you’re down on your luck already if you need a jump or a tow; don’t roll the dice with some other company. I called these guys up and they were at my house in 20 minutes. The guy on the phone was courteous, up-​front, and knowledgable — and also the guy who ended up towing my car. His name was Carl, and he was excellent to work with.
Just call them already, seriously.

Never a good thing when your car needs to be towed, but if it comes to that, J&R is the way to go! Friendly, fast, and cheap! Best experience, without a doubt, that I’ve had with any towing company.

If you ever need car assistance this is the place to call! We were getting ready to leave the city when our car wouldn’t start. I called J & R who was so nice and at our car within twenty minutes. Carl was able to jump it and we were on our way! I am so happy we were able to use J & R towing.

First time I’ve used any towing service in Chicago, and I will say that I will only be using Carl at J&R Towing! He is a small business owner focused on making his customers happy, and getting the job done. As he says, Cash is King, so make sure to stop at an ATM, but he made sure my car was where it needed to be before he asked for any money. Gave me a quick and fair price quote, and we got it done. Keep this guy at a five star rating. He deserves it!

My boyfriend parked my car in a spot that he shouldn’t have — it took us about 15 minutes to get into the spot due to all the ice that had built up and no one shoveling it. After getting the car into the spot, we realize that we weren’t able to pull forward or backwards — we checked and noticed that we parked on 4 inches of ice.
We did all we could for an hour and a half to dig out my car and to clear the ice, but we couldn’t do it. We even pulled out the kitty litter to try to get traction under my tires! After digging and removing some ice, my car was practically at a 25 degree angle, and that’s when we knew it was time to call a towing company.
I went on Unilocal to find the closest towing company and J&R was the one with all the great reviews! I called them and the phone was quickly answered, unfortunately, the man on the phone wasn’t sure if he had anyone available so he had to make a couple calls. 2 minutes later my phone rang and someone was on their way! After 20 minutes of waiting (due to the snow/​weather), 10 minutes of him towing my car out of the spot, and $ 75 dollars later it was good to go!
I definitely recommend J & R towing. I would use them again and again and again if I had to!
FYI: Prices are really low compared to other towing companies. During the winter, companies normally jack their prices up by $ 50 because tows are usually needed during this time. What would have cost me over $ 100 was only $ 75!

This is the best towing company in Chicago. I was stuck in a parking space due to snow and ice, and none of the other companies that I or my insurance company called could fit me into their schedule. I called this company, and the guy fit me into his schedule and came within 30 minutes and pulled me out of the parking space. Excellent service and low price.

He saved my life and my job! My car was stuck in a side road, and he came by immediately and winched it out. I called another towing company «Dark Angel» and they were «Dark,» as in unprofessional and unfair. They prey on people’s misfortunes and upcharge. The other towing company was going to charge me $ 350 and make me wait 4 – 6 hours! J and R came to my rescue in less than 15 minutes and charged me $ 50 cash plus I added a tip b/​c he was genuinely friendly! Please give good people with fair business practices more business. They deserve it!

Extremely friendly. Was the only company in Chicago that answered the phone on the first call. Was also the least expensive of all of the companies I eventually spoke with.

I sold my car to a well intentioned but sorta pushy guy I don’t know from my hood. A mechanic told me last year that the back wheel was about to fall off, but the buyer wanted to drive it 5 – 6 miles on city streets to its destination. I had to talk him into a deal that I’d pay for a tow out of the purchase price.
Now it’s time for the tow… on five hours of sleep, I’m petrified the wheel will fall off while backing it into position, frazzled from jump starting the car and dealing with the buyer, and sad at losing this car I’ve had for 20 years.
Carl, having worked with me to make a Saturday AM appointment the week prior, is right on time, after calling to alert that he’s 20 minutes out. He dealt with both of us very professionally and efficiently, which required some patience. J&R was comparably priced to the other company I contacted and the small difference was money well spent. (Don’t understand their high reviews, as I was unimpressed with the initial phone contact and the guy’s assertion that I didn’t need a flatbed, perhaps because he didn’t have one.)
If you need a tow, I would enthusiastically recommend J&R!

I had a good experience with J&R Towing. My car had a dead battery, and I needed it towed to the auto repair shop down the street. Carl was very responsive and making an appointment was painless, despite the stress of dealing with my car. He even attempted to jump the car to «save me money.» Still, I found his towing price to be reasonable and will call him again if I need towing services.

When you have a flat tire or a dead battery and you need a tow, you tend to feel vulnerable, especially if you need to get it fixed fast. It would be easy to get gouged by an evil company.
But both times I have call Carl at J&R, he has been very responsive and quite reasonably priced. Like another reviewer, I found Carl through the guys at Ashland Tire (glowingly reviewed in a previous post), so I knew I was probably in good hands. And I was!
So, if you are reading this because your car died or you blew a tire, call Carl. He will be there quickly and it won’t cost an arm and a leg.

Responsive, courteous, affordable, and they treated our ’65 Mustang with kid-​glove care.

Got back into my car after a doctor’s appointment and it wouldn’t start (and it wasn’t the battery). Called Ashland Tire and Auto, who sent me to Carl. Carl arrived, came to look at the car, looked under the hood, and found a disconnected wire, which he reconnected (and made sure it was secure). The car started– no tow needed. Carl apologetically let me know he’d still have to charge for the service call– $ 40. Since I didn’t have the cash on me, he’s letting me drop it off when I do.
Turned what would have been a lousy day into a surprisingly good one.

I have used J&R three times and every time I have been very satisfied. Today I had the wrong idea about what was wrong with my car and thought I had to tow it to the dealer for a complex issue. Carl got here within an hour of my call to take my car to the dealer. He listened to what I thought was wrong with it – took a look — and advised that it was a much simpler fix than what I thought. He said he’d take it by my regular neighborhood mechanic first, and then if it needed to go to the dealer (8 miles away) he’d take it. My local mechanic was able to fix it, and I got great service from both of them. My car — which wouldn’t start — was back in working order in one afternoon.

This is a ol school no nonsense, no excuse towing company. These guys tow everything from mild to wild cars and know there business. Always the company to go to for all of my tow/​road service needs. Today, on my way to work, I got a flat tire en route to the Kennedy Expressway. I drove my car to the first gas station close by and to my dismay, the air pump was out of order.
Knowing I was unable to drive my car again to another gas station, I called Ashland Tire (who I have used in the past for tire services — and I highly recommend them too) and they gave me the number to J & R Towing.
When the guy answered the phone, he told me he was nearby not too far, and that he would be able to come assist me within half an hour. Not only was the gentleman who came on time, he was courteous and friendly, and within minutes, my car was towed to Ashland Tires.
Very reliable and friendly, I recommend J & R Towing with no hesitations.
