In a City with endless skin care options, I am so thankful that I found Chrissie. (This is my first Unilocal review, because this is the first time I’ve felt compelled enough to write a review). Chrissie has changed the way my skin looks and how I take of my skin. She is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and her personalized treatments are wonderful. She uses great products and has the same for sale, but I have never once felt pressured to buy anything. From my first treatment, I have felt comfortable and confident that she would be able to treat my skin effectively.

Chrissie is wonderful. She customizes her treatments to suit each person. My skin looks better and better every time I go to see her. I enjoy my monthly visits.

Chrissie is phenomenal. I completely and wholeheartedly agree with reviewer Pat D.‘s list of reasons that Chrissie is so great. She is undeniably passionate about the science of skin care, and she goes above and beyond to teach me about my skin, how to care for it, and why she chooses specific treatments for me.
I am a professional makeup artist, so I am able to use and apply all of this new knowledge to my job, and knowing this, Chrissie often shares information with me that will be beneficial to my work. She answers my questions thoroughly and precisely, in a way that clearly demonstrates her commitment to quality. This woman is passionate and utterly dedicated to what she does, and I am lucky to have found her!
I am a straight shooter so I love her direct and honest approach. She analyzes my skin and explains everything that she sees, and can tell me why I had a breakout, or what caused a discoloration. I feel completely at ease under her care, and best of all — the results speak volumes. My skin improves both immediately (post treatment glowing and softness) and gradually (improvement over time by following her customized regimen). I cannot say enough good things about her. If you are looking for the best and most effective skin care in Chicago, Chrissie is the one.

My wife recently went to DermaSpa for a facial. She loved it, her skin’s glowing and her face looks a lot more nourished (she was suffering from dry, flaky skin). She had some redness on the face after the appointment but that happens to her during facial treatments, her skin is pretty sensitive. (In a few hours the redness subsided). She was happy with Chrissie and looks forward to returning, she is also investing in quality products for the ingredients she should be using for her skin. Overall she was happy and satisfied. She had a lifebooker deal and she found the online booking system helpful.

I wish I knew enough superlative adjectives to write a proper review about Chrissie at DermaSpa.
I wish I could add more than 5 stars.
And I wish I had a time machine to show you a selfie of me before I started seeing her. That alone would have you racing to her door. The transformation is phenominal. Really
My skin was NOT my best feature. The acne scars of my youth now were being overrun by wrinkles and I had redness and fine veins around my nose. My overall complexion was coarse and large-​pored.
I started seeing Chrissie 2 years ago, and never plan to stop. Here’s why:
1. She’s a dedicated scientist to the art of skincare. When I arrive she frequently has her laptop open, learning the latest methodology, researching new products and machinery. She speaks with enthusiasm as well as her knowledgeableness and I really appreciate that she’s a pro, not a bored employee.
2. She shares this knowledge with me. She researches what would be a good method to try on my skin and we discuss it before she starts. I trust her implicitly, but so appreciate that she explains everything first and asks for my vote.
3. She’s gentle, soothing, relaxing, careful, generous and as a bonus just a lovely person — I so look forward to my treatments!
4. I feel she really cares. Sometimes we talk or text between treatments, as she wants to know how my skin is reacting before I come in again. Bet you never had a technician do that before!
5. Finally, my face speaks for itself. The scars and wrinkles are waaay diminished, my skin is smoother and softer. And yesterday someone actually asked me *How do you keep your skin so beautiful? * ME!!!
So I’m telling the world.

Chrissie is a rare breed in the business. I’ve struggled with skin issues on and off for so many years. She’s kind, funny, and insanely knowledgeable about skin. Ask her questions to get more informed about how you can better care for your skin and you’ll see what I mean. She doesn’t sugar coat things, she gives you straight up, real advice on how to manage conditions including acne, hormonal conditions, dryness, etc. I can honestly say that the knowledge and advice I picked up from her have been such valuable life tools to me. I continue to hone and tweak what works for me but now I see a world of difference in my skin. Thank you Chrissie for opening up your own business and offering such valuable services to those of us who really need and appreciate it!

I bought a lifebooker loot for facial. Chrissie seems very knowledgeable about the products she uses and give valuable advice.
Pros.: 1. She explains what she does during facial as well as how each product works.
2. She didn’t push to buy any of the products she uses, but explained which ingredients I should incorporate in my daily routine.
3. After the appointment she wrought down how my daily routine should look like, which I really appreciate, cause if u just say it, I am going to forget it in 5 minutes.
Cons: I would like during facial to focus more on extractions to get all the congestion out, which I understand is hard to do in this business, where the time managment is very important.
Overall, very good experience, I will come back!

I’ve been meaning to post an update on here for awhile… I continued to see Chrissie for several months up until our recent move to the burbs. My skin had never looked or felt SO good! I love the products she uses/​recommends and even though I can’t make it into the city to see her (I MISS HER SO MUCH!), I still use the products she recommended for my skin. Although I haven’t seen her in awhile, my skin is still looking good and she really helped to get me over the horrible skin slump that I was suck in. Thanks Chrissie!

I am a pretty seasoned groupon/​living social/​youswoop user, and have found some really wonderful places who I continue to be a patron at beyond the coupon stage because I loved their services and customer service. I found a great esthetician in the city that way. I hate to say it, but this was not the case with SpaDerma.
I bought a youswoop for 3 microdermabrasions for $ 99. Great deal. I had been wanting to try it and the girl I go to for facials doesn’t do them. I think SpaDerma had maybe flooded the market a little bit with the coupons because when I went to make an appointment she was pretty booked up. I made my first two appointments online (which was really convenient).
I had to make them weeks out, so when my 1^st appointment came along, I had made other plans. I admit, I was a no-​call, no show. When making the appointments, there is a $ 50 no show fee. However, in my experience when you pre-​pay with a youswoop/​groupon, you generally just sacrifice that coupon (especially since the value of each microdermabrasion is $ 33). Why would I be charged $ 50 when the value of my appointment was almost $ 20 less than that?
I was never charged a no-​show fee, so I assumed that 1 of my 3 microdermabrasions was simply a loss.
Come time for my next appointment, Chrissie has a family emergency. When I tried to reschedule, she gave me about three different options (none of which worked). So I waited a little bit until something opened up online. I went ahead and scheduled my 2^nd and 3^rd appointments.
Previous reviewer was correct– there is a very «abandoned building» vibe to the place. The door was broken when I arrived, so a girl had to open it from the inside. This girl turned out to be Chrissie, though she never introduced herself or smiled at me. She just walked up the stairs, I followed, then she handed me a paper to fill out The room she rents out for her business is nicely decorated, however it’s really bright. I’m not one to think that facials are relaxing, but this room made me anxious. Luckily, the spa table she uses is probably the best one I’ve ever laid on.
Her manner was… direct. My skin isn’t terrible. Maybe a little dry, a little over-​exfoliated, but she made me feel like I was awful to my skin. I definitely recall touching my cheek to show her where I felt like I’d been breaking out, and she replied with «You can make things worse by touching your face… just like you just did.» I just didn’t feel like she was being friendly. The entire time I laid there, I was just thinking that I didn’t want to be there.
So, after that experience, I chose not to come in for my last appointment assuming that, like the other time, I would just be sacrificing my final pre-​paid visit. She charges my credit card (which is used to hold the appointment) $ 50. I emailed her to let her know I would rather just sacrifice the youswoop certificate. She explains that the first time she didn’t charge me $ 50 as a courtesy.
I don’t think that you should set a precedent of using the youswoop in lieu of the $ 50, then turn around two months later and do something else. On top of the fact that the $ 50 far exceeds the cost of the visit itself.
Other reviewers seem to love her, so maybe she was having an off day while I was there. But the customer service portion of her business makes me absolutely not want to go back.
Needless to say, I not only got charged $ 50, but she also got the $ 99 for my pre-​paid visits ANNNNND I don’t feel comfortable enough with her to show up for my last visit anyways.

Ah, so I was extremely excited to go and check out Chrissie. I had gotten a fantastic deal on
First, I have to say that I really liked that Chrissie had online booking. Its so convenient and easy.
Due to a personal issue, my first appointment was cancelled. Chrissie sent out an email about it about two days ahead of time and said there would be a follow up email with reschedule times. I never received a follow up, however I had already had a second appointment scheduled because I had purchased 3 facials.
When I arrived, it was a pretty standard facial set up. She had me fill out a form regarding my skin and daily regimen. While I was filling out the form, Chrissie kept asking me about my skin and regimen so I felt kind of rushed. I couldnt read, write and answer her back all at the same time.
The facial itself wasnt really relaxing BUT I was totally willing to give up ambiance for fantastic looking skin. She was using lots of tools on my face, the lighting was really bright (even with eye pads), and her hands were extremely cold.
I did have a lot of congestion on my chin so she really focused on that area. After, my skin definitely cleared up significantly so that was really good…
So why only 2 stars? Well, when I got home, I noticed about an inch scratch on my cheek. I called Chrissie about it and took a photo and emailed it to her. She then stated that the scratch was there prior to the start of the facial. Now, I have never had anything like this happen to me. I get facials all of the time. I was appalled that she said that it was there at the start. Not to mention, if it was there at the start, dont you think she would have asked about it or taken extra care around the area? Nothing was mentioned. I really did not like that… at all. She did refund my money because I was not comfortable going back to her after that.
After about a week of neosporin, the scratch is almost gone.
I had a bad experience and will not be going back.

Highly recommended! I went to Chrissie for my first ever facial. I went in thinking that not much would change after just one visit. Let me tell you — my skin has never looked this good EVER! I’ve been struggling with acne my whole life. Tried various prescriptions (oral and topical), ProActiv, all that stuff. Nothing worked as well as the custom facial Chrissie provided. The number of break-​outs I had was significantly reduced for weeks. Chrissie is very knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely continue to come back!

I’ve had several facials and my facial at DermaSpa was hands down the best facial I have ever had. Chrissie is amazing! It felt like an hour massage on my face which I enjoyed and was sad to see end. My skin felt so wonderful when I left. I love that she had products available to offer but didn’t push them on me. I will be back for another facial soon!

I’ve only had 2 different facial estheticians in my life. And after my appointment here I truly appreciate my old one a lot more.
Pros: Chrissie has very soft and gentle hands — they help you relax. She has sterilizer in her office and professional tools. She does give good advice about your skin.
Cons:
My skin doesn’t have any major problems but I can tell that it doesn’t look better at all, it’s very dry despite the products that she used.
I’m used to getting the product applied to my face, neck and décolleté with a little massage to help me relax. Not the case here (the décolleté area had something applied to it, but it was minor, not throughout the whole procedure). I’d say she didn’t clear my area of concern to the best of her ability. After my appointment my skin actually didn’t look a bit better — just shone with cremes, not a natural healthy glow.
Good thing I bought it with a coupon, not a full price.

I cannot say how much I love this place.
I started breaking out in my early twenties, in my teen years my skin was prefect! Needless to say, I have had an extremely difficult time finding solutions. I have been to dermatologist after dermatologist looking for a solution. Every time they would have me try different medications, different creams but nothing was working. Not to mention once you are over a certain age some insurance companies won’t cover your medications! I tired so many over the counter products, every solution advertised on TV, nothing worked.
I finally have found my solution. Chrissie actually spend time with you, getting to know your lifestyle and skin care routine and makes suggestions. My skin was looking 100% right after my first appointment and it just keeps better. She is so knowledgeable. I am so happy I went!

I also purchased a deal through Lifebooker ($ 79 for 3 facials). Chrissie uses medical grade products, I forgot what it was called, but it is not available for retail sales. The buildings looks a bit abandoned, but once you get to the 4^th floor, just tell the receptionist you have an appointment and Chrissy comes out to greet you. My first facial went well; the steam machine is very gentle. My favorite part was when she put all these vitamins (Vitamin C and A) on my face. It felt like a truly customized facial. I haven’t had a facial in a while because the big salons tend to push their products on to you. Not here.
I wanted a smoother complexion and to deal with some minor acne scarring. Chrissie suggested that we use the rest of my credits towards micro-​dermabrasion, which is the same price as a facial. I am very happy with the micro-​dermabrasion. She went over my face several times. She even did some light extractions and put a chemical peel solution on my sun spot.

I had a great experience for my microdermabrasion this weekend. I had purchased a Living Social coupon (for just $ 35!) and was able to get in the very same week I bought it and on a Saturday (score for us 9 – 5’ers!). As other reviews have said, the office is in a bit of a labyrinth so I was happy when Chrissy came to the lobby to direct me. She led me to her office/​facial area and got changed from bottom– up in a robe. It was clean, cozy and the surroundings were relaxing (nice music). She started with a questionnaire and then asked a few more questions to get to know my skin type and problem areas. During the microderm she gave me tips and explained with detail what she was doing and why my skin was acting the way it was. It felt like she was really customizing the experience to tailor what my face needed with serums, lotions and extra microdermabrasion on my problem areas. At the end, I did end up buying her face wash but she didn’t pressure me into buying more. She really does know her stuff and I plan on coming back regularly… and hopefully with some more coupons. I just bought the Unilocal deal of $ 50 for $ 75 for both myself and my boyfriend so I’ll definitely be back in the next couple weeks

I haven’t been taking care of my skin and was in need of major help. There was a fabulous offer from
for chemical peels and microdermabraions. I bought the offers for DermaSpa and it was the best purchase I made! Chrissie is very professional and made me feel at ease. There was no waiting and she took me right away when I came in. Chrissie explained everything she was doing while I got a microdermabrasion and chemical peel. She made me feel like she truly cared about my concerns and what my goals were. Before we started Chrissie asked me to fill out an information sheet about my skin care history, as well as my expectations for the visit with her. Chrissie took the time to talk to me about the actual process and made me feel like she really cared about my skin care needs. I have never had this kind of treatment before. I really appreciated that!
When she was done I looked in the mirror and was totally amazed how wonderful my skin looked. My skin was glowing and looked so fresh and clean looking. I was so totally amazed! After-​wards I went to get my hair done at a salon I’ve gone to for many years. My stylist asked me what did I do to myself because I looked so fabulous! Wow, I felt so good – thanks to the wonderful job Chrissie did! She’s a keeper and I have my appointments already set up! I can’t wait!
She didn’t push any products. I’m the one that spoke to her about products and told her I was confused. There are so many different products out there. She told me to bring in all the products I have and she would explain to me what I needed and what I didn’t. I have at least 25 different products from several different companies. Wasted a lot of money because I didn’t understand what I needed for my skin type and the anti-​aging process. She went over everything and explained to me what I needed and what I didn’t. She really took the time to teach me about the correct products to use as I was so uneducated about the anti aging products out there.
To top things off after I signed up for her newsletter I was pleasantly surprised with a coupon for a facial. I’m looking forward to having that done as I never had one before.
Chrissie is very dedicated about her work. She really cares and aims to please. I give a 5 star rating all around! I can’t say enough good things my fellow UnilocalTERS about Chrissie and DermaSpa!!!
Last thing I want to share is that parking is no problem. It’s street parking and I’ve never had a problem finding a spot. Can’t get much better than this!

i was really, really pleased with chrissie and DermaSpa! it had been forever since my last facial treatment — i’m talking over 12 years ago. my face is super oily and prone to breakouts. i was fed up with re-​living my childhood (no i’m not gross looking!) so it was time to take care of shit.

), the best beauty, groupon-​esque website alive. there was a special for $ 34. i couldn’t pass it up. i signed up for the «acne treatment». yes, i’m 13. anyway, this place wasn’t far from where i work on wednesdays, so i walked there. it’s one of those weird buildings where there are a ton of businesses on one floor. no biggie, though. she met me at the front as we walked through the labyrinth to get to her office. it’s a cute, relaxing little space with a desk area and then a table with all your facial needs. i filled out a sheet as we talked about my skin and shot the shit about other things. thing is, chrissie is super laid-​back and personable, so we got along just great.
after changing into a towel dress thing, we got started. she told me exactly what was up with my skin and told me what she was going to be doing, step by step. i asked about a billion questions and she pretty much had a billion answers for me. super, super helpful on top of being really cool and nice. i must add that what i got wasn’t technically just the standard acne treatment — she was doing whatever was best for my skin — so it was more custom than standardized. i couldn’t tell you what she put on my face bc there were so many things (vit A, C, salicylic acid, etc). but the results spoke for itself. my face was so smooth and shiny and healthy looking. it felt great. all the dead skin (which was probably clogging up my pores) were no longer. she advised me on what to use and my daily/​weekly regimen.
overall, she was awesome. i am definitely going back and recommending her to my friends and family. next, microderm abrasion!

DermaSpa is awesome! Actually, Chrissie is amazing ! I received a facial and microdermabrasion and my skin looked fab just hours after. I’m a model and skin is so important in my world or anyone’s world. If you need a great facial or microdermabrasion, chemical peel or whatever to jazz up your skin this is your place. Also, she is quite reasonable with $prices. It’s a bang for your buck! lol
