My favorite sushi place in Chicago! It’s BYOB and all of the sushi always taste fresh! Must order the Honey Bee roll!

Today is Christmas Eve I know a lot place is close. So I choose this restaurant and once I step in the cooking smell and and done the dinner my clothes and hair smells totally like I just working at the kitchen and the food it’s average blow and there only one waitress service are below average. The entire bring out I only had one bite I and done with this restaurant. Just not recommend anyone go there. Food and service are below and time take so long.

The service here is slower than the slowest slow. Do NOT come here starving, and make sure to bring extra wine(they have a BYOB policy, no cork fee) to make the waiting easier. Don’t shy away from ordering the Honey Bee — it sounds weird, but is completely amazing. Basically, this roll keeps me coming back. The rest of the sushi is great too, but that Honey Bee… it’s something else. Grab a spot on the patio if you can!

So I used to come here a lot when I lived in the hood… about 10 years ago. Haven’t been in awhile but was going to Zanie’s for a show and us girls wanted sushi and BYOB. Service was super slow as was getting our sushi. But our sushi was really good and fresh. We had a mexican roll, a spider, himachi and avo, sweet potato, and two others. All were rolled really well and very good. The no corkage was a huge plus. For three of us it was $ 75. Agree with another Unilocaler — Bathroom is HORRIBLE. Seriously folks — clean that thing.

I LOVE this place!!! Ordered salmon nigiri, 3 peices, philly with daikon radish added to it. AMAZING!, and spicy salmon maki comes with avocado and scallions and spicy mayo… Oh man! Perfect sized pieces! I’m so full and so happy and it didn’t break the bank! What a diamond in the rough! I don’t understand the bad reviews because I can eat here everyday! My dad had the teriyaki salmon and just short of licked the plate clean. Will def be back whenever I’m anywhere near this place!

I’m not sure where to begin as there is nothing bad to say but neither is there anything good to say. Café Sushi was eh. An underwhelming experience. Not delicious. Just okay. I definitely do not recommend the Red Dragon. There was something weird about the flavors and the different textures — they just didn’t work well together in my opinion. On the plus side, we had a great seat by the window on a blustery fall evening and decent service. And I really like that Café Sushi is BYOB and there is no corkage free. Plus, you get an ice bucket.

My husband and I checked out Café Sushi in Old Town tonight and the sushi was just«ok». We were disappointed that it took 45 minutes to get our food!!! Very slow service as we arrived a little before 7pm and there were only 3 other tables full at the time. I ordered yellowtail nigiri and their specialty«Hawaiian» roll. My husband ordered the philly, salmon tempura, and miami roll. All of these rolls were tasty but not great. The place itself looks great on the inside, nice décor and ambience. Overall, we are not impressed and would not recommend for sushi lovers.

Overall, the sushi is pretty mediocre. There are interesting rolls on the menu, but not executed very well. The inside of the restaurant looks a bit dated. On the plus side, the prices are cheap and there is a great patio with a spectacular view of the city.

BYOB is always a perk to any sushi joint. Avoid the bathroom at all costs if you can… definitely disgusting. Food was mediocore to average and service was super slow. Overall there are plenty of other spots to enjoy a bite of sushi in the city and I wouldn’t recommend this spot.

I ordered take out entrée Makimono Karai.(spicy tuna, spicy salmon & crab roll)… Somewhat disappointed. The rice is too dry and miss the sweetness of the vinegar taste. Too spicy on tuna roll. Two stars will fit this restaurant.

The good thing about the place is its BYOB. Very slow service nothing extraordinary about the sushi.

Worst. Service. Ever. If you enjoy being ignored for thirty minute stretches, this is the place for you! I was there an hour and a half total, and did not get offered a single refill on my water! Waited a full hour for my sushi(I had a timer running for the parking meter), and I seriously have to question if the tuna was sushi grade. All wrong.

I like this place for the convenience and the BYOB with no cork fee. Service was all young boys who did not seem very interested in being attentive or welcoming. The sushi was okay but the dumplings we had were terrible! Falling apart and over cooked. I think I will only continue to come here for the convenience since it is close to my apartment and the fact that they have a patio with BYOB.

Believe all the reviews, I didn’t and made the mistake to give it a try. The only thing good here is the fact that it is BYOB. Service is mediocre, it’s a decent looking restaurant that is run by staff. Seems though the owner has forgotten it exists. The chef’s are probably rejects from other sushi restaurants and thus available for cheap and hired here. The sushi was below quality and taste. It did not even look appealing. The order took over 30mins to arrive we were waiting forever. Tasted greasy, stale and lacked any essence of real sushi. It is sad this place is still running. Spare yourself and don’t bother going here.

BYO. Had mxied service experiences over a couple different times. The simple sushi is decent, the more complex specialty rolls were mediocre and mushy.

I struggle to review this place due to fact that it didn’t seem like anything awesome to write about and nothing bad happened either. We decided to give it a shot since it is in the neighborhood and it was a beautiful Wed evening. The good or ok: — BYOB with no corkage fee and you can get an ice bucket too. — they have outdoor seating which is 1st come 1st serve… maybe 6 tables? — Mexican roll and the Viagra rolls was decent. I’d order again — Service was friendly — the place has moderate décor but not fancy or pretentious. The«eh» or bad or «could be better»: — it took a while to get our 4 rolls when it was not busy at all. we were the 1 of 2 tables on the inside — the rolls were just okay… maybe just a small step above grocery store sushi. the rice was slightly dry? — the spider roll was meh… too much eel sauce. I really won’t go out of the way to come here… but I can still see myself dining here again since it is near me.

I’ve been twice now, I’m not going to lie the place smells bad, like fishy and a warmness humidifier smell to it as well. The sushi isn’t bad though. Despite the smell, the sushi is great, so I guess they’ve got that going for them. But come on. they need to get a better ventilation system. Even in the winter when you walk by, you can’t see in their restaurant because all their windows are fogged up!

The sushi was really just ok. I actually think it was a little overpriced too. However, the restaurant is BYOB with no corkage fee which was great. Remember to ask for a bucket of ice to chill your wine. They are very accommodating. I don’t think I will be back unless I am in the area and it is super convenient. There isn’t much ambiance, and like I said, the sushi is nothing to write home about. There are plenty of BYOB sushi places in the city to try before coming back to this place frankly.

This review is only for one item on the menu, I got the«Tuna Teriyaki» Entrée, which was $ 19.99. The fish was dry and excessive doused in sauce. It tasted about as good as a TV dinner. I get better quality food at a grocery store hot food bar for $ 7 than what I just consumed last night. Like, seriously, it was bad. I advise the ownership to seriously improve it, or just remove the item from the menu. I was there with a friend, and she ordered the sushi and seemed to enjoy it. But don’t get the entrees. Absolutely brutal.

BYOB and no corkage fee, this place is great! But seriously their sushi is wonderful. I’m relatively new to the world sushi. Not great with chopsticks and at one point I just picked the food up with my hands, probably a faux pas but hey the rolls were good and I was struggling to keep them intact with the chopsticks. Fortunately my friends were more amused than annoyed with manners. We ordered the edamame and I think I am one of few people who are not a fan of it. I didn’t care for the stringy outside line bordering the pod. Not sure how else to describe it but it actually got caught going down my throat. My friends on the other hand, loved it. I did enjoy my rainbow roll and tuna roll. The prices were a lot cheaper than expected. Our server checked in on us regularly. Overall, an enjoyable dining experience and I plan to go back.
