I ordered a beautiful door for my kitchen/​back door. They measured then remeasured and somehow got the casing size wrong by an inch I was given an option of rescheduling my installation which is a pain because I already took off work only to be told that I should’ve let them do the install leaving a one inch gap all around the door in Chicago in January and that I would only be offered them fulfilling my contract what a joke this is my fifth and last time doing business with Feldco
Still don’t know how long I’ll be waiting since we already waited eight weeks I was told it was the casing now it appears to be the door can’t wait to part ways!!!

Admittedly not an experience based on a purchase, but an experience nonetheless.
I called and left a message with a service. They were incompetent. They took 12 minutes and essentially got my name, number and e-​mail. I could get this information in 2 minutes. A rep called back (nice) and told me both home owners need to be present at the time of the quote. I firmly told her no. I’m busy, my wife is busy. ONE of us would be there. They were adamant. Seeing the other reviews, I understand why. They want a YES at the point of sale. They don’t want consumers who vet other options, compare prices, etc. What a ridiculous business. I didn’t read the reviews before I called. Sorry, there are so many bad reviews elsewhere, I am not sure why someone would use them (catchy TV jingle is likely).

Despite reading horror stories about Feldco, my experience has been nothing less than wonderful from start to finish. There were a couple of hiccups as far as times, but well worth it in the end. Here’s my story…
I bought a 1955 brick house last summer. My windows were as old as the house, 60 years… I called and had 3 free estimates from 3 different companies. I did my homework and read as many reviews as I could find, then talked to a handful of people; co-​workers and neighbors who have had windows installed. As far as pricing and window durability, all three companies were about the same. Feldco did offer a few better deals and much better financing. By choosing them, I am ultimately saving a few thousand dollars.
My salesman Jeff was very professional, knowledgeable, informative, and helpful –but not pushy! I respect that. I had an aggressive salesman before and wasn’t into his sales pitch. Jeff also wasn’t bad mouthing other companies and wasn’t trying to talk me into something I didn’t want or couldn’t afford. Since Feldco was my last estimate, I decided that night to use them for all of my windows. There’s a total of 15; half are oversized and one huge bay window.
Jeff took measurements, but sent another guy John to get the exact dimensions for customizing my windows. I had my consultation in mid April, had the measuring done a week later. I followed up with Feldco twice, about a time frame to expect the install. I was told 4 – 6 weeks which ended up being 7 weeks. I was told the job would be done in one day and spill over into the next morning. The job was almost complete in one day. Monday from 8am-​8pm for 14 windows. There was a problem with my living room bay window which caused a new set of contractors to come back that Saturday, instead of the next day Tuesday. Oh and after my windows were ready to go, 7 weeks, I got my installation appointment that week. I was happy it was quick; I was getting impatient.
Feldco uses subcontractors. Both sets of guys were great. The crew Monday was 4 amazing, hardworking, detail-​oriented men. They set up work stations in my front yard, put caution tape around the house, unloaded everything, put tarps down and plastic everywhere inside my house, then worked 12 hours. To remove my old windows and steel casings; there was broken glass. The guys cleaned up after themselves, inside and out. Each man had a task, and completed it with such ease. I don’t remember all of their names, but the man in charge was Mark. Another man came by with a truck and hauled away all old windows and casings. The Saturday crew was only 2 guys for my bay window. That took 4 hours. The subcontractors were Stanley and Paul; they also did a super admirable job even though Feldco changed the outside shape of my bay window. I wasn’t happy at first, but have gotten used to the new «octagon» look. The inside is gorgeous! (Mind you — the other 2 companies didn’t even want to touch my bay window because it was such a big, messy job…) Oh and the night before installation — I moved all furniture 1−2ft away from every window and covered most of it with plastic. So the guys had clear pathways to work…
Permits are required for almost everything I do to my house. Feldco pulled necessary permits from the village (funny because Brookfield did drive by asking for it…) Feldco took real good care of me. I love my new windows and new wooden frames! I wasn’t able to open the old windows before, my Nicor gas bills in winter were outrageously high, and my ComEd electric bills in summer were too high. I’ve only had my windows a few weeks now, but already notice a difference of temperature inside my home. I was told by Jeff and John (salesman and measuring guy) that my walls could be damaged at the time of installation. There was very little damage to my walls, and what was slightly damaged — the subcontractors fixed/​patched. I have to repaint my walls and stain the wooden casings anyway… But the finished product still looks amazing.
All in all, I am extremely happy with Feldco. I will recommend them to all of my family and friends. I have no issues and every window opens/​closes smoothly, locks properly, and fits tightly in place. They were installed great. There’s no gaps, no air coming through, no water from rain seeping in, etc. I have nothing but positive things to say about this company. There were a few hiccups with time and appointments but all was resolved, so I have no complaints. The Village of Brookfield had to come inspect everything and I passed (woohoo, now I can remove all stickers and clean my windows, heh).
I will use Feldco for any future projects, if need be. Also — I have a transferable lifetime warranty in case something does happen to one of my 15 new windows, but I’m pretty sure I’ll have these windows forever. I’ll keep you folks updated and here’s some photos to see the drastic changes! Thanks for reading :)

This was and is currently a terrible experience. I had a salesmen come by who I’ll keep nameless at the moment and he gave me the hard-​sell from the start. He went into his long spiel and wouldn’t let up. I tried to say I wanted to think about it and he had an answer for that, which was to lower the price. What it came down to was him telling me that if I paid him ½ then he could write it down as a ‘sale’ so he would get credit towards his end of year bonus accumulation. I was forced into a corner and outright said I don’t want to do anything because I’m not sure my realtor wanted me to fix anything at the house, just to get estimates (because I’m considering selling my home). He pressed me more and said that I would have my money back within days if I canceled within 3 days and he would get credit for the sale. I cancelled on March 20^th, the very next day, and it’s now April 6^th and I still don’t have my money returned to me. I called Feldco and they said it would be no more than 10 working days and it’s now 12. I text the salesmen and he said it would be a few more days longer when I suggested 3 days.
Avoid Feldco. You will be sat down and forced into a hardsale. This is a condition of duress and is a pathetic way to sell a product. The salesmen even said that my two windows wouldn’t be worth his time to come back again if we didn’t sign today. He said he would come down anyway but regardless he made the comment which also made me feel terrible.
I will never use this company and I could give a rat’s ass about them being drug free. Spare me your spiel. I will be contacting small claims court if I don’t have my money by Friday which will be 15 working days. I can’t believe I fell for this. Shame on Feldco.

Don’t care what you want to do for me now. Feldco could not install any of my windows correctly the first time, they came out a second time and still could not fix the problem. I do not want you within a mile of my house. You have screwed things up enough. Substandard installers, substandard product. I am glad I did not get the whole house done. Will be calling another company. Buh bye.

I had a service issue with Feldco but they handled it in a timely manner once it was presented to management. Generally it was a broken lock covered under warranty, but repair parts were not kept in stock so they were available in a timely manner.
Even though the issue should not have occurred in the first place, the solution provided was acceptable.

We have used this company for our rental condo few years back. I have to agree with most reviewers the quality of windows is sub par. The service is great but they have to improve the actual windows.
2 of the windows don’t lock properly/​And that’s just in 3 years.

Feldco is ran by a bunch of crooks. The installers only get paid 60 a window and so they feel the pressure to rush the job and the employees are treated poorly as well. We had 7 windows replaced 3 years ago and they all stink like mold. We have mold in our walks from the faulty window jams not draining water, due to the warping plastic jams. The crappy caulking job they did barely lasted a year which is also contributing to the mold.
Then last year we ordered special air conditioner windows last year in which they installed haphazardly not to mention the wrong ones were ordered at first. It took them 3 months to come out with the correct sashes. Now we have a full large window pane that has a chamber leak and is forging up on the inside. We’ve been calling Feldco and Jim Haffer our contact for months with no call back. The entire job Feldco was awarded as a whole for our building was over a 100 windows and you would think they would support them at that size of a job.
Buyer beware with this company as they are not out to serve just out to push product out the door and then leave the customer hanging.

live in Wheaton and received two estimates for the exact same door, storm door, and hardware. The local vendor, Advanced Windows and Siding, beat Feldco substantially. I was impressed with the quality sales presentation by Feldco, but come on guys, you are banking on the fact that the consumer isn’t going to get more than one estimate. When I say the doors are exact, I mean they are the same brand, everything.

Once the 5 year warranty period is over, you can forget about customer service. I had several windows replaced in 2007, now the hardware in the double-​hung tracks is breaking and they want to charge $ 49 to come out + $ 85 an hour for the service on their defective parts. The woman hung up on me when I asked to speak to a manager– delightful.

My wife and I recently got the front bay window replaced. Everyone we dealt with was very courteous and professional. From customer service, to the sales rep, the installing team and the inspector; we had a good experience altogether. The quality of the windows is a reason I chose to call on Feldco again. I have to say, that this is my second time purchasing windows from them. The first time I replaced twenty-​five windows or so on a property in the city. That investment has cut down on energy costs year round. I would definitely recommend and call on Feldco again for future repairs!

I’m kinda pissed Feldco and it’s not getting resolved. We spent over $ 20,000 replacing every window in our home. That was 30% off Feldco’s «retail» price (or so they told us) so we considered it a good deal. Well, the day after we signed the contract I got a flier in the mail advertising 40% off all Feldco windows. When I called about it, they promised me a credit for $ 1,000 on my next purchase. That was annoying, but unfortunately, just the start of the problems with Feldco.
When the windows were finally installed, we didn’t get the windows we paid for. And when we complained and asked Feldco to live up to the contract? They offered us a measly $ 300 to keep the wrong windows. Of course we said no, we want the right windows and now we’re in some drawn out negotiation and we STILL don’t have the stuff we paid for. They tried to offer us a few dollars off on doing our garage door but lo and behold, there is nothing «in their notes» about that $ 1,000 off our next project they promised us. Big surprise.
I do not recommend Feldo. The one good thing I will say is the sales guy we used, Jack, is a nice person. I don’t think any of this BS is personally his fault. But still, beware, Chicago.

We replaced 10 original windows on our bungalow about 9 years ago. I realize 9 years is a long time but we have 37 other windows in our 100 years old home that work just fine. Two of the Feldco windows don’t shut the crank out type, so we loose heat and air conditioning. One of the windows has a broken seal. We have called them out once while they were under warranty two others were fixed. In other words we have replaced 10 windows and in 9 years 5 have needed to be replaced.
That’s not saying much for Feldco.
Feldco certainly has deals but for 49.00 for a house call and 85.00 per hour to fix your Feldco windows why don’t they give me the windows for their $ 1.00 deal and keep a current customer happy.

I just waited 10 minutes to get a representative from Feldco on the line and when I did so I was told that since my soon to be ex-​husband would not be attending the visit to get a quote they could not make an appointment. I live in a large house in Lincoln Park with wood casement windows that have rotted. The replacement needs would be extensive and as a female professional (I am an attorney) I am appalled that even when I explained that I make a substantial income, that I solely am responsible for the household repairs, since his name is still on the deed that they couldn’t come out.
Not the kind of company I would ever deal with again, very sexist in their views, the soon to be ex is not even around.
Bad Bad Policy! I wonder if a male had contacted them if they would make sure that the wife was present??? I think not!!!
Very disappointing!

We had every window in our home installed by Feldco a few years ago. We are very happy with them except for one thing.
They won’t lock. We’ve called multiple times to see if someone could tell us what to do, and we’ve been told it will cost $ 75 for a technician to come out. We spent over $ 3000 on the windows, so it’s a little much to stomach.

Ok, I have to disagree with the majority on this one. My landlord just put new windows in our building. He used Feldco, obviously. We have 8 new windows. Everyone I dealt with was awesome. I was home when the installers came out and they were great, very professional, fast and cleaned up after themselves (which I appreciated). From what I understand they are also very affordable for replacement windows. One last thing, no more DRAFTS!
