The only thing this place is good for is a laugh. It’s like the Ed Debevics of wine shops. The owner is a mean, crazy, awful person. If you want to be treated in an offensive & rude manner go here! GIVE YOUR MONEY TO ANYONE ELSE. TIME FOR THIS PLACE TO GO OUT OF BUSINESS!

Negative 4 stars. Spare yourself the negative vibes when entering. Walked in excited w the selection, left thanking myself not to make a contribution to their bottom line. Owner is mental.

Owner is a full-​on psycho. I went in alone on a Sunday morning, ordered a sandwich, and sat for 10 minutes while the owner made it. While sitting, I looked the place up on Unilocal.He is just an odd, odd man – I was scared to leave while the sandwich was being made, fearing he’d follow me based on other Unilocal reviews. He began asking me a million questions, all of which I answer conversationally and nicely. An older gentlemen came in to order some curry chicken salad while I was there, the owner looked at me and said «look at this fucking idiot,» then proceeded to berate the older man. I threw $ 10 in cash and left right when my sandwich came out, I’ve never been more uncomfortable in a restaurant by myself. Strongly advise to take your business elsewhere.

I used to love this place– great food, quality ingredients, nice people. Unfortunately all this guy cares about is making money with the margins he makes on his alcohol. He has replaced most of the quality items here (deli meats, pasta, salads, dinner items) with 2-​liter sodas, bottles of alcohol, and boxes of crackers. Based on my most recent experience I will never be coming back again and advise everyone else to do the same. It will only be a matter of time until he stops serving food altogether and its just a liquor store. Good riddance.

The owner here is insane. He rushed my wife and I out of the store after we couldn’t settle on a bottle of wine quick enough for him. After reading other reviews this appears to be a common occurrence to the point where it’s almost entertaining. If you are looking for some cheap entertainment stop in and browse for 10 minutes, otherwise take your business elsewhere.

This guy overcharged my friend and I by 10−20%. This is ridiculous. He also talks a lot to you and tries to sell more alcohol. Just a poor experience overall

I went in here to ask for a recommendation on non-​alcoholic beverages. In response the server was rude and insulting.
The wine prices also looked marked up. I would not recommend this place.

Decided to give this place a second shot. While the owner was not rude to me he was to others. I don’t think that flicking people off and rushing them out of the store is a cultural thing, as one recent review defends his behavior.
The sandwich was ok — nothing to write home about. Even if it had been the best meal in the world, the abuse is not worth the purchase.
The owner should remodel the place as it seems he is more interested in selling alcohol than food.

Hands down one of the worst experiences I have ever had! I used to frequent this place when I lived next door. It looks like the ownership may have changed. I walked by with my family and we decided to drop in to check out their current menu. We were inside for under a minute… just didn’t see anything that caught our eye at the time. We said thanks and as we walked out the gentleman behind the counter yelled and harassed my wife and two cousins for not buying anything. My cousins are 19 and 20 visiting from out of town. They had no idea what was happening and were clearly shaken by a man taking pride in trying to frighten young women. He then followed my aunt and uncle outside and proceeded to yell obscenities at all of us. This is then when I walked back and asked what the *** was thinking yelling at my family like this. He proceeded to yell and ask if I wanted to «get crazy» with him outside. Obviously by this point I lost it and was letting him know how big of a *** he was.
I noticed several other reviews where people had similar experiences. People do not deserve to be treated like this. This is a neighborhood full of families. They are doing an absolute disservice to the neighborhood. I’m definitely not perfect, I could have walked away and just let things go. I had to voice how rude he was to his face, nobody treats my family like that!

Good bourbon and wine selection but the owner was quite pushy. (like following us around the store and offering commentary– not help– 4 times) Left without buying anything because I wasn’t left to browse selections in peace.

Great selection, but the owner was a total jerk and/​or was on way too much coke and harassed us from the moment we entered to the moment we purchased. I will never return.

I personally had an awful experience at this establishment. I went in looking for a beer that I did not expect them to have, but thought it would be a good chance to check out a new place. Their beer coolers were in disarray, but I was cool with that. I spent some time checking through everything before the owner asked what I was looking for. I told him, and then was scoffed at for thinking they might still have that seasonal beer. I told him I understood that and it was just a long shot because I saw it listed online as in stock there. He then asked what beer I wanted. I told him I just wanted to keep browsing, but he kept pressuring me saying that I must have come in for some type of beer and to just tell him. I told him again that I just wanted to browse and he still pushed and said that the hawks would be on in a couple hours and that I should just buy a beer already. Throughout this process he became increasingly hostile, despite me staying calm and polite.
Soon he rubbed me the wrong way enough though that I decided to leave. As I started to walk out he said «yeah, see I’m not the type to f**k around» with people like you. That struck me as especially odd because I had just come from work and was wearing a button down oxford shirt, pressed dress pants, and shined dress shoes. I am an especially polite person, and only expressed curiosity in what beers he had available. After he said that comment I did lose my temper some and told him I probably would have bought some beer from him if he wasn’t such a d**k. I said this as I walked out the door and he proceeded to follow me and call me every name in the book. As I walked across the street to my car he threatened to fight me and then called me a pu**y for not fighting him. As I walked across I could hear him saying «I’m right here big man, where you going?» and other similar comments.
I will admit to losing my temper after he cursed at me, but everything I have said here is the truth. I did not leave out anything said or done by either party. The owner was pushy, impatient, rude, demeaning, and downright hostile. He ran me out of his establishment for wanting to explore his beer selection, and was willing to fight me in the street for no further provocation than what I have mentioned here. The most preposterous thing is up until I lost my temper I was exceptionally polite and nice to this man. I was even going to walk out of his establishment quietly after being looked down upon for wanting a certain beer and then being borderline harassed for wanting to look through his selection.
I love trying new beers and just wanted to see what he had here. His variety was poor though, and his stock was old. I probably still would have bought a beer or two just to be polite, since I did see a couple I had not tried. Because of his actions I will never go there again though, and would advise anyone considering this place to take their money elsewhere.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. STAY AWAY!
The man who works at the counter (the owner) has some serious mental issues. Rude, pushy, condescending and sexist.
A woman works with him — I believe his wife– he is so mean to her and disrespects her in front of customers.
The place is crowded with alcohol and you can barely move.
The only good thing about this place is the food. Good food.

Do yourself a favor and sort these reviews by date.
Don’t let the overall 4 star rating (as of today) of this place fool you. You’ll notice that almost all of the positive reviews are from when this place was under previous ownership.
I gave it a few chances under the new owners, but it’s just not what it used to be. You can barely walk around in there anymore because there are liquor boxes and booze stacked everywhere. You can’t try to buy anything without the owner trying to sell you a bottle of liquor and talking sh*t about other customers. And the food quality is just not what it used to be.
This place used to be staffed by the nicest people who were incredibly welcoming and super sweet. I think maybe one of those employees is still around.
Everything that used to make this place great is gone. It’s a shame, because I used to eat here at least once a week.
Oh well.

Hands down the RUDEST experience I’ve ever had.
Have lived in the neighborhood 2 years and had never been before. My girlfriend and I walked in just to see what the selection was looking for nothing in particular at this time. As we were walking out thinking we’d definitely come here again for a sandwich or to buy some alcohol, the owner stops serving a customer and says (exact quote) «hey guys this isn’t a museum, next time buy something» and proceeds to flick us off.
If I could give a ⁰⁄₅ I would. I will NEVER be going there again. This guy deserves all of the bad reviews.

This little spot was so much better before the new ownership took over. We ordered our breakfast, and the guy behind the counter was incredibly rude. When I asked to add egg to a breakfast sandwich, he suggested I get something totally different. I explained what I wanted again, and that I have ordered this several times before with no problem, and he mocked me and made a big deal out of it. Then he acted like it was an inconvenience when my fiancé also ordered a sandwich. Aren’t you here to sell people food?
The food here IS awesome, and I previously raved about it to fellow LP residents, but that won’t be the case now. I’m left with a bad taste in my mouth, and it certainly wasn’t from the food.

The quality of food is a 4 out of 5 for sure but the new owner has completely turned me off with how he treats his customers and what he says behind their backs. I was waiting for my sandwich and a customer had a simple question about the the changes they had made and the owner took offense and became immediately defensive and almost ushered the guy out of the store. After he had left the owner says to me «This F*ing guy comes in and gets a $ 2 cup of tea. Who the F*ck does he think he is. F*ck him» and it went on and on. The other woman behind the counter (who is awesomely nice) rolled her eyes at him as if to say not this again.
I mean seriously, it’s like an episode of Hell’s Kitchen with how pushy this guy is. His methods of doing business don’t work here. I have been coming to this place for the last 3.5 years and the last few times I have gone in for a quick sandwich he has been overly pushy, rude, disrespectful and clearly not caring about the customers as the previous owners and workers did.
Again, the food is still great but the owner is the most off putting person I have met in a long time and I will no longer be a customer.

Enjoyed the food and the experience of this quant little shop. I stopped in for some breakfast hangover cure food which I was not disappointed to find. The breakfast deli sandwich and breakfast croissant plus an iced coffee were the items of choice. The owners (husband & wife) were quite pleasant to chat with while my food was being prepared. Upon my return home, the breakfast goodness was rapidly consumed by me and my lady all the while thoroughly enjoying each bite.
We will be back.
Also, they have random wine tasting days there plus a large selection of liquor to choose from. Enjoy!

I got the santorini panini. Excellent and fresh, and was a pretty big size as well. The owner Chris was really nice.
I haven’t gotten anything else there but all the desserts and deli items looked great. Eager to try what else there is.

UPDATE: The new owner has turned this once lovely Euro-​deli into a liquor store with «deli» now only an afterthought. Also, it seems that the old-​fashioned European customer service is also gone. Deli Boutique is no more… it’s now

Sad news Deli Boutique fans… The place has changed hands. Met the new owner today and was NOT impressed. Although, as a neighbor, I had already received the city’s mandatory postcard regarding a new liquor license… I never knew the place was sold. Turns out they will «have a full wall of beer and wine.» Well, that’s all good if the place is bigger!!! Nope.
Oh well… we will see how it goes. I just was not impressed at all when I met the new owner.
