Hard Rock Hotel Chicago

This was my first time staying at this particular Hard Rock. Very modern and nice. The rooms were clean and spacious. Nicely designed as far as convenient outlets and lights. Nice large flat screen with a speaker as a boosted audio system.
They also called me a few minutes after I checked in to make sure everything was good in my room. A very nice touch and a rare occurance in my experience.
The lobby area had a ping pong table and a Fender Guitar «play station», where you can test out playing a Fender guitar.
There was also a bar/​restaurant attached to the lobby. Not far, walking distance, to a bunch of other restaurants.
There was also Valet parking available. There’s also a souvenir shop in the lobby too. I would definitely stay here again when I’m in the area again.

The worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in! The room was so disappointing! I’ve stayed at Holiday Inns that were nicer than this place. Just because there’s a guitar on the pillow case & a pic of a rock star in the bathroom doesn’t qualify as «rock n roll» feel. Our air didn’t work it was a very hot summer day & our room was 76 degrees & climbing! We asked for help several times they sent up some guy who basically pushed buttons just like we did & nothing changed. They sent up a nasty box fan to try & cool our room. We asked to move rooms but they said they had no other room. When it was time to sleep that was a joke! Due to our room being right near the elevator so we heard banging all freaking night long! We got compt a breakfast meal but that wasn’t enough to change the whole night ruined. It was suppose to be an awesome weekend with my mom, sister & daughter but thanks to the Hard rock hotel it didn’t turn out that way.

Okay so we stayed here this past weekend. The room wasn’t bad. I only had 3 problems with the room. 1 it didn’t come with a refrigerator so I count keep anything cold. 2 didn’t come what a microwave so I couldn’t heat my food up. 3 the bed wasn’t that comfortable. Felt like an old dust spring mattress. Couldn’t really sleep worth a damn because I could feel the springs from the mattress in my back.

The customer service is incredible here which is why I gave 5 stars due to the fact that customer service is extremely important to me. They make up for any small stain on the wall, empty fridge, construction in front of a window that I seen people complain on here about haha! I LOVE staying here all because of the customer service. I come to Chicago once a month and have found myself almost obsessed with staying here. They were always extremely accommodating and apologetic if I was not satisfied with something… usually nothing major in particular. I loved the house keeping, they were very respectful and mindful and the front desk staff were my favorite by far even compared to all the 4 – 5 star hotels I stayed at in Chicago. So many local food stores and shops around, I was in their gym daily, and never needed to really take an über or can anywhere. It was all around me. I may sound dramatic in this post but that’s just how I feel haha :) must stay here !!! Keep it up hard rock hotel, Chicago! I am extremely pleased with the staff! Thanks !

Stayed at the Hardrock a couple a weeks ago and it’s was very nice got to Chicago earlier and was able to check in with no problems. Room was very clean and had great views of the city from the 20^th floor. Would definitely stay again but only thing just be prepared if you want valet parking to pay $ 65.

whenever I am in Chicago I stay here. Location location location! You step out the door and are in the middle of all the action. Everything is walking distance or a very short cab ride away (besides wrigley, but that is not too far anyways). The staff is very helpful and friendly, from the front desk to the valets to the bartenders. There are two bars/​restaurants there where we would always go for drinks either before a night in the city or after a long day. Everyone who works in those places are awesome!
The building itself is very cool too. When you take tours (like the architectural boat tour) they always mention the hard rock. When I travel to large cities I always go by location and easiness. This place possesses both. Just a great overall experience, especially if your looking to explore Chicago for the first time!

Thank you Hard Rock Hotel for making a working girl feel special. Loved my 26^th floor view and huge tub. Very relaxing treat. I will always pick you when traveling to Chicago!

Pricey for the size, items and amenities of the room. The entire hotel smelled like sun lotion too, which bothered me a little. The service was great though, and it was cool seeing rock n roll memorabilia (or replicas) on display throughout the place. The first floor with its guitar and photo op was fun too.

There was a disruptive room next to us playing music all night long. 1 call to the front desk and they calmed it. Could use fluffy blankets in the bitter chicago weather. The view was from the north east side of the building so totally beautiful. i liked my stay and we’ll stay again if there’s another group on deal.

Honestly, I think it’s a little pricey for the rooms they provide, but overall it’s not bad. I do really like themed hotels for some reason and I think they did a great job with the rock theme. My only real complaint is that the rooms I have stayed in did not have a fridge. I do love the location and how conveniently close it is to many major attractions in Chicago. The staff are all very friendly and helpful if you need something. The restaurant «Chuck’s» is located on the lobby floor of the hotel and I would recommend stopping in there for breakfast; the skillets and french toast they serve are delicious. I also like the fact that the hotel has a bag service that you can use even after you checkout in case you want to walk around Chicago and not have to carry a biblical amount of luggage around the city. I would recommend this hotel, especially if you are a fan of themed hotels.

Food was decent but overpriced.
iPad, shower and mirror in bathroom were not functioning properly.
The floor themes were really cool but it isn’t worth the price. You could honestly just walk in and check out each floor even if you aren’t staying here.
I definitely won’t be coming back.

Actually I probably owe a huge kudos to the concierge staff for putting up with us. Especially, Scott for all your help and for pointing us to one of our best meals in Chicago. All with a smile– You deserve a promotion!
Despite all the crazy memories here… stumbling in drunk, watching my friend hit on almost every male member of your staff, the early morning walks of shame through your lobby… Hard Rock’s location is one of the best in city. You can walk almost anywhere with the right pair of boots– restaurants, Millennium park, bars, shopping…

This is reported as a 4 star hotel. I have no idea how the ratings are created but I would never spend the money on this place again. The furniture is beat up and not very impressive, the shower had moldy corners, the mini fridge was completely empty, they did not restock the bathroom amenities. The concierge was rude as hell, and there appears to be bleach stains on the carpet. The hotel bar that is elegant closed at 11 and our after dinner drink turned into a lobby drink. The other failed cool runnings Jamaican style bar had odd lawn furniture and such a cheesy atmosphere we wouldn’t even go in.

I booked the room for a pretty fair price on Expedia! And I was a bit skeptical from the other reviews that I read. I arrived to the hotel earlier than scheduled at around 11 o’clock and I was actually able to check in at that time which was great! The room was clean the bathroom was cleanish as it had some mold in the shower.
The bed was so freaking comfortable!!!
But honestly the best thing about the hotel is the location!
It’s close to everything that you want to do in Chicago. it’s super close all the trains. It’s an Über away from Navy pier, it’s a short walk to the sky deck. Popular restaurants are also in walking distance…

We stayed at the Hard Rock on a Hotwire deal, so I feel comfortable with a 3 star rating, given I didn’t pay as much as the room was worth. Had I paid more, this would probably be closer to a 2 or 2.5
The location was great for the one night we were downtown, we were able to walk to the event we were attending at the Chicago Cultural Center, which was perfect.
The room was a decent size for the two of us, but the ventilation was not enough to keep the whole room cool.
The first things I noticed were (room 1415)
1. The window curtains need replacing. They’re shabby and ripped.
2. The iPad provided (I’m assuming for hotel info and room service since I did not see a book?) was dead and broken, would not hold a charge.
3. The shower, while cool looking, is completely unconventional. I could not be getting ready in the bathroom (makeup) while my boyfriend was showering, because there was water all over the floor.
4. The vanity mirror in the bathroom was broken (lightbulb out.)
5. One of the faucet knobs was broken (half the handle missing) and did not work.
Staff on the other hand was extremely friendly and courteous. We forgot the wedding card in the car and the valet was nice enough to retrieve it for us. Concierge was on point when it came to making a breakfast recommendation. When we came downstairs dressed in our black-​tie best, every staff person we encountered was quick to offer a compliment.
If they come down on their price point, it might be worth it. I’ll probably stick to other places where I know the quality of amenities matches the price.

The Hard Rock Hotel was a decent stay. It’s by no means the Ritz-​Carlton but it was perfect for a 4 day stay in Chicago. The hotel is decorated in rock paraphernalia and it’s very trendy. It’s a full service hotel with a bell hop, doorman, a restaurant, a bar, multiple floors, and low and behold rooms. It’s very Chicago with some of it’s attributes like the vintage elevators even though it’s decorated with a bunch of rock paraphernalia minus the cocaine.
My buddy and I arrived on our first night and the reception greeted us with a smile and very friendly. We booked a one bed room with the intention of getting a roll out bed cause it was cheaper. However, once we got to our room, we called to have the roll out bed delivered to our room. They offered to upgrade our room to a two queen bed for no charge. I tried to tip the reception for their kind deed but they didn’t accept it. Major bonus points like a boyfriend sending his girlfriend flowers for no reason. FYI, there’s always a reason.
The room was pretty spacious and we had a view of the Riverwalk. They also provided us with free wifi when you usually have to pay for it. There was a full size desk and we didn’t encountered any issues with the restroom. The maid always had a smile on her face and check on us daily.
The best part of the Hard Rock was the location. It was in the middle of everything in Chicago. It was two blocks from Millennium Park, two blocks from Mag Mile, a block from Riverwalk, 3 blocks from the famous Chicago Theater, 3 blocks from the Art Institute, a 15 minutes ride to the Southside, 15 minutes to Wrigley Park, 10 minutes from 360 Chicago, and there’s loads of places to grab food/​drinks. You get the point like someone cussing you out.
Overall, I definitely enjoyed my stay at the Hard Rock and would definitely recommend it. It’s in the middle of everything, the service was awesome, and it was fairly price for its location. It was pretty awesome like the city of Chicago.

We booked this room through Expedia based on its location, quality, and price.
We arrived pretty late on Thursday evening, it’s about a $ 40 cab ride, or a $ 26 über ride. When we went to check in the front desk gentleman was very friendly. I asked him if our room had an amazing view and he quickly looked it up and changed our room to something a little more easy on the eyes! It was awesome!
The room was a decent size. Clean. The bathroom very spacious. Lots of TV channels. Plenty of outlets. No free wifi though as a matter of fact, it was $ 13+ a day!!! That kind of sucked but whatever. It was easy to walk to millineum park, the double decker stops, and the magnificent mile from the hotel. There’s plenty of convenience stores close as well but keep in mind there’s no fridge or microwave. Well at least not in my room. I noticed a lot of reviews on here talked about the spiders. I did see them, lots! But they were outside the window so nothing to be too worried about. Just creepy.
My main complaint was the room service cleaning ladies didn’t come until almost 4 o’clock each day! By that point we’d been gone since 9 in the morning and wanted to come back, rest, wash up, and get ready for the evening but couldn’t because not only was our room not cleaned but at one point someone was in there cleaning it. Not exactly what you want to come back to when you’ve been gone all day. I’m going to assume they were maybe short staffed this weekend and was just running a little (lot) behind.
They also fail to mention at check in or out about the $ 50 PER NIGHT deposit that is held on your card. And when to expect to see it back.
So overall for the amount of money we spent, my experience here was just mediocre. And for almost $ 900 for three nights I need more than mediocre.

so sad that I chose to stay here at the Hard Rock Hotel and pay all this money. Money spent for a broken shower head, lights that don’t work, mold in the bathroom, a NON stocked mini frig. (that is suppose to have something inside. After getting off a jumping elevator we got out and get in another elevator that got stuck on a random floor (yes not the floor we pushed. Thank god it first opened its doors & we hopped off & had to walk down 10 flights of stairs (after waiting 7 min) why… the other elevators would not come to take us down because that one stayed opened. Hard Rock Needs to get it together !!

Stayed at the Hard Rock for a wedding, the event was in the hotel, which was super convenient. The hotel is in a GREAT location. Everyone i encountered was super nice and helpful. We arrived at the Hotel from OHare around 11am, fully expecting to have to put our bags with the bell man and kill time before check in, but they just handed us our room keys! The room was nice, not huge but spacious enough. It was a little noisy at night but nothing you wouldnt expect at a fun, downtown hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend visiting chicago!

My boyfriend and I decided to go on a trip to Chicago in the middle of January (no, we’re not crazy, I promise). We were both dying to take a small vacation and saw this great Groupon deal for this Hard Rock Hotel so we jumped on it.
It was our «first trip» together as a couple so we were both really excited. It was also my boyfriend’s first time visiting Chicago (my second), so I was extra excited to show him around and go to all the delicious restaurants I went to on my first trip.
When we arrived to the hotel, check-​in went smoothly. We had the King Bed Tower Suite and, initially, the room appeared to our liking. The city views of Chicago were great from the bedroom and living area. We were only planning to stop by the hotel to drop our bags, freshen up, and head out to grab a bite to eat. Just as we were leaving the room and went to put our valuables in the safe, we realize it wasn’t working at all. A bummer, but we thought we would just address it with the staff downstairs on our way back in. When we returned to our room later that evening, my boyfriend went downstairs to talk to the staff about the safe while I was showering to get ready for dinner. The shower head in the bathroom nearly fell off the wall when I turned it on. It was just dangling, exposing a hole in the wall. I basically has to shower with one hand while using my other arm to hold and aim the shower head where I needed it. Very unpleasant. When my boyfriend returned from downstairs and I told him about the shower, he was really bothered. We were on a time crunch to make dinner reservations so we had to rush to get going, but planned on talking to the Manager upon our return.
When we made it back to the hotel that night, we spoke to the Manager (his name escapes me) and explained how we were unhappy with the room we were in due to the broken shower head and safe. He asked if he could go take a look at our room with us, which we gladly did. Upon seeing what our complaints were first-​hand, he apologized and said he would upgrade us to their Extreme Suite free of charge. He also gave us a few free drink passes for their lounge in the lobby (Angels & Kings).
Once we saw the suite, we felt so much better! It was huge room with a large living area that had a pool table right in the middle, as well as a larger bedroom and bathroom with a shower and tub. After that, our stay became much more comfortable and relaxed. We had a great time enjoying the space, playing pool every day, and taking in the spectacular city views from every angle.
Since I’m not sure if our initial room experience was just bad luck or if they purposely gave us a half-​ass room because we purchased through Groupon, I can’t really give this place 4 – 5 stars. I did read another person’s review about a broken shower head experience they had as well. I would have rating 2 stars at most if we had not been accommodated to a better room. However, I do hope to return sometime in the future to give this place another shot because the location was great, the hotel and rooms were clean, and the downstairs lounge was fun and lively.

The location can’t be beat. Polite customer service. Visit the bar for a drink. We have booked again this June.

Why is 1 star highway robbery not an option? Please see Jesi’s review below because it’s exactly what I came here to post. To summarize: NYE party promised until 2 AM, 12:01 am the lights came on, the music stopped and the bars stopped serving, leaving hundreds of paying customers to go find something else to do on NYE in Chicago. I emailed corporate, explained the situation and asked for a refund and they had this to say:
«Thank you for welcoming in 2015 with Hard Rock Hotel and Chicago New Years Eve Party. We appreciate your feedback and can certainly both understand and empathize with your disappointment in the outcome of the evening. However, the safety and security of our guests is always our first and most important priority.
Though the event was not oversold, there was unfortunately A DISCREPANCY WITH THE CITY OF CHICAGO IN REGARDS TO CAPACITY, which caused the fire marshal to shut down the event earlier than anyone could have anticipated at 12:30am.
Per the ticket policy, all sales are final: „There are no refunds, no cancellations, no credits, no exchanges, and no transfers after the order has been made. Unforeseen circumstances beyond control will not be grounds for a refund, including but not limited to the following: local or national weather conditions and natural disasters, waiting in lines, family and medical emergencies.“
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced as a result of these unforeseen circumstances beyond our control and hope you understand our responsibility to put the safety of our guests first.»

«A discrepancy with the City of Chicago» in regards to capacity is VERY much WITHIN your control. When I tell people of the horror on my NYE 2015 at the Hard Rock people literally do not believe me, NYE over at 12:01 am? Everyone cleared out stranded in Chicago by12:30 am? The ticket clearly stated the party was to last until 2 am. If you want further proof check out the tweet I sent them with time stamped photos, (no response from Hard Rock of course) Is this the kind of NYE celebration you want for $ 150?
The picture speaks for itself, thank you for ruining my New Years and having abhorrent customer service. Never will I ever hear the brand name Hard Rock without regaling everyone in presence of this experience.

My stay at the Hard Rock Hotel was pretty good. Check-​in was fast and easy and the staff was great. My room was located on the 23^rd floor, the Led Zeppelin floor. My room was clean yet a little dated. The bathroom was a bit questionable. There was rust in the shower which bothered me but for the most part, everything was okay.
The biggest thing that annoyed me about the room was the lack of light. My room was dark! The walls were charcoal grey with floors to match. Now I’m a sucker for a well executed theme, but the darkness was way too much. Not to mention that the lighting in the room was low and there were only a few lights/​lamps in the room. This made it difficult to do things like put on makeup or iron since it was so hard to see. The bathroom wasn’t any better. I really wish they could add better lighting.
