I was sent over to see Dr Summers by my family doc. I had some concerns with abdominal pain that i have had for a year. It was easiest enough to make an appointment with him, although I must say, his staff were kind of short with me. While talking with Dr Summers, I found him to be smart and caring. He seemed clearly concerned with my health. My consultation lead to a surgical procedure that cured my abdominal pain. The doctor did well by me, and I feel great I strongly recommend Dr Summers to anyone

I was patient of Dr. Summers a couple of years back and my experience was great. Making appointments was not a hassle, he seemed very attentive to my health problems, he answered all the questions I had regarding my treatment, and most importantly I am much better now. I would strongly recommend Dr. Summers to anyone.

Nobody follows up with you. You have to call them, and only after getting your Primary Care Doctor to call do they suddenly wish to schedule an appointment with the results. I do Not recommend Dr. Summers at all. Complete lack of professionalism from the staff.

This doctor doesn’t even deserve one star. The guy has absolutely no communication skills, spends no more than 30 seconds with patients, and if you ask him a question he just looks at you like you’re a complete idiot. His booker was supposed to call me the day after my appointment to book my surgery, but no call ever came. Don’t waste your time here, find another doctor.

If there were a 0 star option I would hands down give him that. This was the worst experience that I have ever had with a Dr. It started with never being less than an hour late for an appointment, and then being 3 hours late for my surgery(a simple hernia repair). His communication skills are extremely lacking and never spent more than 60 seconds with me during an appt, and never offered any information I had to pull questions out of him like a child. Then to top it off he didn’t even perform the surgery correctly. He removed some fatty tissue and didn’t repair the hernia. When I returned to tell him the problem he was baffled and couldn’t figure it out. I went a Dr that actually had training at Northwestern who knew it was a hernia at first glance and fixed it no problem. Did Barry Summer repay me for having the same surgery done twice? Not a chance, not only that but he dodged my phone calls and letters for months after when I was trying to get in touch with him. Overall, I would highly recommend you never step foot into this guys’ office. WORSTEXPERIENCEPOSSIBLE.

I reveiwed my dr. before I had surgery and he did the surgery and I never saw him again. Many Many problems I had after and never once did he even call me or see me. He left it to the students and intern doctors which were clueless on real medicine. This was inhumane, awful, horrible experience and I would never recommend you use this doctor unless you like an uncaring, absentee doctor.

I reported him to the Illinois Medical Board back in 2006 after a bad sclerotherapy resulted in permanent bruising at the injection sites(which I still have as of 2012) and he refused to call me back when I had a question regarding the bruising shortly after the procedure. I had to threaten to report him after over a month of him refusing to call me back. He eventually called me back and saw me again, but did not apologize for any wrong doing and he acted like the bruising was completely normal. I never went back to him or Thrive Medical Spa. Horrible customer service + bad medical procedure = never return and tell everyone I know.

I saw Dr Summers after I discovered a lump in my breast. I see Dr Cherie Gilleon at the same practice and she referred me to him. Naturally it was a very worrying time and Dr Summers was really nice and helped me to relax about it and gave me option of waiting and seeing if the lump changed or grew or have it taken out. I opted to have it taken out for peace of mind. That was yesterday and Dr Summers and his staff were so lovely and even though I was scared I did feel I could place my trust in him. He promised to call me the same day with a preliminary result from the lab which he did(and thankfully it looks to be negative for malighancy). I would definitley see him again if needed, he is very professional yet friendly and caring.
