 6 days on medication, my life has been changed drastically. I no longer dread eating. I can enjoy whatever I want if I so choose. This is the best gift a doctor could ever give me.
I’d give her 10 stars if I could!

Its a shame you can’t give more than 5 stars, Dr Dyer deserves at least 10! I have been struggling with some ongoing GI issues for close to 9 years now, and have visited countless GIs over the years. Dr. Dyer is above and beyond the best GI I have ever had (and the only one who has actually been able to offer me answers and solutions that make sense and that work!) Her calming and patient presence makes you feel comfortable while explaining some rather uncomfortable symptoms, and she really listens to you and genuinely wants to help you feel better.
I must disagree with the below reviewer who says Dr Dyer seems to be only out to make money, I find the opposite to be true. Rather than having me come in and pay my co-​pay every time I need to adjust meds, or ask her some questions, she has me email or call her and she is quick to respond and offer help.
If you live in Chicago, or anywhere close to it, and you need a GI, Dr. Dyer is who you should be seeing

I met with Dr. Dyer about 3 months ago regarding a stomach condition I’ve had for some time.
My 1^st impression was less than favorable as her one room practice appeared… neglected.
After about a 15 minute wait, Dr. Dyer led me into her back office, and asked me to briefly describe my condition, only to be cut short by a series of questions regarding payment.
She then quickly marched me back to the front room where I met with (what Im assuming to be her son) and discussed insurance /​payments at length.
After a lengthy insurance verification process, Dr. Dyer recommended we meet at the local hospital for a much larger procedure.
Feeling a bit rushed, a bit confused and mostly un-​diagnosed, I told her I would contact her in the future after making the appointment.
Fast forward 3 months, and I find a $ 200 bill in the mail for what she would later describe as my «consultation» fee.
In the end, I decided it would be easier to pay the fee (which I have), but am left with the unfortunate impression that Dr. Dyer is simply out to make money, rather than help her patients.

I did call Dr. Dyer before posting this review and calmly explained my position and feelings on the experience… perhaps in hopes of coming to a mutually beneficial agreement.
In a not unexpected response, she made no efforts toward resolution.

Can I give more stars?
I’m in a bit of a PTSD state over my health and having to see yet another doctor was about to send me over the edge but Dr. Dyer was so helpful, kind and gentile with me that I was able to handle it all with ease. She is clearly knowledgable, thorough and understanding.
It’s also remarkable to find a doctor who is so quick to respond and personally reachable. I’m so grateful for being able to make an appointment so quickly and to be treated as if I was important and a priority in her schedule.

If i could give 10 stars, i would! Dr. Dyer has been fantastic. I called for appt on a tuesday, got an appt for weds and was scheduled for endoscopy on saturday. Everything was speedy and went great! Dr. Dyer listens to everything you say and is very thorough and caring. She has personally called me back several times when I have had questions about meds and i feel sooooo much better. In urgent need of a good gastroenterologist in my area, I found Dr. Dyer via my insurer’s website. I left a sobbing vmail early the same morning, and she was kind enough to personally speak with me and even get me in for a same day visit. I could tell on the phone that she had a gentle, attentive and sympathetic demeanor — which was confirmed when I saw her later that day. She was patient, thorough, and informative in her exam, and measured and obviously knowledgeable in her treatment plan for me. Having just been in the most excruciating pain in my life, I left her office still in pain (that was to be expected) but somehow distracted by my marveling all the way to the pharmacy what a lovely experience I just had.
That’s right. On a pain scale of 1 – 10, with 10 being falling into a wood chipper, I was a 9.99. Yet I’m using the word «lovely» to describe it, now that I’m in the care of Dr. Dyer. And I’m beginning to feel better already.
I highly recommend Dr. Dyer for all your gastro-​needs.

Dr. Dyer is amazing! She is a wonderful person and doctor who helped me get to the root of my problem. She is very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions in confidence, which made me trust her recommendations. I’m so thankful I found her and would recommend her to anyone!

She looked at one of most delicate areas with such grace and professionalism. She is very thorough in explaining everything she is going to do. Great bedside manner.

My boyfriend recently visited Dr. Dyer for the first time. For years he’s been talking to his General Practitioner about his stomach issues. That doctor took random stabs at solving his problems, without tests, to no avail. It took less than a week for Dr. Dyer to fit him in for an appt and she scheduled an endoscopy and colonoscopy immediately. The procedure was done within a week (on a weekend!) and she actually got a look at what is causing his issues. Dr Dyer said she would call before the end of the day to discuss his results, which she did, and he was even able to call her back directly and ask more questions. She started him on a treatment plan and gave him a list of things to avoid. She was attentive and responsive and did actual tests instead of just throwing random drugs at him based on a theory. We are very pleased so far.

Dr. Dyer is great. She takes time to be fully ‘present’ when she’s with you — she listens carefully and responds to all your questions without rushing. I had been misdiagnosed when I came from another doctor, she calmed my fears and got to the root of my problem. A really compassionate doctor with personalized care.
She is the only doctor in the office but always finds time to fit you in. She allots enough time to each patient so appointments run on time. She is fantastic.
