#70 Division Bus

I rue the day I moved West only to have to take the Division Bus to the Blue Line… what was I thinking?!?
It’s on the Bus Tracker– there’s your one star! But who cares, really? They still run one right after the other and play leap frog, which is bad management.
In my short two months riding this bus again I witnessed an old lady verbally abusing, then hitting our bus driver. He immediately pulled over, called CTA and made us get out of the bus to take the next one.
Yesterday, a little boy puked beanies and weenies and we had to exit as the driver called CTA for a «dirty bus». We had to get off the bus to take the next one. She didn’t happen to just tell the one right in front of us to stay there and wait for us, nope. Too easy.
This bus is costing me beaucoup bucks in Taxi fare too, as it runs only about once every hour after midnight. I’m a big fan of public transportation, but I’m considering an 8-​block walk everyday just to avoid this bus line!

This bus is terrible and does only run like every hour, but if people keep giving it bad reviews, less people will ride it and the CTA will just cut service more. So I say, 5 stars!

The schedule says that the bus runs about every 15 minutes but don’t be surprised if you end up waiting 30 – 45 minutes for your ride. Why with a well populated street as Division is this freaking bus so elusive? If you’re like me and live west of Western be prepared for the horde of Clemente students hogging the aisles during the morning runs. These students take up all of the aisle room at the very front of the bus and refuse to move any further back where there is plenty of space. You can tell the bus driver is fed up with trying to move them back. I really don’t care and just squeeze onto the bus anyway. I mean it’s only a few more stops and they will be off the bus ride can return to normal.
For my evening ride home, I pick up this bus at Walton and Dearborn, right in front of the Newberry Library. It’s nice to have my pick of the seats. I suggest asking the bus driver what time they start their route because they may not be leaving for a long time and you maybe to grab a faster bus.

I hate you division bus. I hate you so much. I wait up to 45 every day for you at division and kedzie. When I want to take you at deerborne and walton I have to wait 30 minutes for you to show up, then wait another 15 minutes to take off.

Ok so in the morning this bus is awesome. By 4pm this bus sucks. I know they’re dealing with rush hour but some of the drivers hate us. My advice if you are getting on the bus from where it starts by the newberry library is to get on before the jewel stop because you wont be able to get a seat. I don’t even take this at night anymore because its so sketchy. I had one bus driver get out of the bus gage because a homeless woman/​man smelled to bad. And it was one of those cold days where all we wanted was to get home.

As most buses go, the Division going eastbound is pretty reliable in the morning. There is one guy who normally drives in the morning who’s a master of bobbing in and out of traffic to haul ass to the other end of his line. I love that guy. I get happy anytime i get onboard and see his face.
At night going westbound however, it measures up with the worst of the CTA bus lines. I have spent many evenings standing in front of the Newberry Library in the Gold Coast waiting for 45+ minutes for a bus to show up, when it finally does show up it will wait there for another twenty minutes while the bus driver gets off and calls up one of her girlfriends to piss and moan about how much it sucks driving a bus. Just shut up and drive.
I’m so glad it’s warm enough to bike to work again.
