I got a good deal on an old sewing machine from this place. My idea was to refurbish it into a bathroom sink vanity. See before & after pic’s.

I have purchased multiple items of furniture from here. They are all nice wooden items that look amazing in my place. If you love antiques this is the place to go.

I went here hoping to find something cheap and old for a conservation class. I didn’t find a painting I wanted to buy, but I did find a small wooden horse/music box that I was pretty pleased with. And my friend found quite a few small items that she absolutely loved and bought for a way discounted price. The guy who helped us was very nice, and willing to work on the price. I would recommend this place and would shop here again.

I was referred to Good Deal Garage by Sherman from Mercantile M. He said it was the place to find a new shelf for a crate bookcase. He was right. Elvis custom cut a board to fit the case perfectly. While I was there I also found the perfect height legs for a vintage suitcase I was turning into a table. You can’t beat 4 legs for $ 10. The customer service is excellent and the pricing is very cheap. You can get some decent original artwork for under $ 30.

I can’t emphasize enough how much I love this place. First of all, delivery is $ 20, no matter how much stuff you get.(The cheapest I ever heard of for delivery is $ 40, and more like $ 60+ dollars.) The furniture is often cheaper than at a thrift store, and I can’t find that they have any of that used Ikea/knockdown furniture. All of the furniture is either antique, or pre-knockdown furniture. The really great part is that there is stuff for all sorts of budgets. For instance, you can actually get a coffee table for $ 10, $ 20, or $ 40 bucks. Now, of course, the $ 10 is going to be sort of rickety and maybe have scratches. But sometimes, you just need a coffee table and are totally broke. But then there are also higher quality ones. I managed to get a cabinet/pantry that was just adorable, and it was $ 165. Like I said, all kinds of prices. The furniture is unique, and has character. This is truly a store for people like me who get mad just thinking of Ikea. Yay Elvis and his dad for running this awesome place! PS: Even though there were going to be closed on a Monday a couple of weeks ago, Elvis gave me his cell number, so I could simply come by with my moving truck, and they would load up the cabinet/pantry I had bought. The ultimate family-owned, customer-friendly, place. Plus, Elvis is kind of hot.

I’ve picked up both a terrific desk and dresser here — quality wood, $ 60−70/each. I like Elvis the owner quite a bit, super nice guy. I’ve also picked up things like mason jars, martini glasses, lamps, funky artwork… I think there’s always treasures to be found here and much more reasonably priced than some of the surrounding antique shops.

If you are looking for affordable furniture with history and personality at an affordable price, then you need to check out this hidden gem. In an area where there are high end and consignment furniture businesses galore, Good Deal Garage has really hit the sweet spot for me because the prices are very low and the quality and variety of of the furniture is surprising stellar. If you have a DIY spirit to do some minor restorations, this place can save you a lot of money on great furniture pieces. I was able to find a nice quality mid-century writing desk for $ 80, plus $ 20 to deliver it to Lakeview. Elvis, who owns the place, was very open to bargaining, and agreed to bring the price down from $ 95. Very good doing business indeed. There is a trove of treasures that can be found here, especially when the prices for similar pieces would be 2 – 5 times as much at the higher end places next door. UPDATE: We found out that the writing desk that we purchased for $ 80 is a real by Drexel(original stamps still inside drawers and on underside), from its 1958 Biscayne line. Similar restored pieces from this line now retail between $ 2000 – 5000. Talk about a good deal garage!!!

I really like Good Deal Garage — it’s a decent sized warehouse-y garage space(super inconspicuous from the street, looks actually a lot like an actual parking garage you can leave your car at) owned by an Eastern European family, although since I only go on the weekends, I always see the son, Elvis. He is pretty great — funny, old-school chivalrous(will never let the ladies lift anything remotely ‘heavy’), and completely willing to dicker on pricing, especially if you come in frequently. The shop has a whole medley of things, from pretty nice lightly used furniture to scruffier pieces to dining ware, decorations, and even a room with vintage clothing now. Last year they did some remodeling and cleaned up the aisles a bit, I think they have a decorator/buyer of sorts on board, and I assume the prices have gone up a bit since then. That being said, you can find real gems in this place at outrageously affordable prices. I’ve purchased a wine rack floor standing sleek metal wine rack(holds… 10 or so bottles, I’ve actually never really counted) for $ 15 from here, a in-good-condition coffee table for $ 20, and most recently a five drawer great condition dresser for $ 60. Elvis actually delivered the dresser himself(and put it in the room I wanted and everything) the week I bought it for a flat fee of $ 10. Not bad at all. Overall, I will be back again and again to Good Deal to peruse the aisles and see if there are any other goodies for my place. It’s especially fantastic if you like to do craftsy fixer-upper projects, as you can find things on the cheap that are just begging for a fresh coat of paint and VOILA great piece at an even better price.

Went shopping here today for some furniture. Found a few things I wanted & was able to make a deal with the owner on the price. They even helped me load the furniture into my van. I will definitely be back for more!

Here’s how it works for me. I recently rehabbed my flat. I’ll think«oh, I need a drink trolly» and I’ll walk across the street to this place and boom– there it is. Do the pieces I buy need some loving? Gosh darn right they do. But was the piece $ 30 bucks and full of character? YES. My family and I go here when we need something and if we don’t find what we need, we find something else fun or interesting. I do a lot of shopping here, Elvis and his dad are great. Its great that they take cards but they love it when you have cold hard cash. They work really hard and I’m glad something good has come out of that hideous apartment building.

One man’s junk is another man’s treasure. This is a huge warehouse full of potential finds. This is a hunt and peck place and you might have varying degrees of success on different days. I think there is a lot of great potential here for some DIY projects. This is a place where one must be able to see the big picture. I fell in love with an original pram here, and although I have no use for it, I could see how pretty it could become if I did. It was in not so good condition, but with some elbow grease, could be amazing.

Family-owned business, and they will cut you a deal if you stop by often. I’m always surprised to find exactly the random item I need for a project, or something I didn’t know I needed that turns out to be the perfect thing! Of my thrift store circuit, this is my favorite spot.

We came in here looking for wooden crates to build a bookshelf. They have a bunch of them sprinkled throughout the store, and we found some with cool markings and great character, some that were in great condition and others that needed a little TLC. The owner(I think he’s the owner because we’ve seen him there before) worked with us on a price, and we walked away very happy with what we found. I would go back again in a heartbeat because a.) great selection b.) owner and employees very willing to help but also let you alone while you browse c.) very reasonable prices.

If you love rooting through junk to find a cheap treasure, this is your spot. I adore it. It’s bigger than it appears from outside(Tardis, perhaps?) We scored two small tables for $ 30 that hubby will refinish. Cash is king here. Be prepared to bring your sanitizer and dig for treasure.

Wow, word gets out fast. I knew this place before they had the sign out front and sticker prices on stuff. They only took cash before too, I mean cash is king after all. They have old furniture, frames, kitchenware, suitcases, rugs, chairs, lamps, axes, everything. This is the kinda place you wanna go treasure hunting in cuz some of it is dirty, but once you find something, you gotta have it. The prices stay true to the store’s name too. Stuff is garage sale cheap, priced to sell. Don’t even hesitate to bargain either. Saving a dolla always makes me holla. Anyway, I love the European family that runs it. The old man is great. His wife is sweet and his son is there on the weekends; he’s got that rugged thing going on =d… I have been there enough times in the past to assume the old man works the weekdays and the son does it for shits and giggles(have you seen his car?) on the weekends while his old man is rummaging around or shooting the breeze outside. This is a sweet spot to explore and come back to cuz they always get new stuff. PS. For anyone that’s wondered what is under that tarp in the way back, it’s a Rolls Royce but he won’t sell it. Damnit, but it was nice to sit in!

I went to Good Deal Garage today and I met Elvis. OK, not the popular singer, but rather a handsome Balkan bargainer who had me All Shook Up over the fantastic finds hidden within the three solid walls of his family’s goodie-filled garage. They say Fools Rush In, but you’ll quickly Surrender to this shop, and That’s Alright. It looks quite small from the street. The name includes«Garage,» after all. It didn’t appear to be much larger than your average car-park. Suspicious Minds should cast aside their skepticism and take a look. It’s actually A Big Hunk o’ Love. The front area just gives you a tease and a taste of what awaits you inside the actual store. Like a true treasure huntin’ Hound Dog, I sniffed out deals too good to pass up. They carry ceramic tableware starting at $ 1. I found a giant navy blue coffee mug that says«Café Godiva» in gold lettering. It was all kinds of throwback fit for the Heartbreak Hotel or a personal collection of over-sized kitschy cups. I also came across a wonderful dresser. Its surface showed signs of a rough life In The Ghetto, but its Wooden Heart was beating strong. I Can’t Help Falling In Love with well built furniture. I inquired about the price of the dresser and Elvis said it wasn’t for sale yet because it needed more work. I thought, «Don’t Be Cruel. I’m not in this area that often, so It’s Now Or Never!» I convinced him that I could spruce it up easily and a few scrapes wouldn’t drive me away — I’m a Hard Headed Woman. It didn’t take Too Much arm twisting, because A Little Less Conversation in English and a little more Bosnian language did the trick(I really believe being bilingual is my Good Luck Charm). The piece was mine for $ 30! Elvis helped me out again by carrying the huge thing all the way from the middle of the store to the curb and loaded it into my car. He refused to let me lend a hand and got it all situated in the back of my Prius. I didn’t break a nail, strain my back or scuff up my Blue Suede Shoes. So while he may not be the King of Rock and Roll, he’s definitely the King of a Good Deal and Great Manners in my book.

I stumbled upon this place on my way to get some tacos on Clark St. They opened up a couple months ago. I just love the name, as it really is a garage, albeit it one that opens into a much larger room, and the eastern european owners told me they will make a deal on anything, don’t pay the marked price, bargain with them. some junky stuff but a lot of cool old basement type finds too
