Les Sous Martinez = one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. Very friendly staff — they gave me soup while I waited for my pickup order :-) Will definitely be back!!!

I enjoyed meeting Chef Laura Martinez. I enjoyed a delicious tofu sandwich for lunch. It had excellent flavor and I would order it again!

An excellent lunch experience. I ordered a carryout: 2 sandwiches. This was the first time a chef ever presented the dishes to me before placing them in the to-go containers. That’s an amazing demonstration of pride in your work, and they have much to be proud of. The food is delicious, and prepared with the care and attention to detail that you see in only the very best restaurants. Give them a try if you love food as I do.

I am not sure where the earlier reviews ate but it could not have been the same place. Unless they are all friends. I feel confused. I took my family for lunch after a quick visit to the zoo. The inside is small but they are very acommodating. The food… we ordered a chicken quesadilla for 12.99. It was advertised with vegetables and no extra charge for chicken. That should have been my red flag. It costs them more for chicken so why would it not cost me more… I have the answer… the portion was enough to feed my 3yr old but even he was still hungry. The grease was dripping out and was disgusting. Let me address the fresh factor. fruit on the side was straight from the Dole can. The turkey club was fine, nothing special. 33.00 with tip for 2 lunches and a snapple… no thanks there are at least 20 other places in the area I would prefer.

Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. Great staff. Period! This little spot of joy(emphasis on little) is absolutely amazing!!! Went here yesterday with a few friends for a late lunch, and was surprised to see the place was empty. We sat down in the small restaurant, and were greeted by the chef and her assistant(husband?) With a smile and kind welcome. We all ordered wraps or sandwiches and their baked chips. After ordering, they brought us all some complimentary soups to try, which were fantastic. Our wraps arrived and were amazing!!! Great flavor, and amazing presentation. The chips were fresh and crisp, absolute, homemade perfection. The chef is visually impaired, but as you watch her work her magic in the kitchen, you would never know the difference. Each of us paid about $ 15 for wraps, chips, and our drink. Not bad of a price for such a great experience.

Sometimes you find a little place tucked away in some corner and you go in almost accidently and it becomes the best part of your day. We were wandering around Clark and we went in to get some lunch. My husband and I decided to split the meatloaf with our 2 year old. It turned out to be the most fantastic meatloaf I have had in a while– fresh and accompanied with the best mashed potatoes and bread and salad — each absolutely delicious. Chef Laura Martinez has coaxed so much flavor from every single dish and we were so taken by her and her staff’s hospitality. Before we left they gave us 3 delicious cookies that my daughter loved. We will be back to try more.

Went here last night with a meetup group. I had no expectations going in so I was blown away by the quiche. Probably the best quiche I’ve ever had. Normally I stay away from desserts but we split a tequila cheesecake or two or three and I will definitely be back for that as well. All in all it was a lovely night and remember when you go its BYOB

A wonderful experience. An independent restaurant serving food made from scratch. Simply outstanding.

Not a typical taco/burrito place if that’s what you are looking for but the food is fantastic and pretty cheap.

My brother & I had the Le Sous Martinez sandwich, empanadas, tartizza, tequila & chocolate cheesecake(with a couple very buttery cookies thrown in for free), mixed fruit frappé(not too sweet, the way I like it) & hot cocoa. They were fresh, tasty & very delicious. The tartizza was cheesy lip smacking good, the empanada crust & filling was to die for & that sandwich is a level above in taste & sophistication. Simply extraordinary! We’ll be back if we’re around Lincoln Park again.

I was fortunate enough to be taken to lunch at La Diosa recently. My sister and I dined there for lunch on a sunny weekday. The restaurant sits in a trim storefront with warm orange walls industrial lighting and comfortable seating. I adored the meatloaf and mashed potatoes. The menu is mixture of comfort food with Latin influence. For starters we were given a cup of flavorful lentil soup for free. My big sis had the yummy steak sandwich. My lunch came with a modest salad and silky mashed potatoes. What was great was seeing the owner/chef come out and say hello and listen to our order. She happens to be blind and has a terrific smile. My sister said she studied under Charlie Trotter and her food is finely crafted and well seasoned. The menu had empanadas, quiche and Tartizza which I will be back to try. Byob and good coffee and try the cookies. We will be back soon.

So glad I wandered into here for lunch. I had read about the chef in the Lincoln Park newsletter and didn’t realize this was the restaurant until I sat down. I was the only one there-the chef and her staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I had the vegetable quesadilla which was excellent. The accompanying fruit was also beyond what I expected – the fruit had been marinated in something – very refreshing. I had hoped to get the tartizza but didn’t have enough time. Will definitely return!

We had a fabulous brunch here. I read about this restaurant on NPR and couldn’t wait to try it… such an inspiring story! The food was fantastic. I would especially recommend the tartizza– the crust is just perfect and its a delicious concept(tart + pizza). We also got a quiche(yum) and a sandwich. All were perfectly prepared. But I will be dreaming about that tartizza until we can come back again, which we surely will!

We went for dinner last Saturday and were blown away by the cozy and warm atmosphere! We started with a fresh cup of soup, the empanadas and quesadillas the ingredients were fresh and flavorful! For my main dish I ordered the Le Sous Martinez and wasn’t let down! This was one of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time! The chipotle mayo was tasty with the right amount of zing and the steak was tender and juicy! Other people in my group had the Sriracha chicken sandwich, the grilled cheese and the Le Sous Martinez as well and loved every bite of it! Chef Martinez and her husband were such great hosts! It was also nice that it was a BYOB! If you’re in the area you should stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

What a welcome addition to the neighborhood! We went for dinner and enjoyed the swai fish(light and delicate but also buttery at the same time) and the Mexican pizza, as well as the tortilla soup. Definitely high quality at a very reasonable price point, especially with the BYOB. We also tried several types of cookies, which were also light and delicate, and will undoubtedly tempt me off my diet every time I walk past the place. I look forward to visiting again soon.

We had such a terrific dinner at La Diosa this evening, we all said we’ll be back and soon. The mix of French/Mexican fusion was fabulous and given the quality of the chef’s yummy food, we all thought the price was right. It’s not a low cost empanada place. Their price is quite reasonable even for we non investment bankers:) Give your self a treat, go to La Diosa asap. Bön appetite.
