Established in 1957.
Owned and operated for thirty-one years by husband and wife business team, Randee and Larry Estes, Max’s Italian Beef on Western Avenue has served up some of the best food on Chicago’s north side. As their many customers began asking for beef by the pound to bring home, their roles expanded to include a wide variety of catering demands. And as their passion for catering increased, they began to attend catering conferences and workshops across the country, learning from the best in the business and bringing exciting new menu and food presentation ideas to their ever-growing catering business. Whether it’s weddings, full service buffets, plated dinners, boat cruises, corporate events, BBQ and picnics or parties of any kind, Catering by Max’s does it all with flair. And the personal touch that the Estes’ are known for ensures maximum success. In 1992 Chef Ed Baboorian joined the team, catapulting the business to what has now become a premier full service catering company. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu, one of Chicago’s prestigious culinary schools, Chef Ed combines his experience and passion for unique and creative flavors to create menus that please every palate. With Chef Ed in the kitchen, Catering by Max’s has been able to expand their menu offerings from traditional Chicago best sellers to cutting edge international cuisines such as classic French preparations, Mexican Mercado tacos and Asian street food.
