Ethan James Salon is everything you would want a salon to be and more. It’s elegant and welcoming, and being greeted with a smile and a glass of wine is always a plus in my book! I had Linda do my hair and color and she was amazing! She gave me suggestions what would look best with my complexion and face type and the results were fantastic! You know the cut was done right when it still looks great months after the appointment and I still get compliments!!! Will absolutely be back again and again! Highly recommend Ethan James Salon to anyone looking for an anmazing hair professional. You won’t be disappointed!

This Linda girl cuts amazing hair… My hair style used to be ugly and unmanageable and she helped give me a creative idea for it. I used to always wear a hat but now thanks to Linda and Ethan James im not afraid to style up my hair and go out on the town.

I usually cut my own hair at home with a shaver because I never like how my hair turns out when other people cut it. But Hannah was awesome and for once gave me a haircut I was thoroughly happy with. I’ll definitely go back.

Linda gave me the best color and cut I have ever had, and at my age that says volumes! I am hooked!

I’ve seen the owner Linda well before the opening of her business. Was able to stop by last week for a much needed haircut. As usual she never disappoints. If you need to look your best (and who doesn’t) then I highly recommend a visit.

I have been getting my hair cut and highlighted from Hannah for the past 5 years and my husband has been getting his hair cut by Hannah for the past 2 years. The salon décor is glamorous with a chandelier, a mosaic tiled dye bar, and a large framed picture of Audrey Hepburn. The salon is always calm and relaxing.
Hannah is an awesome stylist. I get my hair highlighted and cut every 2 – 3 months. Hannah does a great job of getting close to the roots, which allows me to go longer between cuts. Hannah also listens to me when I suggest a style change and provides thoughtful feedback and suggestions. After we’re done, Hannah asks my opinion of the cut/​style and adjusts anything that I ask for. Hannah also often leaves me with really cute styles that make me want to go out!
But beyond the awesome service received at Ethan James, I have to comment on their philanthropy. Linda, Hannah and Kaitlin are all great people that give back to the community. They’ve done events to cut hair for women in need and have done clothing drives. The team has big hearts and it makes us (my husband and I) feel good to be able to support them.

I’ve been going to Ethan James Salon for almost three years now, which is the longest I’ve ever stayed with one hair stylist in the city. I had used Sine Qua Non for a couple of years, but I found that over time my stylist was just putting in foils or doing the first few steps of my color process, and then a student would take over. I understand that they are a teaching salon, but I didn’t like paying a ton of money to not have a professional doing my hair the entire time.
I’ve absolutely loved having Kaitlin highlight and cut my hair these past few years. I’ve gone red and then back to blonde with her, as well as chopped my hair chin-​length and grown it back out. Through it all she’s been great and I’ve always loved the result. And the one time my color didn’t turn out as planned, she fixed it right away. She’s with me the entire time; meaning, I’m not passed off to a student. She’s also never had other clients at the same time as me, which is something I’ve experienced many times in Chicago.
Kaitlin is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, and I look forward to chatting with her when I get my hair done. I’ll be having her do my hair and make-​up for my upcoming wedding, and I’m so glad that she’ll be part of my day.
The salon is clean and pretty and very relaxed. The other stylists that work there are very friendly and it’s a laid-​back atmosphere. I also like that I can make an appointment online, and it actually works!
In brief, I’ve had a very positive experience working with Kaitlin at EJS, and I’d highly recommend this salon. It’s the best salon I’ve been to in Chicago for an overall experience and value.

When I read about women who are thinking about changing stylists because they feel their stylist is in a rut and won’t change, I thank my stars for Linda. She has been doing my cut and color for what seems to be forever. However, it certainly doesn’t feel like «FOREVER» because Linda is incredibly creative and intuitive about her clients’ needs and wants. I trust her because she is honest with me about what looks good (let’s face it, we can’t pull off every style we fall in love with on the red carpet). She knows exactly how far I’m willing to push things and respects that. I have had incredibly short and fairly long hair during the time Linda has cut/​styled my hair. She managed the grow out phase so it looked styled and flattering.
No matter how terrible my mood or how high my stress level is when I come through the door, I always leave feeling rejuvenated and gorgeous (even during my pregnancy!). Everyone on staff is incredibly positive and collaborative so there is a great energy. It’s always a great experience and I look forward to my appointments.

I’ve been coming to Ethan James Salon since it opened and have never had a more amazing experience at a salon! Linda is a perfectionist and will always knows the exact cut and color that fits YOU best. They recently offered eyelash extensions and I am in love! One by one Linda makes each eyelash look amazing — no need for mascara anymore! This salon is so comfortable and relaxing, exactly what you’re looking for while getting pampered. I promise if you come here one time you’ll continue to come back :)

Ethan James is a great salon in Chicago! Hannah cut my hair for years and she’s amazing! I just moved to Durham, NC and got a haircut yesterday that was nothing in comparison. Linda Rocks! I can not say enough good things about Linda and her salon. In the past I have never been loyal to any one that cut my hair… until now. Linda is a genius with the scissors and my hair always looks fab and grows out beautifully. The entire staff is great and the salon itself is beautiful. They just started doing eyelash extensions and have seen the amazing job they do, can’t wait for mine! If you are looking for an expert cut or color, look no further you wont be disappointed!

I love Ethan James Salon and Linda is the best. I am low maintenance with my hair and Linda always understands exactly what I am looking for, even if I don’t know! I have had basic cuts, color and updos for two weddings, including my own. Linda is a perfectionist and does high quality work, my cuts and color always grow out well without constant upkeep. I am usually able to get an appointment promptly and have even brought friends in last minute with success. The salon is beautiful and I never mind waiting in the glam lounge area with a glass of wine and a great magazine. I highly recommend this place. I have also witnessed Linda cutting children’s hair (the one I saw was specifically for Locks for Love). Linda was sweet and had no problem working with the little girl.

My one stop shop for all things beautiful. I love the vibe of the salon, the adorable staff, and the quality of the services. Definitely high brow quality without the high brow attitude. I’ve had cuts, color, and eyelash extensions done and will be back again and again!

I came here yesterday to redeem my giltcity coupon. I was a little early for my appointment at 11am and Hannah who was working both as my stylist and as the receptionist was super friendly and sweet. She offered me something to drink right off the bat. Through our conversation I was happy to discover that she is not only a genuine person but that she cares wholehearted about other people.
The lavender treatment made my hair super soft throughout the day and the shampoo and product that they use makes my hair smell so nice. But most of all through this whole appointment I really appreciated that Hannah had asked me what I wanted to do with my hair (I had some extremely long hair!) and gave me suggestions on the length. I came in wanting something drastic and left with something just like what I wanted but something very practical as well.
10+ inches lighter I left super happy that I had made this appointment and will definitely be back. This has honestly been one of the best haircuts in the history of haircuts that I’ve had in my course of 23 years and I’ve had some really bad ones.

I go to Hannah for haircuts and all I can say is that I’m so happy I found her! Too many people in the world do not know how to cut curly hair, even though curly hair is quite common. I have also endured more than my fair share of awful attempts at layers. Hannah does an amazing job with both.
I also have scalp psoriasis and when it is at its worst, I find myself being very self-​conscious. Hannah has never made me feel nervous or anxious and has treated it as such a «non-​issue» and for that I am eternally thankful.
In addition to that, she is a great conversationalist and makes sure I’m very happy with the finished product before leaving the salon.
The rest of the staff here is also super friendly and the salon itself is lovely.

I’ve had long hair for a few years now. Recently a lot of it fell out due to stress and I it needed to be cut much shorter then I am used to.
I saw this salon on Gilt City. They had an offer for $ 39 that included

My appointment was for 4:15, but someone from the salon called me to tell me they were a bit behind schedule and if I could come in at 4:30 instead, which was fine with me.
I walked in around 4:20 for my 4:30 appointment and I spoke to the lady at the counter who was nice and offered me something to drink. The interior was nice & well decorated.
I guess the client my stylist, Hannah, had before me took even longer then expected so she didn’t get to me until 4:55, but luckily I wasn’t in a hurry that day. I was really nervous but Hannah was really very nice and I wasn’t sure how much to cut my hair or what exactly to do with it, but she asked me a few questions and we settled on a style. She was really knowledgeable and a good conversationalist which was great since I was a little nervous about going short & it put me at ease. The scalp massage was great & much needed. She really took her time putting in the layers and did a fantastic job. Afterwards she gave me a blow out which I’ve never had before but I didn’t have to do my hair before going out that night which was great. All in all I was very happy with the results.

I had bought a deal on
for 3 no chip manis for $ 45, great deal or so I thought.
So the first time I came here, my nails bubbled and peeled. They offered to give me a free one, however thats not the point. The point is that I came here expecting a service that I didnt receive. And its time that I dont like wasting either.
So again, I call to get in. I had an apptmt for Friday (today) for a no chip mani. They called me at about 6PM Thursday night trying to change the time. I called them back at about 8PM and Liz (I am assuming the owner) told me that Maria (the manicurist) quit yesterday.
On her original voicemail, she stated that they could do it at 1PM on Friday, but when I talked to her she was clearly pissed off. However, I thought it was unprofessional to display that to me. Listen, I dont care what is going on, I just want my nails done. Then she says that she is still waiting for the new manicurist to call her back. I finally just said, well what do you want me to do? She was clearly frazzled, but again, should not display this to the customer. We decided that I would come in at 1PM for a mani and she would call if she didnt hear from the lady.
Well, 5 minutes go by and I get a call from her. Basically just saying she was going to refund my money. Which, I guess was nice, however I had to go in to get it. Again, more time wasted on this place. Not to mention, it left me on a Friday with having to make a last minute apptmt somewhere else for a no chip mani. Not the end of the world, but its the point.
Plus, I really didnt like the way she talked to me on the phone. It was almost snippy like. Hey, listen, I didnt make Maria quit. I am just trying to give you business.
Went in today, got my $. No apology or smile from Liz. Thanks. At least I got my money back which is why I didnt give her 1 star for her crappy attitude.
