My favorite pizza place of all times! I’ve only had complaints and issues with the one on western… I think there is a higher turnover there. I stick with the one on 31st! It’s awesome! I love the buttery crust! I’ve never been disappointed at that location.

I don’t live in Chicago and never ate their pizza from the restaurant. But I saw the frozen variety in a Winn Dixie supermarket. Took a chance because it said Chicago Pizza on the box. I would have taken that chance if it had said New York Pizza too. I’m from New York and have eaten pizza from every pizza joint in Manhattan. So I compare every slice I eat with the best of New York. Home run inn pizza — the frozen version — is better than at least half of the freshly made pizza I have ever had. If your diet doesn’t consist of mostly chemical additives and artificial ingredients you will enjoy the taste of the crust. The texture is not doughy or breadline. Some prefer this approach. I like thin crispy crusts. This is hands-down the best of that type. If you eat lots of toxin-rich foods and overwhelming spices, don’t eat this pizza. Leave it for those of us who love great natural ingredients. The cheese melts like a freshly-made pie. The salt does not overwhelm everything else. And the sauce is not oily. I’ve eaten basic cheese and a variety of toppings. Either way, the taste is so close to freshly-made, I may no longer go out for pizza.

We have been enjoying Home Run Inn pizzas for over 50 years. In fact, we suggested they offer a special«club» for long time customers. The pizzas are always consistent, always delicious and when you have to have pizza … we have to have Home Run Inn. We especially like the«Par Bake» pizza which affords you the opportunity to finish baking the pizza at home so you can enjoy one during a Bears game or just because. From time to time we will stop in for lunch, but we prefer to take a pie home to enjoy.

I will NEVERINMYLIFE come back to this restaurant again! Back in the day, this was one of the best restaurants ever. It has changed. Big time. This was my father’s favorite restaurant when me and my 2 sisters were growing up. We would come here on the last Sunday of every month. Oh, the memories. And that is exactly what they are… memories. We came once again when we were adults. The service was mediocre. It was 10 of us including my parents, sisters, and grandchildren. Last month, my dad passed away. We didn’t want a traditional repast after the funeral. I thought it would be a good idea to come to his favorite restaurant as a family instead. That was the worst idea ever. So after the funeral, we were here. It was 15 of us… sisters, mom, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandkids. The kids got irritated quickly because they were hungry. It took us over an hour to get seated. We pre ordered our pizza at the counter so we wouldn’t have to wait long once we got the table. It wasn’t that crowded. I don’t understand why it took so long to get us a table. So we got seated and ordered the drinks. I ordered the pink moscato. After the funeral, I needed a drink to unwind. When the drinks came, everyone got theirs except for me. So I asked about it and Abby(the waitress) said that they don’t sell it no more. So WHY is it on the menu if you don’t sell it?! By this point, I was irritated because Abby was very rude! Smacking her lips and slamming drinks on the table. I was ready to smack her face! My 2 daughters ordered appetizers and 2 breaded chicken sandwiches with fries. Breaded, NOT grilled, and that’s exactly what they got, grilled chicken sandwiches. I. was. Livid! They already had to wait 30 – 45 minutes AFTER we got our pizza. I promptly went to the manager and demanded that I don’t get charged for the chicken sandwiches. I also told the manager how Abby acted. My 2 daughters ended up getting full from their appetizers. The food was just ok. The prices was totally ridiculous. The bill was $ 377 and some change. Can you believe that this restaurant doesn’t do split tabs?! So all 15 of us had to do a «guesstimate» of how much we needed to pay. So every time someone make a payment, they would print the receipt again for the new total. They did that for every transaction. It was a big mess! On top of that, they tacked on a $ 36 gratuity fee because of our large party. Why should we give her ANYTHING for her subpar crappy service?! I was beyond pissed off. And we were grieving the loss of our loved one. I felt bad because it was my idea to come. I will NEVER step foot inside of here ever again!

I go to the original location and have been for decades. I gave 4 stars because they weren’t consistent with the ingredients for a few years i.e. sausage, dough, crust. I always get the carryout. I stopped going there for about 5 or 6 yrs because they weren’t consistent. I even had to return a pizza in the dead of winter because it was not thoroughly cooked. I check the sausage because pork shouldn’t pink and I got pizzas before with sausage that had quite a bit of pink. Lately the sausage has been done. Since they have a survey now the pizza has been much better. I give a 5 star for the last few pizzas I got there. Beware of a big hole in the pavement in the parking lot across the street, it’s directly in the path as you walk in or out of the lot. I told the guy behind the counter but it’s been there for about 2 yrs. Also the employees seem glum/not happy. I’ll still go to the original location but I hope they remain consistent.

Came in today for dinner with my boyfriend after picking him up from work. I knew he was pretty hungry from skipping lunch so I gave him free range to decide on where he’d like to go for dinner. He picked this place out of curiosity, I told him I’ve always enjoyed Home Run Inn frozen pizzas, I was definitely interested in checking this place out for a fresh dine in experience! Coming in on a Friday, for dinner, I was very pleased to have found parking(Free) and be immediately seated! This place is HUGE and is definitely well numbered in it’s staff to table ratio!!! If this review was based on the service I’d give it 5 stars! The staff here are young and eager to add enjoyment to your dining experience. Kudos to the managers, they obviously put time in training these kids and it isn’t going unnoticed, keep it up! The minute we sat down we were greeted by our waitress and our drink orders were taken. Upon her return, with our drinks, she asked us if we were interested in ordering any appetizers. It being our first visit, we asked her if she had any recommendations, she ended up recommending the cheesy garlic bread which came out in a matter of minutes! Seriously, the minute the order was placed another staff member brought it out and it was like a magic trick, surprise! It could have been a meal on it’s own, it was huge! It was amazing and it was so hard to leave room for the pizza, which we had yet to order(we were so focused and amazed at our appetizer!). Drinks continued to magically appear on our table without asking, that’s a huge plus for me! By the time we were halfway through our appetizer, our waitress came back to check on us(which she did quite often). We placed our pizza order, XL Cheese Spinach Jalapenos, and we were back on track to finishing up that cheesy garlic bread! I have to mention, the tomato sauce they use is like no other! It complimented the cheesy garlic bread so well, I had to ask for another bowl/serving to dip my pizza in! It wasn’t a long wait for our pizza, which was really nice! The minute it was placed on our table I was ready to dig in! It was perfectly cooked a little crispy and soft around the center! They didn’t skimp on our toppings and more importantly the pizza tasted great! At first my boyfriend and I were not sure about ordering the XL but the fact that we had plenty to take home gives me something to look forward to for a midnight snack attack! GOBIGORSTAYHOME! What more can I say?! Our experience tonight was really great. It’s so refreshing when you find a well balanced restaurant that genuinely focuses on Top Notch Service — Quality — Customer Satisfaction! 5 Stars all around! It’s places like these that you can’t help but TIPVERYWELL!!! We will definitely be returning customers with a crowd and I will be adding Home Run Inn to my «Recommendations List»! I noticed that they offer a Pizza Buffet special(SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR), I am totally planning on checking it out — STAYTUNED! #SoLongSizeDoubleZero

Boy oh boy I’ve had my share of ups and downs and good & bads with this place. I’ve even had fist fights in here with other patrons and have become known to the staff from this incident that occurred about 10yrs ago. They’ve either loved or hated me in this place! I’ve had many celebration dinners here. I’ve also ALWAYS been favorable to this location ONLY!!! 31stHRI is my go to when there’s nothing to go to. There was a time I’d hit this place 3−4xs a week. Mostly all dining in. I’ve done take out 300xs also. My parents were raised here. I was raised here. Raised my kids here. Over the years they have become a hit or miss tho sadly to say, but I still will patronize. Mostly I order the small sausage/pepperoni w/xtra sauce and well done. I’ll occasionally add veggies. I like the wings. I love the Georgia peach! They’ve also become quite expensive over the years. Dope family spot. Good for groups. & celebration dinners.

Home Run Inn the gem of Little Village/south side. I’ve grown up on HRI as it was merely a block away from my childhood home and it’s such a treat to have. HRI pizza has such a unique flavor. The sauce is sweet, the mushrooms are my favorite, their sausage is good. The crusty is buttery yum. I do like their frozen pizzas, but the pizza from this original location is FIYAH! I just had take out today and it was the first time in probably a year since I last had HRI, and the cheese tastes different. Not bad, but it wasn’t the same. Regardless, if you want unique thin crust pizza, drive down to Little Village and get you some Home Run Inn!

Excellent pizza. Excellent service. I ordered it advance to-go and decided to eat here when I arrived. Checked in on Unilocal and got five dollars off my large sausage garlic butter crust pizza. This is heaven in a pizza restaurant. Yuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmm! The only thing that is a little embarrassing is that I thought I would take some home /well at least a lot more than I actually ended up having boxed up. I ate nearly the whole thing myself. OK – no regrets. I am a happy man. Thanks Home Run Inn.

I love a place that offers turkey sausage instead of pork. Pizza is so yummy! The bacon and cheddar fries are to die for! One portion feeds all 4 of our family. Everytime we visit we leave happy and full. Love the discount offers too!

Not Me: I decided on a frozen pizza from HRI for dinner. Me: Will you please pick up some cheap brand pizza for me? Thanks! Not Me: … I got home and proceeded to eat half of the HRI pizza and now I never hear the end of it. You see, I had tried HRI pizzas a few different times in the past and never liked it, so I was just being a brat that day. Since then, I have been begging to go to an actual location for awhile and while on the way to booze it up(naturally) we drove past this location and I exclaimed«I know what we’re having for dinner!!» The pizza was delicious. I was tripped up by the fact they cut it in squares, because you just don’t see that too often, but for being told the pizza tastes just like the frozen ones, I thought it was slightly better. I insisted on mozzarella sticks, he insisted on garlic cheesy bread and we lived happily ever, at least for the rest of that evening. The place gets busy, so as expected, their parking lot fills up fast. It’s not cheap pizza, but when you want that cheez-it crust taste and something different than the usual Chicago stuff, Home Run Inn is a solid choice. If you love their frozen pizzas, it’s worth stopping here at least once.

Consistency over the years… best pizza in the city in my mind… come to 31st, where it’s made fresh… lots of places mimic this spot… but this was one of the original.

This is what I miss most about living in Chicago(besides family and friends of course!); good food. This pizza is the stuff of legends. The crust is perfection: just the right thickness and just the right consistency. The sauce is tomato-y and rich. The cheese is gooey and flavorful. And the Italian sausage… It’s heavenly! The place is busy. Very, very busy. So the service is slow. But who cares? The pizza is worth the wait.

Mmm, sausage and cheese on their regular crust — they give you 2 small plastic tubs of hot pepper and Parm cheese to sprinkle over; the pizza tastes even better when it’s cold. Kind of salty, but just the way I like it. It is a bit pricey, though — a large sets you back at about $ 23. My dad and I love their pizza! :D +sausage & cheese pizza: D

My guy didn’t feel like driving to the Archer location so we came here. Besides, it’s the original so gotta try it. Service is not that attentive. She took our order and never really came to check up on us. I think the pizza here might be a little better than the Archer location, but not by much. A bit pricey and service isn’t the best. They do have a parking lot. I still think their frozen pizzas is one of the best.
