Centered On North

The perfect place to get your pilates equipment class fix.
The studio is pristine and filled with tons of equipment — we’re talking the reformer, chair, etc., but also some extras, including the Bodhi Suspension Trainer and the CoreAlign. They also have the usual weights, weighted balls, rings, and more.
My class was with Janine, and was capped at 3. Now, I’ve been in other pilates equipment classes before and am used to an instructor just standing there giving directions with minimal demonstrations or adjustments. Not here. Janine was totally hands on. There was constant adjustment, and she was able to work with each of us separately for each exercise. In fact, I got more attention than I’ve had in some of my private sessions. Bottom line — Janine is an amazing instructor. Trying to match her energy and attention to detail would tire anyone out, but I loved the focus on doing even the most basic of moves the right way. You don’t realize how little you pay attention to certain things until you’re adjusted a certain way and then the «it’s supposed to feel that way?!» light bulb goes off. Trust me, beginner or advanced, this class is for you, and you will work muscles you never knew you had. Also, for someone who specifically take pilates classes for restoration and realignment, but also wants to feel as though they worked out, this class was perfect. Finally, the group classes here are also crazy affordable — we’re talking $ 35 for singles and as low as $ 30 with a package. Go!

I’m afraid to review because I don’t want this spot to get TOO popular ;) In a nutshell: clean, nice studio centrally located by the el stop. Instructors were SO friendly and knowledgeable, very in-​tune to my previous injuries. It’s not a hard workout, but good to mix in with other more intensive routines (similar to yoga). I’ll be back!

I have been going to Centered on North since it opened and I cannot say enough great things about it. It is a very clean and nice space. Everyone is very respectful of each other and the instructors could not be better. I have been working with Lynne at Centered and she is incredibly knowledgeable and really just great at her job.
You can tell that everyone that works there loves working there and likes to be there which makes a huge difference. For someone who can’t really stand anything related to fitness I think that Pilates at Centered has been an amazing experience for me. :) I have built a lot of strength that I did not know I had and have focused on toning which has helped greatly.
I would highly recommend trying Centered on North out, I guarantee you will love it just as much as I do!

This studio opened in Old Town several years ago and I had every intention of visiting but only did so recently. Now, I’m truly sorry I waited so long… the studio is warm, clean, inviting and the instructors are knowledgable and inspiring. If you’re looking for a pilates studio, look no more, this place is great!!!

I first tried Centered on North because of the convenient location, but I stayed because of the instructors. The space itself is welcoming, clean, and calming. The instructors are all friendly, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable.
After quitting Pilates several years ago (because my instructor left to have kids and no one else I tried seemed to be as knowledgeable and helpful as she was) I finally tried out a few studios last summer. Centered on North proved to be the best studio by far.
I have suffered from multiple injuries and Janine at Centered on North has helped me to gain strength and flexibility while also helping me to minimize my chronic pain. I honestly don’t know what I would have done this past year without my weekly one-​on-​one sessions. The focus is not only on improving strength, flexibility, and toning, but also on doing all of those things in a healthy way that can be sustained over time. I strongly encourage everyone interested in Pilates to take a class at Centered on North.

I have been going to classes at Centered on North since they first opened. I attend classes twice a week and I look forward to going there every time. The staff and instructors are helpful, welcoming, kind, and KNOWLEDGEABLE!!! When I started doing Pilates, I had very bad back pain from an injury. Thanks to the instructors at Centered on North, I no longer have back pain.
The studio itself is clean and full of great equipment. The environment is so friendly and comfortable. They have all of the equipment you could ever need to get a great pilates workout. Each week my instructor (Lynne) challenges us in new ways. We never do the same thing each week. Pilates has been a great way for me to stay in shape, unwind after a long day at work, and become more balanced overall.
There are lots of studios around Chicago that offer pilates, but Centered on North offers a staff of instructors who are so good at what they do! It makes all the difference when you are being trained by people who know how to deal with injuries and how to challenge you to grow each and every week.

I am a long-​time runner and all-​around fitness fanatic. At 48 years old, I have lived through a lot of fads and tried everything from Tae Bo to hot yoga. I am utterly addicted to Shred415, but do that every day and you’ll find yourself injured. Centered on North offers a calm, focused approach to whole-​body fitness. Despite my frequent ab work, Marie had my abs on fire, and I felt them for 2 days following. You will leave this lovely studio with your body singing, but without feeling as though you are killing yourself while you’re there. Don’t miss it!

Centered on North is a beautiful storefront Pilates studio located in Old Town. The first thing you notice upon entering is the great quality Pilates equipment and the harmoniously laid out studio. Centered on North creates a very inviting atmosphere. The studio has several reformers, chairs, barrels as well as a cadillac which really lead to creative and non-​repetitive Pilates sessions.
I highly recommend the instructors at this studio. Most of my one-​on-​one sessions were with Erica R. She is the first fitness professional that has been able to accommodate my injuries while still creating a fulfilling workout. Many of the stretches and movements Erica used during our training have helped me control my pain and strengthen my core to encourage correct muscle usage. I saw movement results within a few weeks.
I also took a private lesson with Lynne, who is one of the senior instructors. She is extremely knowledgable and led me through a vigorous and body conscious routine that left me feeling elated. Schedule a one-​one-​one session or group class with either of these great instructors.
Classes and sessions can be booked online which is always a plus for me. There is ample street parking in the area.
