At CCIS our mission is to help individuals understand each other by bridging cultural and communication gaps. Effective communication is more than words. Our interpreters are well trained and highly skilled to communicate not the just the words, but also cultural nuances, traditions, and customs to ensure that the intended message is not «lost in translation.» We provide on-​site interpreting services, telephonic interpreting services, document translations, and interpreter training.

History

Established in 1996.

Cross-​Cultural Interpreting Services is a program of Heartland Alliance for Human Rights and Human Needs, a not for profit organization established here in Chicago 125 years ago. When you work with CCIS, you become a partner with Heartland Alliance – a service-​based human rights organization focused on investments and solutions for the most vulnerable men, women, and children in our society. Proceeds from foreign language interpreting, document translation, and interpreter training services help provide health care for those in need.
