Description

Specialties

100% Woman owed and operated! Long or short lists of «to-do“s.» Putting up blinds and curtains, assembling furniture, installing towel bars, etc. As well as larger projects, including kitchen and bath fixups, interior and exterior painting, minor electrical, minor plumbing, troubleshooting of all sorts, some appliance repair, and locks and doors. I live for fix up to sell lists, furnace filter swapouts, tricky lightbulb changing and pressing that button that makes the garbage disposal work again.

History

Established in 1997.

I have a background in technical theatre and museum exhibit installation. When that got dull, I moved into home improvement and now get to use all my fields of knowledge to solve problems around the house. It’s been great to be able to help my friends fix up new houses they’ve bought as well as spruce up an older home to sell. I also enjoy being able to educate the hordes of young condo owners out there on the complexities of preventative maintainance. What you don’t know can cost you a lot!

Meet the Business Owner

Sue J.

Business Owner

I came to Chicago to work as an intern at Steppenwolf Theatre. After a stint as Prop Master there, I free-lanced around the Chicago theatre community and then got a gig at the Chicago Historical Society, now called the History Museum. When grant money there dried up, I started helping friends fix up their places and was hooked. I studied some home inspection to bone up on all aspects of a home, so I can advise my clients on possible problems even if I’m not the one to fix it. Knowing all the components and their workings is essential to sound home maintainance.

«The go-to place for older homes, they have all the little widgits you need, even if you don’t know what it’s called. The employees know their stuff.»
