Just a strange experience today. It’s Dunkin’ Donuts, so I’m not expecting any extra-special treatment or anything. I go in, order two breakfast sandwiches and it’s $ 8 and some change and I think, man, a little more expensive than I thought but whatever, that’s what I ordered. The order comes out and it is one sandwich. So, I tell them and the woman mutters something about one sandwich not having bacon and walks off… doesn’t seem to make sense that you only made one anyways, but mistakes happen and I don’t really care. I just wait. While I’m waiting, they have an electronic menu that rotates ads. One of them says any two sandwiches for $ 5 after 11 am. It’s after 11 am. So, when the woman comes back with the correct order, I start to ask about it and she says«I didn’t take your order» throws her hands up like I’m trying to hand her something disgusting and walks away… OK. The manager(I think) person hears this and walks over and I tell her. She asks for a receipt, which I don’t have, so I just point to the order you can still see on their electronic order board. She goes to the back. She comes back with the change and a receipt and the only thing she says is «you should tell the cashier when you make your order next time.» I tell her, I just saw it on the sign and so I couldn’t have done that because I didn’t know. She is already walking to the back though and isn’t listening… OK. It’s not the end of the world, so I just leave, but seriously? You should probably hire employees that at least fake that they aren’t annoyed as hell to have to do their job. I get it, I’ve worked everything from fast food to janitorial service to dish-washing. You aren’t making enough to give red carpet service, but anyone doing a job should at least attempt to do it correctly and not act like customers who are overcharged are putting you out by requesting you not rip them off.

My first time getting coffee in a Dunkin Donuts in Chicago. I see everyone drinking it so I’m thinking that I must be missing out on something. I was wrong. I don’t know who she was but I walk in and ask if I can get a shot of espresso in a hot chocolate(which is a ridiculous request, I know). She says sure and walks to the back. I change my mind and ask if I can just get a medium coffee. She starts giving me shit about how she already started the espresso and how she asked me if I needed time to make up my mind. I just stood there dumbfounded. I’ve never been talked to like this from somebody behind the counter. She plops the coffee on the counter and gives me my total. As I’m walking out, she comes back out and apologizes for giving me attitude and says she’s had a really bad night. I said it was fine and left. I didn’t feel like telling her off because it was too early and I didn’t feel like stopping to her level. I don’t care if you’ve had the worst night or the best night of your life. Never let your attitude effect your service because it might keep people from coming back. I am a barista myself. I wouldn’t give her credit enough to say that we have the same job but we both make coffee or whatever they wanna call the sludge she dumped into the cup I have. Never coming back.
