HM Day Spa

I love this place. Great value. Pedicures last for weeks. They are all so friendly. Worth the extra $ 5 to get a quality service compared to the other cheaper places in the neighborhood.

First time here but will def be coming back! I desperately needed a pedicure and was looking for a place close to where I live and, out of three other places, this one had the best reviews and ratings so I decided to give it a try, even though it was a slightly further walk. And I’m so glad I gave it a shot — I arrived at a little after a 11 and the earliest they had was a 12:00 appointment so I decided to wait because I knew if I went home, I wouldn’t be making the walk back. They were very nice and accommodating — I was fine waiting in the reception area since I was «early» but they offered to set up a station and let me soak early. The receptionist was a delight and checked in on me during my soak and refilled my water. Dorota was awesome and did a wonderful job on my nails — very professional and took extra care to remove the dead skin from my feet (retail employee being on my feet all day takes its’ toll) and she cleaned up my nails as well as cut them. Amazing experience, friendly staff!

The best of the best for no chips, manis and pedis. So friendly and professional. Relaxation is key, super zen and calm environment. So pleased I found this place, a real gem!

After getting off an 18 hour flight at 5am NYE, I def needed a massage! I was able to book the same day and Fabian was my masseuse. He’s excellent and use the perfect pressure and very accommodating. I was greeted by the staff as soon as I walked in and waited less than 5 minutes for Fabian to get me (even though I arrived early for my appointment). My room was bare but had all the essentials I needed– heated table, low lighting and soft music. 60 minutes was plenty of time for Fabian to knead out all my knots and I’d definitely go back.

Great experience! I was treated promptly and with great care. Loved all my services — massage with Pablo, spa pedi and mani — and plan on going back!

Went in for an 8:15pm appointment, which was much appreciated given my pretty jam packed schedule.
They actually called me an hour before my appointment because something opened up, but I was tied up. Still, great customer service, IMO.
So I went for a much needed bikini wax, and Irene (pronounced ee-​ree-​nay) was a perfectionist in a way I’ve never seen anyone attending to the area before. She applied pressure after pulling and it made it hurt so much less. She laughed as I flinched over and over, but she actually made it not that painful, and even suggested a breathing technique that was/​is supposed to help calm someone down. I found myself daydreaming and it only took 30 minutes.
It was $ 65 for what ended up being more than a bikini wax (sometimes you gotta just make a call on the spot). Anyway, I think the price was reasonable, and the service excellent. And the fact that they’re open until 9 on Monday night (maybe other days too, not sure?) was awesome.

I went a couple weeks ago for a massage and manicure and I loved both. My no chip manicure lasted over two weeks. Great overall experience I will definitely be back.

I have been to HM a few times now and they never disappoint. Everyone is friendly and its very relaxing. I’ve gotten my nails done and everything was great and the pedis are the best. Terry and Alex are amazing. When it comes to waxing, Max is who I like. Its not easy to find a great wax-​er! This is definitely a great and professional establishment!

Just had a Brazilian done with Max not only is she so sweet but gentle and quick. I will be returning in 4 weeks.

I went in for a last minute pedicure as it was close to where I live. I think I got the ‘newbie’ because all she did was remove the polish, file the nails down and push the cuticles back. I was looking for her to at least assess if I had any ingrown nails (which I did). A waste of $ 38 so will be looking fit another spot for pedicures!

My first time visit to HM Day Spa started bumpy but improved.
My wife and I arrived for a 5:30pm couples massage and was seated in the waiting area. The staff member initially told us that our reservations were not on file, went away to check for a few minutes and than said we were in the system. We were promised water but that didn’t arrive until 10 minutes after we were seated. At other massage places water is usually available in the waiting room or given immediately. I am not snobby about water but the wait for it was unusual.
There was a 32 minute delay with the start of our massage because they said a previous appointment was running over and that our room wasn’t ready. When I asked if it was another couple who was running over, the staff said no. I only assume that they only have 2 massage therapists on staff this night and one was late which made our couple session very, very late.
For all the trouble the staff, discounted our couples massage considerably, originally a $ 170 couples massage, we ended up paying $ 138 (including tip). The massages overall were fine, not memorable, not bad, just your standard 60 minute full body massage.
So, not a very «relaxing» start to a Friday night after a long week of work but we had a good couples massage and HM adjusted the rate due to the inconvenience. I would give HM another try.

Request Alexandra! She did an incredible job on my toes and I really enjoyed my experience. I have been looking for a clean, reasonable salon. When I was looking for the front door some of the locals who lived in the building told me I would love my experience — they were right! Its clearly known as a great salon by the locals. A great place for a friend date, parties of 10, or to take the mother-​in-​laws when she comes to town.

A little paradise 5 minutes from the loop. We needed some tlc after a tubing/​camping trip and this was the best solution. Great customer service and each masseuse was knowledgeable, professional, and very effective.

To top my bad experience with horrible customer service, THREE of my nails have CHIPPED and not even 24 hours has passed. That is absolutely ridiculous! A picture will follow.

Awesome place. A friend took me there for my bday. Best bday gift this year. Excellent service. The people there was super friendly and attentive. My massage and facial was awesome. I felt so refresh after I left there. Definitely will recommend this place and will be going back.

I love this place. Took my friend there today for her birthday; SPA DAY!!! Christopher did my massage and Anastasiya did my manipedi. Both were nice and professional. We sipped tea compliments of them and relaxed. Great customer service. I will be back again and my friend said she enjoyed herself so much that she’d come back more often with her mom and other friends.

My first time was for Facial and I was very happy with everything, the place is so clean and relaxing. Second time was HORRIBLE I face waxing and my upper lip is totally burned!!! I made it clear that i have sensitive skin and i went back to other day to complain and try to find a solution because i had a wedding the other day. there were so MEAN, they didnt even apologize! they let me walk out while i am very frustrated!!! IF YOU WANNA GET YOUR FACE BURNED GO TO THIS PLACE

My girlfriend went last week for her birthday. She was so pleased that I decided to go for my birthday, and what a treat.
I arrived and was met by the gentleman at the desk who was very friendly and offered water or tea. I then had a massage with Amanda that was just amazing. When she finished I had to pull myself together I was so relaxed. She was attentive, gentle and strong I totally enjoyed massage. Next I had a facial with Svelte and she was also amazing, my face feels wonderful so clean and soft. Next I had a pedi and mani. Terry was very good, and very patient as I sampled six different nail polishes.
The spa was very clean, nice relaxing music, all the staff very friendly and professional, and the package for $ 160 was worth every penny for all the services.
I look forward to returning once a month and I’m telling all my friends.
My one minor complaint was that it was very cold outside and it was a little cool inside, it could have been warmer.

If anyone knows of another place where you can get a 60-​minute massage AND mani/​pedi for $ 100, please let me know. That price is winning all day.
Front desk:
I called same day for two «relaxing spa day» packages, which include a 60-​minute massage and mani/​pedi for $ 100. They had availability for the two of us to go at the same time in the afternoon which was perfect. The gentleman took our names for the reservation and confirmed whether it would be okay for one person to have a male and the other to have a female masseuse. Sure, no problem. Upon arrival, a female asks whether we have a reservation, to which I reply, yes, for two spa packages. She’s polite, says okay and escorts us back to the spa waiting area. She explains the process, has us fill out forms, etc. I had been here one time years ago so I remembered that they have steam showers available for use after the massage. The gentleman on the phone didn’t mention it but confirmed that was true AFTER I brought it up. Same thing happened with the lady in the waiting room.
1. Why doesn’t the staff offer/​recommend/​suggest this INCLUDED service outright? ODD.
Massage:
Zdrauko was my masseuse. He did a fine job, but I frequently had to tell him to be more firm. I wonder whether males are more timid working on females? My mom said her female masseuse got it in without having to ask repeatedly! Anyway, it was a good massage, not the best, but good.
2. Why did I have to ask AGAIN after the massage to be directed to the steam shower?
Zdrauko was on top of it though. After my request, he escorted me to the shower, explained how to use all of the buttons, adjustments, etc. and left me to enjoy! It was a great steam. I allowed it to get up to 94 degrees and had the rain shower head flowing. It felt amazing! The only negative was that the shower was a little dinky. Half of the nozzles for the jets were broken so they didn’t shoot out properly and the knob for adjusting the settings had broken off so it was a struggle with oily handles to move things around. I stuck with the rain shower — which was the best anyway — and just struggled in the beginning and end to turn it off.
My mom on the other hand was NOT directed to the shower — but rather to the waiting room. I was more vocal and asked, but she shouldn’t have had to. We had discussed this over the phone AND before the massage. So after some time waiting, she did request the shower and was directed that way. She later told me that she was never given instructions on how to use it (and there are a lot of controls and knobs) so that was annoying she had to struggle to figure it out. Unacceptable.
She enjoyed her massage thoroughly though… and eventually the steam shower too.
Nails:
My nail tech, Dorota, was great. Initially we were both really quiet, which is good, but the salon was empty so it got eerie after a while. LOL. My mom took a while to come in because of her steam shower fiasco so it remained quiet for most of my pedicure… we chatted more freely during my manicure though and she was nice. And the massage seat was more firm than my actual massage. SMH. She did a good job and the polish lasted a good while over the next week so I was happy. I usually don’t get color on my hands but I tried it out and was happy I did. My pedicure is still looking good, as expected. It’s too bad their mani/​pedi on its own is $ 45. No thanks. I don’t pay that much for that service. But with the massage it’s a total of $ 100? Yes — I’ll do that.
I’d come back because of the value of the «relaxing spa day» package. But separately, I wouldn’t do either the massage or the mani/​pedi. The steam shower is a huge benefit for this place and I’m dumbfounded as to why they don’t advertise it

I used to love this place! The good service of the massage therapists and the nail techs, and great prices kept me coming back. The one thing I didn’t like about the place was the RUDE manager who works the phones and the front desk. But because the other employees and the place itself was so nice, her behavior didn’t keep me from coming back. Though maybe it should have…
Now — HM wants a 50% deposit paid at the time you make the appointment. It used to just be that if you wanted an appointment, you provided your credit card in case you were a «no show» and didn’t cancel, they would charge you 50%. That is reasonable, fair, and a pretty standard practice. But actually paying a deposit for a mani-​pedi before you even go is RIDICULOUS. No salons do this! Ugh.
So today, when I was told I could not make the appointment for myself, mom and friend, without paying a 50% deposit for all of us, I said that I guess I wouldn’t be able to do that because I wasn’t sure who would be getting regular vs. no chip manicures (plus I don’t necessarily want to pay for the others that are coming with me!!!). I asked if there was any other way and was told «I’m just following policy.» I asked for a manager. I was told «I am a manager.» I asked if she or anyone else could help figure this out or discuss (since I had been there many times before, and had never cancelled nor skipped an appointment) and was told «No». I asked if she had a boss or a manager that I could talk to and was told «No, there’s no one here that can talk to you. My boss is here on Fridays.»
So there was no one to talk to about this, no solutions offered, just plain rudeness. So here I am venting my frustrations on Unilocal. I have spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars at this place over the past few years and guess that I’ll have to take my mani-​pedis and massage money elsewhere, where customers are treated RESPECTFULLY.
You know, had the manager not been SO RUDE in the past and on the phone today, I probably woudl have had no problem paying a deposit, but it was seriously the «straw that broke the camel’s back.» I have had some other negative experiences with this same manager (on the phone and in the salon, one time she made me cry) and can’t wait until she’s fired so that I can start coming back!
