History

Established in 2011.

AJ Hudson’s Public House is the new incarnation of Ginger’s Ale House. Proprietor, Jamie Hale, originally hailing from Gloucester, England, has gutted and rehabbed his first born to reflect a new era. While he was always an original owner of Ginger’s Ale House since 1992, the name change to AJ Hudson’s Public House is meaningful in this rebirth because it is named after two of his children with his wife, Julia Shell. AJ stands for their daughter’s initials, and Hudson is their son’s first name.

Meet the Business Owner

Jamie H.

Business Owner

Back in 1992, two young immigrants, one from England and one from Ireland, came together to open an establishment called Ginger’s Ale House. It was so named, as the Englishman was nicknamed «Ginger» from his days in the Royal Navy, years earlier. Over many years of hard work and development, Ginger’s Ale House became home to Chicago’s, and eventually the United States’, number one soccer bar. In time, Ginger’s Ale House had become too small to host the crowds of international sports fanatics who patronized the locale, and the Englishman decided to expand and opened The Globe Pub, in nearby Northcenter. Business soon boomed at The Globe Pub, which subsequently took the titles and accolades from Ginger’s Ale House, as it became the number one soccer bar, for a time. In late 2011, things came full circle, and AJ Hudson’s Public House is now where Ginger’s Ale House once stood, and the Englishman, Hale, is once again at the helm.
