Greg & his team are upfront & honest, and will under promise & over deliver. We dealt with two separate water seepage problems, and after our first contractor couldn’t fix the problem, GMS did. 5+++

We spent a lot of time and money working with contractors to try to fix a leak in our condo. After a couple bad storms, the water was still pouring in and after searching for specific water damage contractors I found GMS on Unilocal.I called and Greg was out the same day to assess the situation. He knew what the issue was and got me a quote within a couple days. It was a big job (huge sliding door needed all new flashing) but his team got it done right and we haven’t had any water since. They were courteous, clean and I would highly recommend they be your first call for any water damage issues.

I don’t leave Unilocal reviews unless it’s a must. Greg and his team are unbelievable. They were awesome, 5 stars in every sense of the word… Honest, fast, efficient, affordable, etc. I asked him for maintenance advice on two other minor jobs and he just did them quickly without asking.

Greg and Sven with GMS are a pleasure to work with. Greg came out the same day I called to give a repair estimate for a leaking sliding door and water damaged ceiling drywall below. He was confident in the cause of the leak and that he could fix it. He explained the issue and gave me several different cost options along with his recommended fix. I signed his emailed quote and they began work a few days later. Both Greg and Sven arrived on-​time and quickly got to work. They came back a second and third day to complete the work and arrived exactly when they said they would both times. They covered the work areas in plastic to minimize dust and they cleaned and vacuumed when done. While they were at my condo I asked Greg for a quote to repair a secondary smaller area of drywall damage unrelated to his initial quote. He took a look and said it wouldn’t take them long and they would take care of it no charge. These guys are honest, prompt, skilled, and professional. Highly recommended.

Greg and his team at General Moisture Solutions did a great job repairing some water damage to the ceiling of my master bath. I had called around other mold restoration outfits and they quoted me for opening up the ceiling, remedying the mold but not restoring the open ceiling. Greg and his team provided the total solution at a competitive rate. Not having to deal with multiple service providers to get this job done was a huge relief.
Also worth noting that he was highly responsive and checked on another area of the wall to confirm there wasn’t any damage there as well, so a comprehensive solution.
I will certainly use Greg and his team again and highly recommend him to others.

We had to have our entire basement redone: drain tiles, drywall removal and replacement, mold remediation, etc. Greg was thorough and professional. His crew completed the work in time specified.
We most appreciated Greg taking the time to consult with us on multiple occasions regarding the relatively major work that needed to be done in our basement to prevent future moisture issues. We had two other estimates done, and Greg offered the most competitive price with the most comprehensive project plan.

Where is the 6 star option? I even tried to 0.5 star trick by stroking to the right to get 5.5. I can’t wait to work again with Greg.
Project:
8 week, 2500 sq ft, high end town home renovation with Greg who worked in a General Contractor role. The property had been gutted and needed everything redoing. Three bathrooms needed to be redone entirely, flooring throughout the entire house changed (some hardwood some carpet), walls were moved and erected.
Working relationship:
Greg was the sixth contractor to come out and give me a quote. All of the other contractors wanted to measure, count and document everything as if the quote was heading into a spreadsheet somewhere. Greg gave a competitive quote without wanting much detail — which to be honest, at first made me pretty nervous. Fortunately I decided to go with it and Greg’s casual manner was what really made this project a pleasure. A couple of examples of great things that happened:
— I wanted extra rooms doing and Greg gave a very reasonable quote for these and did not complain
— Greg did not modify the price for additional «little things». An example of this would be installing appliances where it was not in the contract but Greg just took care of it anyway when they arrived. Nothing was ever a big deal. Another example of this was a burst pipe that became evident when we turned the water on. Greg simply took care of it including the wall repairs that were necessary.
— Greg offered great, cost saving advice throughout. He was aware of what I was looking to do with the property and helped optimize for that. The place would not have turned out as nice if I had not listened to his advise. He managed to recycle a vanity unit (no extra charge) from one of the bathrooms, he sourced a great discount on some cabinets for the kitchen, he even helped me pick out the carpet at a heavily discounted outlet, the list goes on. I am pretty sure that even if I had the time to manage this project myself I would not have been able to do it for the same price.
— Greg was able to find the perfect balance of autonomy. I am very busy during the week and have 0 time (literally zero minutes) to be away from work. As such for small to medium decisions I asked Greg to just call the shots. Throughout the project it became clear that he was making better decisions than I was. By the end of it I really had very little input (by choice) and Greg would only contact me for anything large like which colour granite. Unless you have a very specific picture in mind of what you want I would advise letting Greg run with it.
— Great communication all round. Greg and I would text mostly and use picture messages to make decisions on products. I don’t think I ever waited long for a text back or a call back.
— It is evident that Greg takes his projects with passion. It was clear that he cared how the finished product looked and how it all came together — this was not simply a case of checking off items on the quote list like other contractors do.
Quality of work:
A high quality finish for a high end home all round. The walls were in dire shape and are now immaculate. The house is clean after completion. I have nothing negative to say about quality of work, I could not find any signs of poor workmanship.

Every person I worked with was extremely professional, performed high quality work, provided great customer service and was reasonably priced. They also provide high quality service, and had excellent communication with us during our major renovation project.
I worked with Greg and he took took the time to explain the process, in detail. He went over all of the work that I was requesting and even went further to ask about other problems that he noticed. He did so in the spirit of doing the best job and making sure all of my goals of the project were met.
After my initial consultation, I promptly received a professional estimate and work began as expected and promise. The workers were all very efficient, considerate, and helpful to me during the time my house was a wreck! Greg kept me updated on all phases of the construction and was more than fair and reasonable with the pricing.
This company has a great team, with Greg being a great leader in the construction industry. This company is by far, the best one I have ever worked with and I have been doing real estate for 20 years. Greg and everyone in the company is honest, fair, reasonable, diligent, meticulous, and a pleasure to work with. This really is a first class construction company. I plan to work with them, and only them, again.

A good contractor is so hard to find, but we really lucked out when we contacted Greg at General Moisture Solutions.
2 years ago we purchased a new townhouse. Upon moving in, we were devastated to discover some water issues that were covered up by the prior owners and went undetected by our home inspector during the purchasing process. Every time it rained, we would have water leaks in various rooms throughout our home. Thus began a 2 year saga of hiring contractor after contractor who would offering up incorrect solutions, costing us thousands of dollars, and ultimately not fixing the problem. We tried everything including replacing and repitching the roof, recaulking windows, clearing drains, and sealing the exterior brick. We were at our wits end, along with everyone else in our townhouse association, most of whom were experiencing the same issues and frustration for even longer than us.
Just when we were ready to give up, we found Greg. Within 5 minutes of walking into our home, he correctly diagnosed the problem and offered up his solution. Given our contractor experience so far, we were only convinced once Greg told us that if his solution didn’t work, «your problem becomes my problem.» What contractor says that?!
Anyway, it’s been a month since Greg and his team completed work, and I’m ecstatic to say, our water problems are over! Just as I was beginning to think our home was simply defective, all it needed was the work of a knowledgable contractor.
We couldn’t be happier with the work that GMS did in our home. The crew was extremely pleasant and efficient. They tidied up every day promptly at 5pm. When mold was discovered in one of the walls, they immediately went to work doing mold remediation. Greg was there at least twice a day to check in with us and the workers to make sure everything was moving along according to plan. I would happily recommend him (and already have) to anyone looking for a contractor who stands behind his work!
I will say that he can sometimes be difficult to get ahold of, but don’t let that dissuade you. He is a busy guy for good reason.

Greg and his team did a great job for me and my fiancé — we must have met with 8 contractors both large and small companies and we are very happy with our decision. The job was done professionally, clean, and most importantly Greg is always available to answer our questions. If you are looking to solve a water problem in your basement these guys are reasonably priced and do quality work.

An absolutely fabulous experience from beginning to end. Greg and his crew did a great job for us for a great price. The work was very detailed, tidy, and thorough. Greg showed us everything he found when we opened floors and walls, explained to us what we were looking at, and walked us through his repair. Our building is now is better shape than it has ever been thanks to him. I very highly recommended them.

This was a very easy company to work with and they were very honest. The plumber who came out to my place thoroughly inspected all possible sources of the leak. In the end, he told me there was a simple solution to my problem and did not charge me for repairs I didn’t need. It’s nice to see some honest people in the business.

Greg came to my house to look for the source of an ongoing leak problem. After a short, cursory examination he said he knew the problemt. A few weeks later he emailed us an estimate for $ 1,400 to put in flashing under a balcony door. When I responded that I was willing to work with him but needed a written guaranty, I never heard back. Very suspicious and frustrating.

Buying a bank owned home has come with a myriad of problems. It has definitely taught me how to be savvy when selecting a construction professional. We had a leak in the basement which looked like it was coming from behind the drywall. I had 3 different companies come out to quote me on the job. General Moisture was not the cheapest nor the most expensive (All three were highly rated on Unilocal and Angie’s).We met with Greg and he knows his stuff. Of the 3, he was the only one that thoroughly explained what he thought the issue was and how they would attack it… Turns out he was 100% right. No one wants to cut through dry wall to find out they’re wrong! It turns out we had 4 foundation cracks causing the issue… One guy thought we needed drain tile, which we already have… Another said «we’ll fix the cracks, but you need to remove the drywall and replace it»…let’s just say we’re glad we went with General Moisture Solutions.
From the beginning to end Greg and his team did a wonderful job. Greg is a personable guy, who puts his customers first. When he came out to the job he never answered his cell phone while speaking to me, when others were calling him. His employee Chris came out to do the work. Chris is a pro and Greg made a great hire with this guy. He explained step by step on what was going to happen and what he was doing. He was conscientious and kept the area clean… He also took the time to answer any questions I had… After Chris finished up, I decided to leave the drywall off to test the leaks. We had that brief warm-​up, with rain and no leaks. I also ran the hose that day to make doubly sure we had no leaks. I called Greg to give him the good news and he was able to get his guys out the next day to replace the drywall. I asked them to double encapsulate the area to lessen the drywall dust… Without hesitation they encapsulated the area again and sealed up the HVAC returns. My painter is here today and he said the drywall replacement work looked exceptional… Greg and his team are professional, honest, hard working and dependable. Without hesitation, I would recommend his company for any leak problem you may have!

Greg came out to a property I own to examine a window that was leaking. I never got a chance to meet him as I could not make it that day, but he came back with a quote for $ 2200, suggesting that we basically replace the window, reframe the window box, and do a whole re-​do, I guess. I say «basically» and «I guess» because I never got a translated answer from him on what he was even proposing or why it needed to be done. After I got the quote via email, I asked him to call me. No response. I then wrote an email asking him to give me a more thorough explanation — was it a building issue? A window issue? What was the source? You know, this stuff kind of matters since it’s a condo and I need to know whether my personal insurance covers it or the HOA. I got an email response saying he would call me, and he never did.
Since I was getting nowhere with Greg, i called in 2 more contractors who each suggested a more practical approach. They pointed out a few exterior cracks in the building above the window, suggested we mortar these, and then see how it went before we took the next step. I told them both about the $ 2200 quote and both separately said that going that route was a terrible idea.
Greg may be a knowledgeable contractor and may have a great and valid reason why he quoted me $ 2200. Maybe the window needs exactly what he says. A lot of people on Unilocal have positive things to say, so I’m sure he doesn’t treat all his prospects like this. But since he is too busy to call me back we will never find out!

Greg and his team were great to work with. He is extremely responsive, detailed and fair. After a mishap with leaving a faucet on in our basement, Greg was able to get a team out the next day to do a full remediation of the water damage. At that time, we also had him take a look at some minor seepage issues that we’d seen with the heavy rains in the fall. Instead of a pushy approach we’d gotten from other contractors, Greg helped us evaluate our options and we came to the conclusion together to install drain tile in addition to refinishing the basement.
His team started during the holiday season and installed the drain tile, replaced damaged drywall and trim, painted and laid carpet in less than 3 weeks. The team was friendly and even fixed some other minor items around the house free of charge. During the job, Greg was constantly in touch, always quick to respond to phone calls and texts and personally visited nearly every day, despite having more than one job going. Since we were anxious to get the basement back, he was great about keeping us updated on progress and setting expectations.
At the conclusion of the work, Greg had a cleaning lady over to clean the basement and main floor, then walked through all the work that had been done to make sure it was satisfactory. He even offered to replace any sod that was damaged in our front yard due to the construction debris once spring comes.
I would definitely recommend Greg for any water issues or general contracting projects that you may have.

Greg came out to look at our problem again, but basically told us that unless we changed our initial review to a very positive one, then he would not give us a requote nor would he help us fix our downstairs. I wasn’t really willing to change my initial review without any actual work done to review, and was kind of upset that he refused to give us even a requote unless I changed my review since I thought that was very unprofessional, so we ended up getting it fixed by another contractor.
For professionalism reasons, I can’t recommend him. The fact that we didn’t hear back from him for awhile and then he tried to essentially blackmail us into changing our review is not what I would want from a contractor.

With all the rain this spring we discovered two leaks in the basement of the home we purchased about a year ago. They really aren’t anything substantial, but we decided to have them checked out just in case there was a quick and easy fix.
I missed the first appointment that we set up, I was out in the backyard and forgot to listen for my phone. Greg was willing to set up a return appointment. He came out last night and took a look around. He determined that the leaks won’t stop without major work… I might be able to fix the two leaking spots now, but it will probably just move and leak elsewhere.
He said if it wasn’t a big deal he wouldn’t recommend doing anything, if I was going to do something I should just go big or go home.
I really appreciated that I felt like I got his honest opinion. His honest opinion was not to do anything. That means no work for him. I appreciated him giving us the few options we had and offering his suggestion as to which one was the best option.

NO stars, Greg with GMS scheduled an appointment, no shows and no call. When reached after 4 attemps his statement, «I was too busy and up all night». No apology or anything.
I don’t care how affordable or good his work is, I will NEVER use or refer this company to anyone.

Greg is my hero! We just bought a house and one morning, poof: our bathroom ceiling was leaking. As a life long renter, I didn’t know what the hell to do, so I went to trusty old Unilocal,and found GMS. Greg came out 45 minutes later, and he pointed out that it was our flashing (our inspector warned us of this). His crew came out the next day and fixed the situation.
