Love this place, super chill. I get my hair done by Daisy and she makes magic happen every time! I always walk out feeling so fierce. She’s super talented and is obviously passionate about what she does. I box dyed my hair black for over 6 years and when I walked in my first time and said I want to transition to platinum blonde, she told me it would be a process carried out over several months and asked if I was ready for the commitment. She then worked on my hair for 6 hours just to begin lightening it up. It was pretty late and dark out when she finished so she even gave me a ride to the train station. I’ve been going back every month ever since and each time we go lighter and lighter, I love the results and my hair never feels damaged! She takes her time and explains everything thoroughly so there’s no surprise as to what you get but you’ll love the end result. I can’t imagine going to anyone else again.

Seriously I would say SKIP all the other barbers and hair stylist and come here! Daisy does my hair and every time it’s FABULOUS! She takes her time, goes above and beyond to make sure I’m comfortable and feel great. She even gives you tips on how to well maintain your hair and which products to use.(Many hair stylist don’t give that info out just to make you come back, but I still come back) As for barber, while I do my hair I peek over and see Melo doing a Great job with men, making sure it’s to his clients satisfaction. These workers here are awesome, greet you with a smile and don’t make you feel uncomfortable in any way.(Great environment) God bless them not only for helping people but boosting up confidence especially mine. Thanks guys, especially Daisy! Xoxo!

Nice concept to combine a Barbershop/Salon with a consignment Sneaker Shop(Nice Selection/Fair Prices). Really liked the album cover wallpaper(Hip-Hop, Rock, etc.) around the room. Melo’s a really cool dude. Even thou I didn’t have an appointment, he fit me in and hooked me up with a shape-up of my beard… really appreciative of that. I haven’t found anyone that’s been able to cut/shape my beard that sharp since. Recommended…

I found a stylist from this place from Instagram a few months ago. Her name is Michelle. I followed her profile and saw her work that she has done and I was impressed. In September I saw a picture of her clients color that she had done a red wine color and I wanted it so I booked an appointment for color only. When I met her she was very personable and sweet. I was very happy with the color. She even gave me some tips to take care of «red» color. She asked if i wanted my hair trimmed and I declined at this time. Of course red fades pretty fast so I made another appointment in October, for the 11th to be exact because I had a company party that night. So again I got the red wine color but it was a little more red this time. And I decided to get a trim of a half inch because my hair was pretty long and I hadn’t trimmed it since spring. So I figured what the heck, I’ve seen her work and it was awesome. So as my hair had color in it she attended to another client and her assistant and her would flip flop. Michelle«trimmed» my hair while her assistant dried the other lady’s hair then vice versa. So I was done I peeked at the mirror to look couldn’t look at the back of my hair because the other client was sitting in the chair kinda in my way. I said I loved the color, paid and left. So that night I was attempting to curl my hair for the party and to my surprise I noticed my top layer seemed really short. But I thought to myself just curl it and get ready for the party because I didn’t want to be late. So of course I waited a couple days to wash my hair. Dried and flat ironed as I would usually abc I took a mirrors to see the back of my hair and I was in shock! It was horrible! I had the choppiest hair cut ever. I cried and cried. I messaged her to let her know, I sent her a pic and she messaged me back later asking if she can blend it better for me to give her another chance. I cried myself to sleep. I wanted my money back for the cut but she wanted to try and correct it so I gave her a chance. I went back the following Monday night. She attempted to blend my hair. But my top layers were so short. She apologized and said it was kinda hectic that day for her. She admitted to cutting about and inch of my hair because I had split ends. I told her I wanted a half inch. She then says«that I didn’t seem like a person to be attached to my hair» that she’s had clients how I guess we’re firm in their voice and what they wanted I said I’m not gonna be a b**** to someone I’ve met a couple times. I asked for something and she did something else. Anyways she tried to correct it. I’m stuck with this horribly layer hair. I pretty much wear my hair up because of the jagged ends and layers. I went to my usual girl at gallery of hair and she tried to fix the flow off hair and come to find out i had shorter layers under longer layers of hair which is crazy. Michelle is a sweet person also talented but her talent didn’t shine the day I went. Unfortunately I’m not going back.

Got a killer cut from(I believe?) a guy named David. Super friendly, super professional. Happened to be passing through town so I sadly can’t make Born With Soul my regular joint, but I’m tellin you, one of the better cuts I’ve had in a long time.

Melo does the fade right. Knows how to cut both men and women’s and does it right. He’s never disappointed me and not to mention the amount of shoes he sells at great prices. Very trendy and some cool clothes to check out as well

I’ve been going to Born With Soul to get my haircut with Melo since the summer. From graphics and faded mohawks, to my current modified pompadour, I’ve never been less than pleased. Melo does excellent work and the environment is friendly and welcoming. Although I she has never cut my hair, Blu is also great at what she does(I’ve seen her work).

When they first started building shop, I was super excited. From the looks of it, it seemed like the place that would be cutting out the footwork for anyone in Chicago who likes collectible kicks and limited edition sneakers whether by Mark Smith or Rolland Berry. Ever since I quit my job at Adidas Originals, I’ve been saving up money and limiting purchases making this store’s development a serious spending problem. The GF promised me I could go wild at the end of the year for Xmas should I restrain myself. I did, but I guess it wasn’t necessary. If I had walked in, I wouldn’t ever have cared to spend money. I walked into the store, and was met with a pretty icy reception. I made a circle and picked up a few sneakers. I even held one for about 5 minutes hoping to get a size, and to no avail; no eye contact, no greeting, no chance. Someone was wiping down a counter, and someone else was fixing someone else’s hair. Maybe I just didn’t look like someone worth helping? Maybe it was culturalism or something. It was cold and not only did nobody help me, but I genuinely felt like they thought I shouldn’t even be there. Much of my anger is just pure disappointment in how I was treated. I’m not looking for hand-held service, but some acknowledgment would be nice. I will say that on this side of town, they have the best selection of Nikes I’ve seen in one place. Could’ve used more Adidas’ and Reeboks’, but that’s preference. There’s really only so many Air Force Ones that I give a shit about.
